ooops. Yeh ok, I am a bit of a noob to forums although I have played the main game for a while now. I have crossed over from Memoir 44 and I am really enjoying this game. I have just bought all the expansions except for the Hundred Years War which is obviously hard to find.
Apologies for my above weak attempt at off the wall tongue in cheek humour, and for not searching the forums for previous posts on the above. However, my post was meant to act like a battle cry and rally further troops to the cause with more posts of 'me too'. Instead I look behind me only to see the tumble weed drifting across the plains...
Am i right in thinking that there is a hard core out there who know what the editor is and what it offers, and who want it, but are obviously bored with another post on the subject? To those people, I say, lets not sit in silence and lets start an online petition in this forum somewhere to ask/demand for the return of the editor. Apathy achieves nothing. A long list of names here might achieve nothing too. But, this is the publishers forum, and there is more chance that we get the editor if we make a fuss than if we don't.
Also, what about my suggestion of paying a hiked fee for the editor, say 15 Dollars. That would cover Days of Wonders current fee for an editor (6 dollars) and plenty over for FFG to cover their costs too. Again if anyone else has any ideas on how to get DOW and FFG to come together on this, then lets put them forward with the petition.
On the subject of petitions on forums they do work. I know for a fact that on the Memoir 44 forums the Germans petitioned for german language editions of rules cards scenarios and expansions and have had great success. As a german speaker I have viewed the german Battlelore fan site and they too are very positive in their approach to achieving concessions from FFG and DOW.
My final point is to establish the value of a scenario editor to the Battllore community anyway. I have admitted that I am a relative noob to Battlelore and I am wondering if its importance is less to the Battlelore community than it is to Memoir 44's. I say this only because Battlelore has the expansion A Call to Arms which allows for the easy creation of new scenario's and battles. This is lacking in Memoir 44, so perhaps the editor is of more value to that game, in terms of its necessity for replay value. Also, to the senior members on the forum, I would say not to forget that there are always new people getting in to the game who will not have seen the DOW editor and who will not understand what it has to offer in terms of its sheer quality as a product. Its superb print quality is just one of its benefits. We need to make new gamers aware of its existence and get them on board too.
I would be really pleased if a Seinior contributor could point out to me if I am way off the mark here and if the importance I give to an editor is over valued, and if in reality , no one is really bothered or if they read my posts and just think that I am an arse or something?
Here's waiting for the next batch of tumble weed! (lol)
