I am with Crow on this. I still don't see a sexist view on this game. It really does feel like a troll post because of the far reach on that accusation. It was said that you get "bogged down in the semantics of insider "Lore" in regards to the characters sexes with the Brotherhood and super mutants. Well, the game is designed to appeal to Fallout fans and those said fans are expecting that "insider lore" because that is what is in the video game that they are now are excited is on the table top. You can't throw out lore just to fit your specific view point.
When I play Uncharted, Nathan Drake is a guy. I don't feel that is oppressive or sexist because that is how the story & game were written. When playing Tomb Raider, Lara Croft is a woman. Again, I don't feel that is oppressive or sexist because that is how that particular story & game was written. Fallout was was made in a certain way with its own lore. Fans of all 3 games expect the lore to remain, no matter what the medium is. If they made a Tomb Raider board game, you can expect everyone will want to play the Lara Croft figure because that is the lore and the main character. You won't see people complaining about the lack of some forced in "dude bro" figure to even the sexes count because that is just plain stupid. It doesn't fit the story or lore.

This seems like complaining for the sake of complaining. It is a game about Fall Out. Of course the characters you play will be based on the lore of the game. It is what is expected.

I think this whole thing is stupid. It is all based around assumptions. OP assumes the Brotherhood and Super Mutant are males and thus feels there needs to be more women. What if I assume those figures are female? Lore can back either point of view but in the end, assuming gets you nowhere. The first 3 letters of that word are what we look like when we assume. Being an SJW over an assumption is even worse. Asking for additional, more gender specific models only creates more traps. Increased production costs for starters. Then people will want transgender figures or any of the other flavor of preference out there (I am starting to lose count). As it stands, the game really has what, 2 confirmed male characters in the Vault Dweller and the Ghoul? 1 confirmed female and 2 which can go either way. That seems pretty balanced to me.

your insulting people that post on this thread.   Don't act like you don't talk down to people or act like a smartass.  This is not even about sexism. Your just trolling new people with your b.s.  ?
every time someone post with something you don't agree with, it's that can't you see this might be sexist line of crap. I really don't care what you think. More power too you. But you preaching on your soapbox is old and tired.  No one's here not for women in games. Yet you've made  it like it's this whole thread vs 2 people.   If you really believe in this and your not trolling pick a better fight.

Your fight is not with fantasy flight games. Or anyone here on the forms.  Maybe refocus that to a company etc that is sexist. I just want to be clear I support women in games.  I'm down for everyone having fun. I don't think there are barriers in board games.

If you think there are, or find a game has a gender gap and it bugs you. Maybe that says the problem  is with you.  I've played with women who just want to be a guy token. Or they like the almost nude mini girl. Or maybe they want to be something not human. Same with guys.

I'm not looking to fight with you. But your very pushy.it  Just  rubs people the wrong way online.  If your not troll then go fight against real sexism. Cause there's none here.
What I will say is for sure a troll is the op posted this and never looked back.

I've said my peace on this matter.
Just ignore this guy not worth our time.

Still No female gamers have said they are bothered .. something I would expect to happen very quickly with the title of this thread, that says it all for me.
Just no point when the Social Justice Brigade .. or maybe Trolls? arrive
I will throw away all my Lara Croft things today, how stupid i have been, a male having anything to do with such a Sexist female centric franchise, i should have been demanding more male characters in that for years.
    I'm done with this thread

So at work today I asked 13 people if this
11 of them women,  not one  of them cared or thought this was sexist.  Same with others.

At this point someone else's perspective  seems just to be really yours. as I'm going to call you out for just trolling.

By this messed up logic if I buy my daughter a my little pony set and it comes with 3 girl and one boy it's sexist. .....  Done feeding the troll in thread.

And see, that is where the issue lays. It is a game that is appealing to the fans of that franchise. You water that down and/or change that and you upset your target audience, which are fans of the Fallout game and lore. This game wasn't initially designed for those who are ignorant of Fallout. Otherwise, they would have made a new IP. This is a licensed game because they want to draw on those fans and pull them into the board game market, if they weren't already. We saw that a little bit with the Bioshock game, Doom, Gears of War, etc... There is a distinct lack of female characters in those games as well but it isn't sexist because that is how the video games are and to change that would piss off the fans.
Like I said earlier, new IPs, I am all for more diversity. This industry could use it. My previous example of Ashes is a great example. They have male phoenixborn, female phoenixborn, and phoenixborn of a variety of races and it is awesome. Something there for everyone in addition to being a great game. But in this instance, your fight just doesn't fit or work. If you have an issue with that area, you need to hit up Bethesda.

I agree, the thread title and to a lesser extent the first post were a little over the top (and the threat title would seem to suggest the original poster does actually know the lore reasonably well), but the conversation has moved on since then.  It's not the original poster being told to stop whining, he hasn't been involved since the first post; it's other people making a perfectly measured point about how addressing the OPs concerns, however minor you may think they are, would be a) nice and b) harmless, who are somehow being accused of whining, soapboxing, trying to change the lore, hypocrisy because they're not complaining about other games, and other such nonsense that makes so little sense it's not worth individually responding to.
On a side note - I only just realised the like button could be clicked directly rather than waiting for the pop-up menu and then selecting something from it!  I'd been doing trophies until now as I didn't realise there was a simple like option - doh!

I don't think anyone is against girls in the game.  But to make a thread and call this game sexist is wrong.  What I'm not for is forcing  games, movies, art books etc to bend to appease people. Once you force that it's no longer art or freedom. This goes all ways.

Make great games movies art etc. Don't just shoehorn in things.  Everyone has different views. No one is right or wrong.

I doubt this game will even see a expansion. As more characters miniatures might have been  added. Fantasy flight games base on video games don't have a good track record for that.

At the end of the day, fantasy flight games has put a ton of female characters in its other games.

It all stems from the actual start of this thread. "Sexism never changes". Granted, this thread has taken many twists and turns along the way and has ended up with a few people just standing on their soap boxes, arguing just to say they argued for something. I was (and am) never against more frequency of female characters in anything. From books to games to movies. I could care less. But to blast this game because there are fewer "perceived" female characters and lore be damned, well I don't know what else to tell you.

Have kept on asking all the women and girls I know ... Work, Friends etc. .... still yet to find a single one that is bothered about the sex of a playing piece in a boardgame
Now here is the problem with the above quote: That is how you can get Women put on company boards, in politics and may other things ... for no other reason than to show your not some kind of sexist .... doesn't matter if the women can do what they are asked to do, doesn't matter if they are qualified or the best person for the job ... got have a woman to show your equal .... MAYBE the reason there aren't that many female CEO's etc. is Because Women Don't Actually Want To Do Those Things, Maybe they just consider others things to be more important in life than grabbing power and climbing up the ladders .... and in the same way Maybe there is only 20% female gaming population just coz the others Are Not Interested in Gaming!!! .. i know its a crazy thought but maybe they dont play games, not because of the lack of female gender characters, but just coz they would prefer to go to a club, go to a gym, take a night class, or many other reasons.
oh and by the way ... Fallout: 5 characters at least 1 female, so that is 20% of characters ... so it does at least meet present female ratio ... rising to 40% if your not a sexist who believes only men can wear power armour!

I agree we should have women characters in game where appropriate for the lore. I don't want to see female Supermutants or a redesigned power armor to make it obviously female. I would love to see a female minute man, or a raider, or even a brotherhood of steel palidan with her helmet off. Even a female gen 3 synth could be an option.

The fact that most people looking at the models automatically identify the BoS Outcast as male says more about the patriarchal society we live in than about FFGs forward thinking or lack thereof. One would think that recent films and series with strong females in armor (Game of Thrones Brienne of Tarth and Star Wars General Phasma for example) would've changed that.
One might also add that both Briennes and Phasmas armor are indistinguishable from the male versions, as is the Power Armor.

Seriously? this is your concern about the game?
we happen to have a 100% Male group, not one issue was raised when one of us has to play the female character in the game ... or any other game, such as Eldritch Horror .. in Fact we quite often go with female characters in Horror as they seem to have the better advantages. thinking back even with Cluedo who cared who was Miss Scarlet or Mrs White?? can't help but feel the SJW are getting everywhere
My Point, its Just a game, if someone looks at a playing piece and says "I can't possibly play that character, its a different sex to me" i think that says more about the player than the game

I'm suspect the OP is trolling, which makes me wonder how this thread was even allowed to post, considering that every post I make is being policed by moderators...

but I'd like to chime in, if that is okay.

I mean, if I was an SJW, I would be in all caps right now "did you just assume the gender of the BOS and the Super Mutant characters?!"
I am not an SJW, just an avid fan of the Fallout Universe.
I use caps(not the currency, the other kind of caps) for emphasis, not anger.
    This game has
The Vault Dweller, who is clearly male.
The Wastelander, who is clearly female
The BOS Outcast, whose gender is not visible, considering that the BOS has both males and females and they both look exactly the same in the power armor and there are several prominent female BOS characters in across all the games who all wear power armor.
The Ghoul, who is clearly male, but also a ghoul...although, it IS established in the video games that ghouls do have working...parts... and there are even ghoul prostitutes to cater to certain people's "preferences"
and The Super Mutant, whom as others above have already stated is androgynous and sterile. Several super mutants in the video games have asserted their gender. one(I belive its name is Fawkes, you find it in Fallout 3) claims to be female and explains that male and female super mutants look the same. while in new vegas, you find a super mutant companion that is female and talks like a granny and wears a granny wig to express her gender.  however, given that they are sterile, I'm leaning toward the idea that the majority of super mutants are gender neutral or genderless and they themselves, do not have gender expression in their society as most of them don't even remember their lives as humans and probably don't even know what sex they were to begin with.

    so, what we have is
    NOT
    4 males,
    1 female,

    WE HAVE
    1 male
    1 female
    1 undeclared
    1 neuter
1 walking corpse, formerly male, possibly with working male plumbing...

I would say that's actually pretty diverse and progressive, IMO.
I mean, the ghoul DOES start off vilified, so people in the wasteland might not be as open minded as I am,but hey.

    ok so here we go......
The super mutatns have no gender and if you actaully want to get technical they are mostly formally women, next you have no idea what the gender of the figure in power armor is, and fianlly you are only assuming that the ghoul is a man based on the way the figure is dressed. When actually the Ghouls of the waste land have been so exposed to radiation they are basically genderless.
Final count: one male vault dweller, one female wastelander, one unknown BoS outcast, and two genderless creatures of the wasteland.
Of course this entire discussion is really moot as being male or female has no impact at all on the game.

Well, it´s been an intense and thrilling week-end in my city! I am happy I could assist the event (believe it or not this is a personal success due to my diminishing family points), and I could enjoy a full day of gaming and all that is around it. Congratulations to the winner, and to everyone who had fun!
It was great to meet again some of the long-time-friend spanish players I met in other games, stores, events and similar. I could also shake hands with some people from Imperial advisor I have been reading the last couple of months, they were kind and commited in person as in the blog, and I had a whole day of gaming and fun.
The Torii was gorgeous, the place was comfortable, the organization was able to handle 450 people without collapsing (at least at the time I left they were all alive and more or less sane), and they were kind to the last and to the end.

The only black spot I could mention is the initial delay, and I only want to mention it in order to help the organization being aware of it and work to enhance that in the future. I will try to add some ideas for that.
I read in IA that there was some problem with the Underground which delayed like half of the attendants, and the organization had to decide: having an almost blank round 1, which I agree would have ruined the event, or delaying the kick-off. In that case, decision was correct. My experience was: I went by car, was there at 9:00 am, but as the location had a security check-in in a two by two basis, I had to wait a long time since the opening to get in. And there was a long line beyond me so I assume like half the people got inside later than I did.
Considering the best scenario and assuming all 450 players are at 9:00 am at the doors, and each one spends 15 secs entering the place through the 2 security arcs (non-torii), it would have been almost 1 hour to complete. This is unavoidable, unless the organization can negociate an early door opening with the local management, which I doubt was on their hands. All I can say about this is that it could have been anticipated, and schedule adjusted to it.
After that, it took some time to recopilate all decklists and check-in the tournament. I personally am a fan of the online deck registration, the day before. Maybe would have saved half an hour. But as I never discussed this with anyone, I ignore if there are drawbacks to this.
Then, the first roundpairing caused further delay. Again, my proposal would be to anticipate when possible with an online check-in the day before, and have a round one pairing scheduled. Specially when the first round is not published in social media. This would have given a spread player-table check and saved more time in the relocating issue after the chant. The worst scenario for this is a % of players doing the check-in the day before and then not assisting the event. I really think this would be quite a minority of people, and could have produced just a few auto loss in the first round. In case a relevant % of players were not in the place on time, as it seems to have been the case, delaying the kick off could be the sollution, but after that, no further delay would have happened.
My suggestion is an organization schedule as follows: Anticipate online check-in and decklist info the day before, and have a round 1 pairing scheduled. Then, IF 25% (or whatever % is correct based on organization experience) players are not in place at the time, delay the kick off as a measure to avoid diminishing the event. If less than the agreed % of players are out, then going on with first round and when someone is late or is not,  it is a win to their rival.
I have no training and little experience in event organization, so I am sure the features of my proposal can be enhanced, but I think some ideas can be used.
Of course, I try to write this all in a constructive way, even when it took most of my post. I would like to clarify that, for what I saw (saturday only) it was a great event, well conducted and organized, and fully competitive at the highest level. And it was, by all means, quite fun.

I played three good matches and missed one round due to being late (my fault). The games where 2 victories vs Crane and Dragon and 1 loss vs Crane. I ended quite happy with my Dragon Monk deck, as my target was qualifying to the 2nd stage and I got it. I take it as a good result as my monks deck is still under construction (centipede tatoo incoming, written in the stars ahead!) and I have only played like 15-16 games of l5r at this time. I knew the spanish kotei would be hard and highly competitive, so any further qualification was out of my scope. The games showed me the potential of my deck and I had the advantage of surprise in one of them. I dropped to play a side event with some friends, and though we had a lot of fun in it, I would have liked to see the performance of the deck in the second stage… but one can not have it all.
That is all. I tried to say thanks to the people who worked in the event for their efforts and for the patience and kindness they showed. I have the feeling I need more of this, maybe I can join another kotei in a country nearby… lets count my family points again…

I suggest following the results in the Imperial Advisor, in
    http://imperialadvisor.com/wp/2017/12/02/meta-check-madrid/

They are working on the reports now, more data will come in time.
