I hope it's era.  I sincerely do.  My poor bank account can't take this many lines!

By all things The Force I hope this is a one off for a Setting Book that crosses over the lines and not yet ANOTHER new rulebook.  Because now I'm just annoyed at all these FFG games.  Would it kill them to do era books?

Especially since many of us DO want the ENTIRE STAR WARS EXPERIENCE not just Age or Edge or Force.  And now we have yet another one that's going to be a separate game.  And darned skippy I'm interested in the Force Awakens era.  Yet how much of this is going to be straight up repeat of old material.  Probably going to be lucky to have more than 100 pages in the inevitable $60 rule book.

Yet those will be good pages, probably new races, maybe a few new talents, and all the new Hardware.  But otherwise?  Is it just going to end up some sort of crossover?  Bleh

And I will paraphrase the now equal to movie canon Clone Wars TV series back at you.  "What aquatic race is there nearby with a standing army that can help us save the Mon Calamari?"   And in come the Gungans, with a shockingly high tech underwater army.  It was pretty cool.

I fully expect Hermit to be based heavily on OT Yoda.  With a dash of Obi-Wan.

I think you rather massively overestimate the hate of the PTs.  Not to mention underestimate the popularity of The Clone Wars.

Wow, no lie.  This was NOT the book I was expecting to be next in the Career line of F&D.  And I am elated it is, because Seeker's one of the ones I really like.  With Hermit in there, especially if it ends up a 2 Force one?  Yeah, I just got a new favorite career.

I thought for sure Consular was going to be next, honestly.  Or an out chance for Sentinel.  Just because along with Guardian they're the "classic three" so to say.

You certainly *can* start as an Emergent or Exile, it just can't be your initial, free, specialization.
You have to spend the 20xp to buy into the specialization out of your initial allotment, and be force sensitive right out of the gate with a Force Rating of 1.  I've made a number of characters that way.

You only get a Force Rating from a Universal if you didn't have one already.  Just like if you had Exile and then took Emergent, you didn't get a secoind boost, you are still at one.  Likewise, if you start as an F&D career, and take Exile or Emergent, you don't get boosted to 2 instantly.*

EDIT: And the F&D Specs don't give a Force Rating, only the Career does.  So yes, if you started with an Edge or Age Career, you need to go through Emergent or Exile to get the Force Rating to get an F&D Spec.

EDIT 2:  * Barring if they max out the Talent tree to the Force Rating bump.

Yeah, please no pink font, it's very pale on the forum background and hard to read, had to copy paste it to notepad to do so!

And honestly, I feel the Light/Dark side stuff gets taken too far, in that it's sooooo open for GM interpretation.  The GM Gotcha above being a perfect example.  I'm sorry, if the dude isn't surrendering and is using The Force against the one rescuing a kid?  Wow... no, not defenseless.

Plus on Yoda?  Obi-Wan and Yoda lied like crazy.

I hope there won't be anymore.

Rather, I'd like to see 'era' books that are marketted as being part of all the lines, not sure what I'd call it.  But I'd start with "Clone Wars" - and market it as being something that can be used with any or all the other three.  Leave core mechanics out, just include new stuff and setting guide.

I love your interpretation of the lightsaber combat forms, so my question is: When will we see a Juyo or Vaapad specialization?

On a similar note: Why aren't there any Universal specializations in the core book? Age of Rebellion had the Recruit universal spec, and it feels like FaD is missing out - why not Shii-Cho as a Universal, and Juyo for the Warrior's lightsaber spec, for example?
