HappyDD reacted to Junglecat in Dwarf Cannon Crew
No you don't pay the costs. It is referring to being able to legally play it into the same zone as the DCC. If you played the Cannon Crew into the battlefield, and the support card you found says "Kingdom zone only" then you wouldn't be able to play it.

Episode 35 is up, and finally a new poll too.

HappyDD reacted to Junglecat in IS it me or has Warhammer: Invasion stopped expanding?
The bad news is that they are not making any more sets, no more tournament kits, no faqs updates. The good news is that they said they will still be producing the existing sets. For many people this is a good thing because they didn't want to try to be catching up with an endless cycle of battlepacks and big-box expansions because as completionists, they felt that they could never catch up. While I am not a completionist, I just picked up the last 2 packs to complete my collection last month.
I also feel that they picked a good spot to stop at. With Cataclysm (frakkin' LOVE it), Hidden Kingdoms, and the last battlepack cycle with raider and ambush keywords, the game really feels "complete" and relatively balanced.

HappyDD reacted to rzarectz in "Broken" cards in Conquest.... are there any in your opinion?
Spouting my opinions about card games is the only thing that distracts me from work when I'm at work! ...ok its not the only thing

Rzarectz tried to get me to play with him by absolutely destroying me. If only I had my own cards...

Off topic, but Baenre is right... It's really hard to take advantage of the one-shot momentum that comes with release in the hopes to build a strong community when so many people can't get their hands on a single damned copy of the game. This has gone on for weeks, if not months...

HappyDD reacted to jhaelen in Award for most confusing rules game
Actually, I'd wish they had included dedicated domain cards in the core set like they did in the CCG starter packs.

HappyDD got a reaction from Papa Midnight in Slayer Oath/Reclaiming the Fallen
This is one of those things that goes all the way back to "How does Toxic Hydra work?" Cool people like me think that Toxic Hydra does not create a constant effect but is a one shot thing, but that was never clarified in writing. So the analogue here is "Does Slayer Oath create a constant that the unit gains P = # units in discard pile that is on until the end of the turn? Or does it simply check # when you play it?" I would play it's a one time thing, again because I am cool, but coolness has no weight in rule interpretations and I have been wrong in the past. Many, many times.
For what it is worth: I was playing a game with Brad Andres present and he ruled that Toxic Hydra created a constant effect. That means that using the same logic he employed in a most uncool fashion, the Slayer Oath would result in the unit gaining 0 P after you play Reclaiming the Fallen.

HappyDD got a reaction from sammann11 in 2 turns, game over!
Ugh, I have been on the receiving end of many situations where the game has been over but it wasn't obvious. I can remember one of Mallumo's odd/even Orc decks dropping insane bombs on me from turn one and essentially knocking out everything I had. Dark Elf decks that get turn one Hate, turn two Call the Kraken into Dark Elf Infiltrator can essentially end the game right there. Nothing as insane as what you describe, but the odd/even was very surprising.

Ah. Well. That would explain it. (Since I don't cross-read the bgg boards, I didn't know about the parallel conversation.)

Canada isn't even a real country.

HappyDD got a reaction from Junglecat in Burial Mound - Raise Dead
So you were playing Raise Dead out of your discard pile somehow? The cost of the unit you are using Raise Dead on never matters, that's why people do stuff like discard Grimgor (somehow) to Raise Dead him for 4 and still get his ability.
Raise Dead would not be cheaper if you play it from your hand yet have Burial Mound in play.

HappyDD got a reaction from Junglecat in Winvasion, the Warhammer: Invasion podcast
That's good to hear people like the Forever War cards! I think we talked about Cataclysm while the game was still alive and we were young and beautiful. Episode 13, it looks like, under the archive: http://winvasion.net/podcast-archive/

HappyDD reacted to Norlo28 in Is this game worth buying?
I just bought the Core Set and one Battle Pack.
Let's hope that FFG keep this game in print for a very long time

HappyDD reacted to Junglecat in can you attack and destroy other player`s Quest card ?
Generally, no. Except there is one Orc unit - some kind of a Boar dude, can't remember exactly - that if you have him in your battlefield, lets you treat all quest like support cards I think. Then you could Burn it Down or Pillage or something like that. I tried it in a deck a few times but it never seemed to work out. The unit costs 3 and all it's gunna do is sit there for that effect. Just not worth it.
If you're really having difficulty with someone's quests, bring some stuff to directly kill off or otherwise move the units that are on that quest. And just to be a jerk (plus it's more effective and disruptive), if the quest in question needs 3 tokens to fire off for example, let your opponent get to 2 tokens before you smash his/her dreams. Priceless.

HappyDD reacted to Skaak in Sorry for the confusion but how are people playing this already?
And then there are those who play with the power of their imagination!
But yeah, mostly GenCon and OCTGN.

HappyDD reacted to sammann11 in 2 turns, game over!
I was playing Undead against a Dwarf Reclaiming The Fallen deck. I discarded my top 5 cards, all units.
Turn 1: he played a 2 cost support in his Kingdom. I played Cackling Hexwraith in my kingdom, which allowed me to discard 2 more cards, both units. I then played Invocation of Nehek, naming Abyssal Terror. Of the 5 I discarded with this tactic, 4 were units, 1 of which was an Abyssal Terror, which I put in my battlefield. That gave him a power of 10. I burned his battlefield.
Turn 2: he played 2 separate 2 cost units, 1 each in Kingdom and Quest, and laid a development in the quest as well. I played Entropy, discarding 2 more units. I then played Swarm of Bats, which allowed me to discard 4 more cards, 2 of which were units. So Bats hit with 3 P, while the Abyssal Terror rained down with 14 P. Burned his second zone.
Game over in like less than two minutes! Talk about NPE (Winvasion reference, there).
Anyone else have some quick beat-down stories?
Does anyone think there should be an updated restricted/eratta/ban list for some of these Hidden Kingdom cards?

HappyDD got a reaction from Junglecat in Church of Sigmar vs Warpstone Meteor question
Warpstone Meteor: Forced: After your turn begins, each player must corrupt one of his units in this corresponding zone or deal 1 damage to his capital. (Players decide where their own damage is assigned.)
Church of Sigmar: Kingdom. Opponents cannot target your units with card effects unless they pay an additional 1 resource per effect.
Church of Sigmar does not mean payment is required for Warpstone Meteor. No target, no problem. In almost all cases, the word "target" regarding a unit should appear on a card for Church of Sigmar to work. I say "almost all" because I am too lazy to look up possible exceptions.
