  1. I pretty much follow the layout from the rulebook, except that I put my Command Deck and discard to the left of the Obj cards. That way all of my stacks are to one side and my play area can expand as far to the right as needed. And I tuck my force cards under my Affiliation card just to keep them out of the way.
  2. Turns out all he needed to believe was that he could throw him over a railing.

    Ride the Monorail!

I played the same squadron in league a few weeks ago and it played really well. Things looked bad for me at the end of the second turn, but then one Y and Han got into my opponent's flanks and there was nothing he could do to stop them.
  4. The ship's maneuver dial needs to be accounted for somehow. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Honestly, I don't think that there's a solid formula. I think they made the base TIE and X-Wing cards, settled on their points, and then extrapolated from there. You'd be surprised how often that happens in games w/fewer number of models. Then as the game grows and they get more and more models, the problems start to appear. The other possibility is that there are a lot of decimal values being dealt with and rounding is making everything wonky. For example I used to play a game where instead of adding up the cost of each component and then rounding the sum (like you would do for most math problems) they rounded each component first and then added up the values. That easily led to very similar models having vastly different point costs. FREX: two models w/5 near-identical stats. First the math done the usual way: Model A) 1.6 + 1.4 + 1.4 + 1.4 + 1.4 = 7.2 Rounded to 7 Model B) 1.4 + 1.6 + 1.6 + 1.6 + 1.6 = 7.8 Rounded to 8 Done the way this guy built his formula: Model A) 1.6 + 1.4 + 1.4 + 1.4 + 1.4 = (each number rounded) 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 6 Model B) 1.4 + 1.6 + 1.6 + 1.6 + 1.6 = (each number rounded) 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 9
  5. Shield Upgrade is way too over-costed. On Wedge you're better off using those 4 points on a Torp instead. If you've got PtL he can TL and Focus after his movement, then he's rolling 4 dice + Focus vs 2 dice for the target TIE. Luck not withstanding, he'll kill a TIE every time. Or else Luke will be there to mop it up for you. Also, always insist on using Asteroids in your game, then if you're facing a swarm move as slowly as possible to start and don't go straight at them. Go around the edge of the board and make the swarm move around/through as many asteroids as possible. It may break up their formation and the fewer TIEs that can use Howlrunner's ability, the better. Also, it seems like you face this swarm build a lot. Any reason why you haven't just taken the Falcon or an A-Wing with Assault Missiles? The swarms disappeared pretty quickly in our league once the Rebel players started packing those. Then after a week or two the Rebel players could start mixing things up again here and there, so the Imps didn't know what to expect.
  6. Place Player Points 1 Brant 58 2 Aaron 53 3 Chris 39 4 Matt 38 5 Rob 38 6 Jim 37 7 Shayn 33 8 Patrick 30 9 Dustin 27 10 Evan 24 11 Mike D. 24 12 John 24 13 Greg 23 14 Mike R. 17 15 Sean 17
  7. Well if they wanted it to cost 4 then there's definitely a problem b/c the one I have costs 5.
  8. Man... just reviewed the other 5 cost Light-side units. Seriously.... how did Tantive V get set at cost 5? Look at the Redemption, Home One, Obi Wan, Renegade Squadron, or the Falcon. Tantive V isn't anywhere close to any of them in ability or attack damage. Searching your top five cards for a unique unit is not worth the cost of this card. Especially considering that if you just spent 5 resources to play Tantive V, you're probably not going to have enough to pay for whatever unique card you just drew. So you'd probably have been just as well off waiting to draw that card on your next turn. Did FFG make a mistake and put the wrong cost on it?
  9. Yeah, the concept is that you play Alderaan's Promise, then attach Diplomatic Presence to it, so the only way your opponent can attack it is to have enough units to attack all 3 of your objectives. And then you use Misdirection to move any damage it does take. But considering you're chances of pulling AP are 1:5 (if you're using 2 sets) while your odds of pulling a DP or Misdirection are 1:25, its not likely to work very well. I haven't looked to see what other cards might work to help keep this one in play. Still, I'm just not sure its worth it at this point, seeing as how all it gives you is 1 extra Tactic pip. If I pulled the Objective on my first turn, it'd be the card I buried at the bottom of the objective deck so I wouldn't draw it. If you have to play it as one of your objectives, you'd better hope you pull Diplomatic Presence early. I think that Bail and Artist are good cards (Artist is actually top notch) to use just to sit in the back and keep the Force on your side. Misdirection is a 0 cost card that's good no matter what objectives you have in play and Diplomatic Presence can be used to protect any objective too. I wouldn't touch Tantive V with a 10' pole at this point. Its not even good for tossing in an Edge battle.
  10. His card action let's him Shield a unit. If that's the case, wouldn't it be more effective for the rebels to just give one of those doo-dads to every pilot and let them shield their own ship? Or could they only afford the one doo-dad? And if so, how helpful is it really when they're still in atmo? I'd think the shields would have worn off by the time they flew all the way to the Death Star. Oh, maybe the shield is just in atmo in case an X-Wing hits a bird!
  11. The rules quoted only apply when building custom squads for the Missions included in the rulebook, They're not used for a league or tournament. League/tournament rules are pretty much "use what you own". You can't proxy ships or upgrade cards, so you're limited to whatever cards came w/the ships you bought.* The rules for pooling upgrade cards are pretty much for friendly games where you're pooling all of your models as well as cards, dice, etc. *No, there's nothing preventing you from borrowing somebody else's cards during a tournament. It can just be inconvenient.
  12. 1) Units w/Edge-only icons still have to be Focused to Strike during the engagement. They just have no effect. It has nothing to do w/using the ability printed on his card. 2) The answer to your example question is yes. Read the description for Exhausted on pg 27 of the rulebook.
  13. I agree. I'm looking forward to adding that to my Navy deck.
  14. They actually included this guy in Edge of Darkness! Yes!
  15. The end of the new FAQ, the Action Resolution section, more specifically answers the OP's questions about when and how to measure rolls, boosts, and range.
  16. They will most certainly price match between their stores. Find out somewhere nearby that has it on sale and they'll hook you up. Clearance items have special rules, so I doubt this. 3 weeks ago my son spent $90 of his own money on a new Lego set. 3 days later we were in the same store and the Lego set was on clearance for $15. I went up to customer service and asked about getting a refund for the difference and they said they couldn't do it b/c it was on clearance. If it was a normal sale, they would have refunded him the 14 bucks. It never hurts to ask though. The shelf has a red Clearance sign on it and the box has red Clearance price tags on it w/the discounted price.
  17. I think B&N.com removed all of the expansions from their online store. I searched for them last week and they no longer come up in search results.
  18. Clearance inventory is up to each individual store b/c your customer base determines what sells and what doesn't. I picked up one on Friday for $20 at a Target north of my house, but the one that's closest to me still has it at full price.
  19. I can think of several "off-screen events" they could use for Challenge decks: R2 and 3PO trying to avoid the droid bully in the gut of the Sandcrawler the search for that mysterious noise those two Stormtroopers heard while guarding the tractor-beam controls help Imperial janitor Fess Dollanta try and exterminate all of the trash compactor monsters in the Death Star guard the Tauntaun herd from Wampas C-3PO vs the Ugnaughts! R2 and 3PO trying to avoid the droid bully in Jabba's palace stop Bib Fortuna from buying and delivering new slave dancers to Jabba trying to stay awake during the full briefing from Mon Motha/Ackbar, which must have been the most boring/idiot meeting ever (except for maybe the mission briefing in Act of Valor) They could even do a Rebel vs Rebel deck and let you play as that guy with the radar gun trying to catch anyone breaking the speed limit while they leave Yavin IV.
  20. A buddy and I will be at Ground Zero Omaha tonight @ 9pm if anyone is interested in joining us. They're open until 1am so there's plenty of time to play.
  21. Place the 1 Straight template along side of the blocking model's base and then move the blocking ship out of the way. Once you're done measuring you just put the ship back next to the movement template.
  22. $200 for those tiles? I think you're going to have a hard sell there. People were complaining about $40 for the FFG tiles.
  23. That's why I think the key to the Falcon will be extra mobility. Those torps aren't useful if the Falcon isn't inside their firing arc. Or use Expert Handling to Barrel Roll out of the arc of a few ships and then break the TL of one ship that can still shoot at you. PS - The Falcon should have Barrel Roll as a built-in ability. Just sayin'. You don't understand. Nimdabew is talking about B-wings with heavy laser cannon and Fire control system. No Torps. That's -1 for reading comprehension ForceM. He also mentions bombers, torps, and shuttles. But everything I said is just as valid against B-Wings w/HLC. You'd have to be a dummy to just fly straight into them. They can move 1 straight and barrel roll all day long, while an upgraded Han uses Boost to flank them and then Barrel Roll when he needs to. Since Han is moving last, he can always pick the best way to use that extra movement.
  24. I think after this week's games it should be: 1-2)Brant/Aaron depending on tie-breakers 3) Jim 4) Rob 5) Matt 6) Chris **** I really needed that win against Aaron.
