  1. Picked it up from my FLGS yesterday and have been digesting it overnight. I'm really enjoying the background info on Erioch and its inhabitants. I've got to echo the disappointment at the DIY chapter section. It's mainly a guide on constructing the background fluff which is redundant if you're building a chapter that's already established in 40k lore. As for the successor chapters I thought that the Crimson Fist's hatred of Orks would really only make sense if the DW timeline was set after the Rynn's world campaign? Given that the Crimson Fists provide so many marines to the DW why not give them a bonus to Forbidden Lore(xenos) instead of just hatred(orks)s?

    Mark of Xenos

I'm hoping MoX will be a mixture of existing 40k alien races (Eldar, Ork particularly) and new threats from the Jericho reach itself. I'd like to surprise players with strange, unfamiliar xenos enemies but by the same token I feel as a gm that I shouldn't have to go trawling through a bunch of sourcebooks from other lines such as DH/RT for stats of two of the most long-established alien forces such as Orks & Eldar. The orks, as others have already pointed out, exist everywhere in the galaxy. Given the number of ancient threats 'slumbering' in the Reach the Eldar would be interesting antagonists in trying to prevent the Imperium from foolishly digging up 'dead' worlds.
  3. I'd agree that for a marine on foot the charge bonus is their initial momentum as they hurl themselves into combat. They probably couldn't keep barrelling through a mob because they'd eventually get swarmed as the horde 'piles on'. But what about an assault marine with a jump pack? particularly one with 'wrathful descent' which gives the extra damage vs hordes on a charge?
  4. If a marine charges into melee combat against a horde could he still make 'charge' actions vs the horde on following turns? The horde is treated as a single creature so would the charge only count for the initial melee attack of the marine or could he continue 'charging' through the horde?
  5. Nice video Bard, for your first video that was excellent. I'd certainly be interested in the contents of the Oath - I'm planning to run a DW campaign and I'd like to run a scene where the players swear their oath in front of the Omega vault.
  6. There was a special edition of the "Traitor General" book from Black Library which had a soundtrack cd supplied with it. The album is now available on the composer John Bergin's website : http://www.grindertool.com (look under 'music archive'). One of the tracks "Gereon resists" has battle sounds in the background at about the 5:10 mark. You should be able to find the track on youtube if you want a preview. If you don't want to skip ahead to that point each time you could use a audio editing program such as 'Audacity' (free) to copy the battle sounds portion.
  7. One of the best rpg campaign's my gaming group ever played was Arc Dream's Godlike about super-powered soldiers during WWII. It was a blast for the players but also produced some of their most intense roleplaying moments. The trick was to give them more than just 'paper targets' to shoot at - difficult situations and objectives which highlighted the different motivations and characters within the group.
