  1. Thanks jhaelen for the answer. We are a bit new to CoC card game so it is nice to be able to ask questions here. Now that this one is clear I only need to figure out how to play round these two cards :).

  2. Thx for the answer jhaelen

I see your argument but I don´t fully agree on them.

    1. Then you can use peerless tracker in both offense and defense if you have domains enough for it. During your phase you can commit him to a story and then he returns exhausted after the resolution of the stories. Then in your opponents phase you can pay 1 and commit him to a story and get all the bonuses despite that he is exhausted. Have I understood that correctly?

    2. Just because you can't use an actions it dosen´t say that you can use disrupt. Nowhere in the rules it is stated that story resolution are an action. Under disruption it states clearly in the rule book.

    - A Disrupt is a special action that can actually cancel or change an action just taken by the opponent.

an action just taken by the opponent, but a story resolution is not an action but just something that happens when you resolve what happens at a story. So I don´t fully agree on that argument. And just because the rules state that you can´t use actions during resolution but only disrupt and forced response I can´t see why you suddenly could use a disrupt here. Can you pls use another card with a similar affect to make your point clear.

  3. I have tried to find the answer to these question but failed so I will ask them here now. I am sorry if I am double posting.

    1. The card Peerless Tracker has the ability to pay 1 and copy the icons of an opponents character and then commit to the same story that the chosen character is at. If Peerless Tracker is Exhausted can he still use the ability?

    2. st. Hubert´s Key has the ability to disrupt an effect were a character would go insane or get a wound. Can this ability be used during resolution. In my understanding disrupt is used agains actions that a player use against the opponent. In resolution no player use actions, right?

    From the rulebook:

A Disrupt is a special action that can actually cancel or change an action just taken by the opponent. Remember that all actions are fully resolved before the next action may be taken. The disrupt ac- tion can create the only exception to this rule.

Both cards seems a bit extreme and very good for the cost, especially st. Hubert´s Key if you can use it during the resolution phase.

This is a figure with lots of details but really fun to paint. I also changed the base to a clear one!

    /Oathman

PS: if anyone could tell me how to post pictures in this forum I would be grateful, I use Photobucket but can´t get the images to work properly!

  5.  Thx för the nice comments sonrojado.gif

Noxize: I used GW:s black undercoat, worked very well I must say. Then I used a mix of citadel and vallejo paints to paint the miniature. It has a lot of detail and it was fun to paint it. Sorry to say I have not been able to paint for a week now but will soon start on one more of the characters.

The base is from Fenris games, http://www.fenrisgames.com/ , it is a clear acrylic 25mm base. I then cut of the original base, fairly easy since the plastic is soft and then I drilled a hole in the foot of the miniature and a hole in the base. I put a little pin in between and some super glue and it it still in place...

  6.  Hi all

I have now started the painting on the COG:s. The idea here is to just paint the COG:s and let the Locust be gray (for the time beeing, at least ;)).

Finished the first COG:s late last night and here he is:

This is Damon Baird. I had a lot of truble deciding what colours to use since every picture of the characters are different lighting and different colours but then I just decided to paint him as I wanted to.

I will change the base on him later when I get some clear plastic bases, they are on the way from England...

    /Oathman

Hmm did not get the pictures to work... what to do?

  7. How many grenade tokens can I have on a COG? Damon Baird can activate equipment with out playing a card. In the first mission, Emergence I can colect grenades in room 12A and not discard the room card. Can I then stay there and mass up on grenades?

  9.  Well got the game now. I have played 3 games, two solo and one with two players. Only played the first scenario and haven´t made it jet. But this is a really good game. The rules are easy to remember and very logical. The game play is intence and a lot happens all the time. I must say that this is one off the best games FFG have done IMHO!

Love the way the cards represent youre health and that you can use them in different ways!

Well enouch rantings for now got the get me some...

  10.  Hmm I was hoping it was the fine quality as the Mansions of Madness miniatures in the harder plastic and the glued to the base... Well the miniatures look real nice anyway and it is just plastic so cutting them lose can´t be that  much of a problem. Are the plastic soft like the Descent too?

Well thx for the answer about the base size anyway. Will order some 25mm bases tomorrow...

    /Oathman

  11.  Hi all

What is the base size on the miniatures in the game. The game is just starting to arrive here in Sweden and I hope I will be able to buy a set soon. I intend to paint all the miniatures and start with the main characters. But I also want to rebase them on some clear acrylic bases and I want to get the bases as fast as possible so I can be ready when I have got hold of the game. So anyone, what base sizes do I need to rebase the miniatures in Gears of War?

    /Oathman

  12.  Whoo easy now all! I am not angry at anyone and was not writing this post becaus I thought that FFG was mean to me. I understand how economi works pefectly well and I am prepared to buy my games like anyone else. But I don´t want to buy this game on ebay for overprice when I know that FFG has a reprint on the go and I like to buy my games new. I am just a bit frustrated that I can´t get hold of this game thats all. And that is bit of a compliment to FFG since I want there games so bad gran_risa.gif... I am also waiting to get my hands on Gears of War for examplepreocupado.gif.

    So easy now all!

    /Oathman

  13.  Thx all for youre support gui%C3%B1o.gif

I just had to write some of the frustration from my mind... I spoke with a store today that thought they would get the core set in about two weeks so it is just a matter of time. Since I live in Sweden I don´t want to order from USA since it cost so much in shipping. But thx all for youre kind words it warms a gaming addicts heart!

    /Oathman

  14.  Well I tried AGoT LCG with a friend that had some decks. I was immediately hooked and thougt that this game I must have! But I can´t get hold of it anywere and now I know that the Core set is soon here and all is fine. But I was thinking that I should be a head som what and buy some of the expansion before the core set just to be ready when the core set comes. But all the expansions are also sold out or out of stock!

What is this I want to start with a new game but I can´t get my hands on it! Irritated to say the least!

Sorry for my rantings but I think that FFG should have there products out there so people can buy them and not like this, that I am forced to hunt like a mainiac for it only to find out that there is nowere to be found!

I am a game addict and when I want a game I want it NOW! ;)

  15.  Hi all

Today we played a game and this question came upp, must the cavalry make a pursuit move to be able to do combat one extra time or is it enough to make the gain ground move and still do combat? As I understand it the cavalry can do the gain ground move and the pursuit move is the extra hex a cavalry unit can move after the gain ground move. In the rule book the exampel explains it as a cavalry unit can make the gain ground move and then return to its original position and then it had made a pursuit move.

Well can anyone explain this to me please preocupado.gif

  16.  I thank you all for youre comments and suggestions. I have ordered Call to Arms now and will soon see for my self what it holds. The thought about campaines I will ponder over a bit more since I like that type of games when the battle actually means more than just bashing heads. I have made camapines in 40k and Whfb and DBA in miniatures but would like to get this game to funktion in that role to since I like the rules for Battlelore and think that the quicknes of the game will make it ideal for campain games.

    /Oathman

  17. Then I take it that "Call to arms" has a way of making armies of youre own design. And that the system in CtA can be modified to support campain games were the players can raise armies and make battle with the Battlelore rules. If anyone of you have thougt of a system for this I would be very grateful if you would share those thoughts with me.

I am also sceptical to a point system since it is a rater crude tool to make balanced battles. But it is a way to try to get it a bit even. I know that different types of units have different strenghts and weakneses depending on were on the field they are deployd. But that is up to the player to place his army in such a good position he can find. I would like to be able to deploy my army after my own design and not just after a predecedied adventure were my generalship only is to figure out how to use the troops best as already deployed on the field.

Well got to find and buy Call to Arms then wont I!

    /Oathman

  18. Hi to you all

I am just wondering how to balance the adventures. I am also a person who likes to larger campaines and was thinking about useing Battlelore to resolve conflicts in the campaine. But how can I balance the armies in this and how can I get resource managment in to it, the units cost resources etc. I was thinking about giving each of the units a cost so the palyer could buy his army and maintain his army with the resources the player gets from his kingdom. My initial tought was this:

I have used the normal blue sword infantry as a base at 2 points.

    Pts    Unit

    1       Green inf

    2       Blue inf

    3       Red inf

    3       Bows/Crossbows

    2      Green cav

    3     Blue cav

    4     Red cav

I used the first adventure in the rulebook and if I used this system the french would have 26 points and the English 24 points. The french have 10 units and the english 9 units.

I have jut recently bought this game so I am not familiare with all that regards Battlelore. If there are other posts that have a similar content I appologise for dubbelposting. Is there an expansion that deals with customise youre own armies?

Please do criticise this since it´s just a tought and if you know someone that all ready have done this, please point me in the right direction!

Play well and may the dice roll youre way!

  19. Thx for the answers! Well RtL is a must buy for me and I am going to get it next month. Hopefully my group have played a couple of games by then. But it seems that if you are the overlord in a campaign you can´t change overlord in midgame. We were thinking of letting the role of overlord rotate between us so all got to play heroes once in a while (who don´t want to be a hero!)... But well we will change between campaigns insteed then.

    Thx again and play well!

    /Oathman

  20.  Hi again

Well at the moment I have Descent core rules and nothing more. I am looking at Roads to legend and I am going to buy that set soon. But now to my question. What do I need to play RtL and can I use the dungeons in JitD to RtL or must I create the dungeons my self?

I know that RtL is an expansion that make the game more of a campaign and that the heroes can improve over time. But could someone please tell me a little bit more about it?

    /Oathman

  21.  Hi all

I bought Descent journeys in the dark last week. Me and a friend have tried it out with me as Overlord and he as the Heroes. Must say that this is a really, really good game. We got stuck right a way. It was very easy to get in to the game and learn the rules and all questions that we had could be solved with the FAQ. The only thing that was a bit sad was that it was really hard for the heroes when there only were two of them. We have only tried the first dungeon and he has not jet finished it. I, as an Overlord have to much monsters and traps etc to make life hard for the heroes. But we have a good time and we like the game a lot. The combat solution with the special dice etc is really nice. We are both old roleplayers but since our families grow we don´t have time for the hard core roleplaying anymore and this seems like a good way for us to go. A roleplay light game so to speak. We are going to make our own characters and buy Roads to Legend and take it from there. We are a group that are going to try meet at a regular basis and play this game.

My friends and I have many of the games from FFG and this one is my favorit at the moment. Not suprisingly since it is the newest game... But I think this will be one of the games we play most in the future.

Well may the gods of dice be on youre side (if you are an Overlord, that is...)

    /Oathman
