Welcome Aboard the Shuttle Tydirium Podcast!  We are the Mothership of Casual X-Wing.

We are a podcast dedicated to discussing content about the X-Wing miniatures game that is beyond the standard tournament formats (200 pt lists).  We love Missions and Epic play (can't wait!!!!!).  We love campaigns - both Heroes of the Aturi Cluster & Flight Group Alpha are some of the best X-Wing around - and develop some of our own along the way.  We review different aspects of the game, including fan generated content, and generally try to have fun with all the toys, not just the ships that are seen on tournament tables.  When it comes to missions & scenarios, we play through them and find all the errors you might make.  We make the mistakes so you don't have to!  So sit back, relax and let the crew of the Shuttle Tydirium take you for an enjoyable flight through X-Wing casual play.

anthemius reacted to That Blasted Samophlange in Painting after two decades of, well, not painting. (Now with Boba)
As someone getting back into painting, after getting considerably older, I'm liking them.   They have worked well for me.   For cloth and organic surfaces they can work wonders, hence the scales.   If you are painting a lot of miniatures, say for Zombicide, I think they will be great.
The one I used on Bossk’s scales, I also plan on using on the B1 battle droids when they come out.
The two things I recommend the most are you use the contrast medium to thin out the contrast colours.   It is what I did with Bossk’s flight suit, otherwise that specific yellow comes out very orange when it pools.  Also, you have to be careful about missing spots on a model.   Often times, you may not notice until it dries.
I don't have it handy, just this moment, but I did Darth Vader in the Black, and it worked wonderfully.   Very quick.   Did some areas again to make darker, such as the helmet.
All in all, they add another tool in your painting pipeline, but they don't replace all.   But for doing Bossk, I found the scales came out perfect for very little effort.   I was dreading the dewback, but I think with the right colours, it will be easy-peasy.
Edit:  the White will not give you a bright white, more of a grey, so the contrasts won't help much with Stormtroopers, but I have to try priming them in a bright white and diluting the apothecary white to just go into the grooves and such.   Battledroids will be painted in a day.

Do you really find this semantic distinction you're trying to make a stimulating conversation here? People are politely pointing out that it's a really poor argument about the intentions of the tournament regulations when weighed against its presence in the regulations in the first place, but if you want that spelled out there you go

Respectfully you've said your bit on this now and anyone who was going to be convinced has been. Can we all perhaps take the "tournament RAW" discussion to another thread at this point to leave this one open for actual discussions of the article and impacts here? I'm fine with continuing to discuss whether dice sharing itself makes sense as that is one of the recommendations in the article, but I don't think arguing semantics of the current tournament rules is appropriate.

Thank you for this.  My plan is now to always ask my opponent to share dice for anything. And of course, if he says “No,” I will stare right into his eyes while I put away the dice I offered, and slowly pull out a different box of dice and say, “thanks!”

So this is my attempt to magnetize the landspeeder with as little destruction as possible.
First cut through the four front posts.

Then Drill out post in these locations. I started small then worked up to a 7/32 bit for the main body and 1/8 on the engines.

Work the back free along seems

Glue in magnets is pictured locations

Then fill with green stuff or other similar product

FYI i was able to do this because of a post i saw over on reddit that gave me a visual as to where the post where located. They seemed to get it apart with a freezing and prying method but that was not working for me.

Yes, lore-wise it does not make sense for the FO to have a prototype and to use it for its SF, but I love the color scheme.
