  1. So far: GREAT! My daughter and I went to the pre-release and cracked 12 packs. Ended up with Han, Luke, Vader, and Kylo Ren's Lightsaber. My daughter was stoked. A couple of things about this game really help me get over the sticker shock of collectability. For one, the max copies of a given card in this game (of any type) is 2. Industry standard for most games is 4. Meaning, in general, you need half as much Destiny as you do other games. Another strong point is the smaller number of cards per pack means you are storing fewer "garbage" cards. Every rare gives you a Die. And at this stage of the game, I think you will be building most of your decks based on how many dice you can cram in there. They are practically this games basic resource.
  2. For a single player looking to maintain one deck (squad?) at a time I would say no. If you are looking to maintain multiple deckss at once (even as few as two), I would say yes. If for no other reason than there are number of high quality blue cards in each deck and the other two colors will be somewhat sparse as you try to assemble them from packs. As a third bullet point, I think it will be much more beneficial to the casual player who is not buying a ton of packs to have the generally useful and somewhat focused contents of two of each starter. If you are planning on playing competitively, and buying many packs, the contents of the second starters are probably replacable by other cards more readily.
  3. I would assume it will be similar to X-Wing, in that you only need one build and that pairings will not be based on faction.
  4. Only thing tht shies me away from CB's list is that I am really not sold on Mindlink. Is it better than having Recon? It would seem the biggest difference would be point savings, but at the expense of not being able to double re-position.
  5. Yeah, the 1 defense die on Zuckuss may be antithetical to what I was going for. Is Talonbane feasible now? Cause, Khiraz is generally considered... suboptimal? I think maybe vectored thrusters helps him substantially. He does still get the five dice at Range 1 that I am so excited to throw FTL on top of with Manaroo. One other question: does Fenn need Fearlessness or Autothrusters? Admittedly, I have never flown any of these ships before. Fly 'em first in tournaments, I always say.... then to the bar...
  6. The generally idea is to put together something similar to Palp Aces, but changing it to the [independent Contractors] faction. Manaroo takes the place of the Palp-Mobile for support, Fenn Rau acts in The Baron's Role as a flanker, and Zuckuss works for a bit of control. Fenn Rau (28) -Push the Limit (3) -Concord Dawn Protectorate (1) Manaroo (27) -Push the Limit (3) -Recon Specialist (3) -R5-P8 (3) Zuckuss (28) -Veteran Instincts (1) -Mist Hunter (0) -Tractor Beam (1) -Ketsu Ono (1) Total: 99 Points My 2 biggest concerns are that it may be better to have a Slaver with multiple crew instead of Zuckuss, because... well: Zuckuss... Secondly , I think I may be getting too cute with the upgrades. It feels like a bit too much of a "test new stuff" build. Cheers!

  8. MajorJuggler put it in the useful links thread pinned to the top, but I can ask for easier access. I'll buy you a case of Fat Tire if you can get him to put a link to the YouTube as well...
  9. Does anyone else find it funny that the guy that put this together is in NE FL, where there are no store championships? FOR SHAME NE FL! Just Kidding, Great Job, Steve! You Less Than Geek Guys are alright... Except Travis.
  10. Turr+VI+AT+HU+RGT BH+IA He was one of my two losses. I can fill in the Champ's squad once I get home. Carlos and I played on Vassal a few days before he went on to win it and I have the logfile with the squad he played. He really deserved the title IMO, he got tabled his first match and just flew casually for the rest of the tourney thinking he didn't have a chance to make top 8. Best part of the tournament for me was meeting the cool players from around the State. The second best part was hearing Carlos apologize to his (verysupportive and present) wife/GF for winning and making the cut. I believe the last squad was dual aggressors B&C with VI+AT+HLC+FBA+AT+FCS+Title, played by Gage. It's possible he didn't make the cut, but unlikely. We were 7th & 8th going into the 5th game and he tabled me with with full MOV. Don't quote me on that without confirmation from another source though. I can confirm. Gage made the cut, and that was his build. Edit: I am bad at internets. Only the last sentence was mine, everything els is a quote.

  12. Hey Everybody! The third video is now live. This one pits our two commentators, Travis and Peyton against each other in the finals of this Store Championship. The lists are the same as they played in the last two videos. It is a slobber-knocker to be sure! https://youtu.be/mmtJHnJHbg4 Our next video should be up on this coming Wednesday (April 1st), and begins the top 4 from the Store Championship at Jax Games Center in Jacksonville, FL. Cheers! Rev. Joe
  13. Hey Everybody! Second video is up now. This is the top 4 from that same tournament. I play with a Decimator (Chireanu + Rebel Captive + Vader + Engine Upgrade) and Firespray (Fett + Lone Wolf + Recon Specialist). My opponent Peyton, who also commentates, plays a YT-1300 (Han + R2 + 3PO + Lone Wolf) and a YT-2400 (Wild Space Fringer + Outrider + HLC). Cheers! Rev. Joe
  14. That was a bit unavoidable. Of the four people in our play group, three ended up in the top 4. So someone was going to have to commentate their own game eventually.
  15. Hey Everybody We just posted our first video on the YouTube, with some light editing and some pretty decent commentary. It was filmed at the Store Championship at Dogs of War in Palm Bay, FL on January 17, 2015. It is a top 8 game between a Dash + Corran build and a Swarmy Rebel (BBBZZ). Link is below: The Top 4 and Championship rounds are soon to come! Cheers! -Rev. Joe /repost from X-Wing Battle Reports
