    Hi all,

I've been lurking on these forums for a few months now but haven't posted much (clicked on "like" for a lot of your posts though! :) )

I finally finished my Runewars terrain project so I thought I'd share :)  (they are all the exact dimensions and shapes as the official terrain):

  2. Hi there, I just bought Cave Troll and I was wondering if you guys would mind answering a few questions I have about the rules... some of them are unclear to me.

1- On all the Artifact cards, when they use the words "hero" or "heroes" in the description, do they mean heroes/monsters?? Like, can I use the Cloak of invisibility on a monster? or use the orc-killing sword in a room where I only have a monster and no "heroes"?  can I revive a monster with the chalice? How do you guys play?

2- Same thing goes for the Orc, it says "you can discard one hero in this room". Is that a hero/monster?? for example: can an orc kill another orc or a wraith? or can it just kill "heroes"?

At first, every time I saw the word "hero", I would ONLY apply the effect to heroes... but then, I saw an example in the instruction booklet where he uses a wraith to push an ORC out of a room... yet on the wraith's card, it says " you may push one hero out of the room" so that REALLY messed me up.... are monsters heroes or not?? sometimes they use the terms "hero or monster" and sometimes they just use "hero"... but as I mentioned, on the wraith card they only use the word "hero" but he can push an orc, that lead to the questioning of the term "hero" on EVERY card in the game... please help lol! Thanks!

  3. I always said that they should sell Battlelore miniatures in packs ( of 8 or 12 miniatures)  with all the wide selection of units available... so you could truly cuztomize and create your own adventures. You would simply buy the packs of the miniatures you desire and mix and match...  you could even trade miniatures with other BL players you know...

  4. I think that whatever happens, some things will be unfair for the veterans and some things will be unfair for the recent newcomers...it's finding a balance between offering the newcomers the WHOLE Battlelore experience, without making the loyal veterans feel like they've wasted their money...

This is starting to sound like there is something more to it than a simple reprint...

Maybe we´ll see Battlelore re-released as a big box game (Tide of Iron, Star craft et al), with CTA, Epic, and the promo creatures included. And at the same time a re-packing of the gobbo and dwarf expansions.

Don't even MENTION that please.... I just got into Battlelore, a little more than a month ago, and I spent a lot of time and effort hunting down some expansions, and I just bought CtA and Epic SEPERATLY.... If they released a big box like that, now,  then I just don't know  how I would react....

  6. Thanks a lot for your help... wow this changes a lot of things, in all the games I've played so far, we respected the terrain restrictions whatever card you used...

and the way it's written in the instruction manual, I thought a mounted unit HAD to PURSUE to get a bonus attack, not only gain ground....

and the reason for my last question about Creeping Doom is that on the card it's written " Target: 1 battlefield hex "  and not  " 1 ennemy unit " like on other cards, that's why I was confused... thanks again.

  7. Hi, I've been playing BL for a little over a month now and I would just like to confirm a few things... If someone could help me it would be nice, thank you! (if some of these questions have already been asked, I'm sorry)

    1)  Cards that add +1d (or any ammount of dice for that matter), do they have priority over terrain restricitions? (for example, using a "Leadership" card, can you now attack a unit on elevated terrain with 3d or 4d?)

    2) When using the Battlelore card, do you include both of the players' hands in the re-shuffle process?

    3) Can a ranged unit battle-back at point blank?

    4) When ranged units attack and roll retreat flags, does the target have to retreat?

    5) Is it legal to skip a turn or do nothing during your turn? in other words, I like the way my army is positionned, can I just throw away a command card and do nothing?

    6) Does a mounted unit ABSOLUTELY have to move one space BEYOND gaining ground in order to perform a bonus attack? or can it just gain ground and attack?

    7) When using the wizard card Creeping Doom, does the target of the spell have to be a VACANT hex, and if/when an ennemy unit walks on it, the effect is activated? or can you target an ennemy unit directly when casting it?

    Thank you!

  8. I started playing the game not long ago also and everywhere I checked, people were saying that Call to Arms and Epic were the expansions that added the most content to the game. I also heard, like everyone says, that the expansions are getting rare... So what I did is that I bought Call to Arms AND Epic, and stored them, didn't even open them yet. Once I get thru the whole core game and decide to go further, I will unwrap the expansions. In other words, since they are getting rare, I bought them both right away just to be safe.  I also bought the Dwarven Battalion expansion because I found it by luck and it's not even available anymore, but I doubt Dwarven Batallion is a necessary expansion.

    Greetings!

I am new here and I would need some info about couple of things.

First of all: How come when I put all of my figures together (basic Battlelore game without expansions) I have two goblin infantry figures that are extra - they don't belong into any of the units

Funny, I have exactly 2 extra goblin units as well, I guess it's normal...

  10. That's almost exactly what I had in mind also, seems pretty well balanced. How would it take hits though?  What I had in mind was that first of all, neither the catapult or ballista can be bold, and when it is attacked, only ONE SoS symbol is needed to kill it BUT it carries no banner and ignores ALL color helmets rolled against it.

  11. hmm... what you say is true but I still think that sieges units, properly balanced, could be well integrated into BL and would add realism to medieval battles. When I look at a BL setup, I just can't help myself but to imagine 3 or 4 catapults behind my lines, seems only natural...

and by the way, is this what you meant?? (copy and paste, don't know why but link adding wasn't working)
