  1. I don't see why there could not be other sideboards. Arkham, San Francisco etc. I think the game could still have a lot of potential.

    Expansion Plans

I enjoy this game also, play it a lot. I was wondering what expansions might be in the works. There are plenty of cards now but I was wondering if it would go "outside" the museum or an artifact might send you somewhere else. Anyone else got ideas?

    Ancient One Awaken?

My wife and I have been playing a lot and really like this game. Our games last over an hour, sometimes an hour and a half. We have the expansion also. I think it added a lot. I play with the harder Mytho cards. It seems however that we sometimes get devoured but the Ancient One does not seem to be much of a scare. We seem to watch our sanity and stamina more than the doom track although a couple of games have been close. We usually win and it seems a challenge but again not from the Ancient One. I have read a few similar posts here. Any ideas or houserules for the Ancient Ones.

    Ancient One Awaken?

thanks, I will check it out.
  5. Jake yet again said: Drakson said: My wife and I play 2 investigators each and usually one big expansion, favorite is Innsmouth. I really like the look of it also. We play personal stories, relationship, injury and madness, epic battle, Miskatonic and the gates from Lurker. Occasionally we play a herald or a small expansion. I don't seem to get much out of the small expansions however except the Curse of the Dark Pharoah because of putting the expansions cards on top to get more theme. I suppose as far as new product for this game there will not be any. I do wish I was better at card printing etc for some of the fantastic player cards and expansions. One guy her a year or so ago had a really neat expansion from the River Docks I think. Do you have any more information about that "river Docks" expansion? I must have missed that one - unless you mean Door to Saturn, where you can travel to Arabia and Antarctica and the like. (It's a v. good expansion, BTW, well worth a look) As for custom material, I discuss this in depth in the design notes for Lovecraft Country (see my sig), but basically, with the exception of monsters (which have a tactile quality that is difficult to reproduce manually) if you've got a lot of custom material in any deck, it doesn't matter too much as you're not going to remember what's custom and what's not. If you haven't got a lot of material, you'll need to moderate it in some manner. Some examples might include: When a monster surge occurs, draw your a monster from the custom monster cup and place it on the surging gate. Use spawn monsters in your monster cup, when you draw a spawn monster, replace that monster with a draw from the custom monster cup. Draw your custom mythos / gate cards / small cards, etc. whenever the Ancient One is at the end of a row of the AO track. It was in the section above that players make up. Had good cards etc and was a side board off the river docks with ships, swimming from island, rusty weapons, all kinds of stuff. I remember a few people here printing it out. I just wasnt and still not good at printing out cards etc and making them look very good

  7. Joe Diamond and Silas are my favorites and the Innsmouth my favorite expansion. I have not played all investigators yet even though I have played for about 2 or 3 years so far. We don't always randon draw and if we do we draw 3 and pick 2 each because my wife and I always play with 2 investigators each.

    Worth getting?

I have not played yet but I like the theme. I picked up all expansions and figures except the Japan figures although I bought that expansion. How do the Japan figures add to the game. I just figures I like the Nazi, Russian and American forces better.

  10. Can you play Omens on a Kindle fire.
  11. My wife and I always play 2 investigators each. We beat Zhar once (or should I say twice), 3 investigators died and we were about down to our last dice roll. Beat Quachil Uttaus once and he seems hard because of the immunity but just seems plain wierd, I like him. Y'Golonac we beat once, very close. We used Epic cards all the time. Still we are not the best players, but AH is our favorite game. I sometimes don't know why we make it so hard on ourselves but it seems the harder the more enjoyment AH gives you, especially if you win.

Disney buying Star Wars from George Lucas

I have liked all the Star Wars films, well maybe a little disappointed on III with those little bear things running around. Anyway I have never understood a lot of the discontent that some fans have had with George Lucas. What is that all about? I would look forward to more Star War movies. I have always heard Lucas had 10 episodes. Again I have liked all the movies but not such a fan I recall all people, ships, planets etc.

    Preordering 2nd wave ships

I am perordering 1 millenium falcon, 2 A wings, 2 TIE Interceptors and at least 1 Slave 1. However even though the Slave 1 reminds me of a flying Mr. Potato Head it is my favorite ship. I am thinking of ordering 2 but do not know point value and wonder if 2 of the larger ships would ever be needed. How many ships are you astromechs ordering? Just wondering, and what are you favorite ships. The Millennium Falcon I love but the flying Mr. Potato Head is just such a weird looking ship it makes me want 2 of them although I was going to order 3 and tamed that idea.

    target lock 360

Can you do a target lock as long as the "target" is in a 360 degree range of you, in other words it does not have to be in your firing arc. However, to attack the target next or later turn would it have to be in your firing arc and range or can you just shoot the target as long as it is with 360 degree range. On the other hand, I think this game is a lot of fun to play, and it was nice to be able to play almost right out of the box with mostly easy to understand and short rules. Anyone got any idea of how many points the next expansions are? It seems it would be hard to kill the M. Falcon or Slave Ship.

    Initiative: Any Discernible Benefit?

If you are not playing by points the initiative goes to Imperial, and since they usually got beat in the movies, that may be one other reason initiative is not always best.

    Rules update/New Rules

I wonder how many different fighter ships will eventually be in this game. I have not read the books but I guess some of the fighters like the next TIE INTERCEPTOR must be from the books unless somehow my beady little eyes missed it in the films. Looks super sharp. I like the simple rules because that keeps the game moving fast like a good dogfight should. I like epic boardgames, have all expansions to Arkham Horror for example and many other games but it sure was fun to open X-WING and play, only missed a rule or so. I got 2 core, 2 TIE, 1 TIE ADVANCED, 1 Y and 1 X. Looking forward to other expansions. Just got Leviathans in today and although it will be fun the rules are quite a bit more. For example , six or more areas on all four sides to keep track of etc.

    target lock 360

Thanks for reply do quickly. Yes game is really balanced with great rules. I like the simultaneous rule with both pilots that are equal getting to both try and kill the other. It would seem with the new expansions of Falcon and Slave ship that the point value of 100 may soon be a little small. Love this game, it is the first miniature game I have played. I think I will look into others.

From the core rules…future LARGE units!

I do not have this game yet. But I wouldn't mind a big starship just to hang from the ceiling in the gameroom with the playing table underneath it. Just for atmosphere.

    Additional Dice

BTW, one of the guys was at Fantasy Flight Games last week and said almost everyone asked for extra dice when one of the designers said they would probably make them if their was enough interest.

    Additional Dice

I would get 4 extra sets. I played this game two times at Epic Games in Centerville, Ohio as they were had a Demo going. One set for 5 players was not enough and we were always asking or rolling dice to another player. I think each player should have his own set as well as OverLord. Personally I like each having their own set in any game I play and enough dice where you usually do not have to roll some and then roll again. I often have different colored dice for the player and different for the monster if you are rolling for each such as in ATOE of Fortune and Glory. For Arkham Horrow each player usually has 2 sets or 10 dice each but sometimes there we do have to roll some extra. I bought the AH special Elder Sign dice for each player up to 4. In most games I almost never use the dice that came with the set unless they are special like in Descent. I also like to pick different colors with other games to play with each time although when I bought a bunch of extra dice I had in mind certain colors for different games I had. As far as Descent Demo today it was really fun. I had the version one but never had played it, going to sell it and get the Version 2 as I like the dungeon tiles, smaller monsters, even though some are still large. I like the cards replacing many of the extra tokens of Version 1. Everyone talked today of how the game seemed to be balanced no matter what Heros were playing with other Heros. People already had their favorites.

    Third wave coming

Are most of you buying as many minatures as there are monster tokens in AH and expansions, or just one or so of each? Same as regards to investigators. Anyone using the minatures while playing Elder Sign?
  22. Could Warhammer be played with One GM and One Player? Could the player play a couple of different characters? We often play 2 characters each when playing board games, AH, Wrath of Ashadalon, Conquest of Planet Earth etc but have never played any roleplaying games. My wife and I have been thinking of playing some of these types of games but are new to it and not sure if it would be a good time with just the two of us.

    One GM and One player

Ya, I figured I would be the GM and she could play at least two characters so it would be like 3 people playing. I thought that at least if she was playing 2 the fighting etc would be more exciting. I just didn't know if the rules and or the game would be fun playing that way. It seems like this game is more newbie friendly than jumping into some of the other roleplaying games. Since I have not played these types of games is it an ongoing campaign like game or a bunch of shorter games. I just watched the videos and like the looks of the components. Is any other thing needed like a map etc.
  24. What is the best order to buy all the expansions? I was reading the rules in one expansion that said you needed the other expansions first etc. Do you usually play the base game with one other expansion at a time or would multiple expansions be needed for some campaigns? Thanks in advance.
  25. I know that game shops probably have higher overhead than some mail order places but I would like to see some kind of discount when buying the games at the shop. There are two shops around here, one that does not offer any discount but is big, like about 3500 to 4000 square feet. It has plenty of tables in the back room where most people play warhammer but some play french and indian war and some play civil war. Other tables are in the larger area for people to play. They even have a large table that holds about 10 people where they can paint their minatures. They sell lots of cookies, soda and candy which I think is good for the people that play there although I don't eat the stuff. The problem there is they must make their money selling space at the tables and selling candy because except for Warhammer the stock pretty well sucks. I went there a couple of days ago and they had even less stock. I must admit however that about 4 months ago they did a major overall and put in new carpet and changed the place around and it is pretty clean. I have never played there however, just mainly go to look at games from time to time but like I said they don't have much and now not even any card games at all. The other shop is about 30 miles away and I went there and bought a few games at 15% off but after you pay tax it is like 8% off. But at least they discount and have a lot of stock. Their games room is downstaits in a basement that is HOT. It is super crowded, mayb e 6 Warhammer size tables 6x4 feet and too high to sit and play cards, the garbage cans are always full. I played Warhammer the Invasion card games there a few times. My cards still stick together the place is so filthy. I stopped going there completely. The weird thing is their bathroom was pretty clean, probably the only clean area in the shop. So..........I just play at home now. I order quite a few games online at 30 to 35% off, get free shipping over a certain amount and no sales tax. I like co-op games but have others. The thing about Arkham Horror is it can ruin just about any other game because it is so much fun. Looking forward to the new expansions.
