I'm quite familiar with the Star Wars universe. I've been watching the movies since the first one came out while I was in college in 1977 Certainly the popular media (movies, TV, Books, etc.) are going to focus on the major, larger than life characters because that's where the story is. But Revenge of the Sith made it quite clear that the battles were taking place on dozens (hundreds? Thousands?) of worlds and those characters could not possibly be everywhere at once. When we get to the Rebellion, Rogue One and Solo show us that again, the battles are taking place over a huge area and the main characters could not be everywhere then, either. I have no objection to people wanting to play using the big, flashy characters, but that's just not my style. For every fight with Vader or Luke or Veers, there must be hundreds of others where the commanders are unnamed captains and lieutenants. That's where my interest lies.

They are great. The shine on the Imperial Guard helmets is perfect.

I just finished painting my first batch of Legion figures. Two squads of Stormtroopers and a pair of Speeder Bikes. The figures paint up nicely, although I found that the black paint wore away with even the lightest handling during painting. I had to retouch it several times before I was ready to spray on several layers of clear coat. Hopefully that will fix the paint in place.

I put small dots on the bases to distinguish the squads. Less tokens on the table!

    Now to do some Rebels!

Yeah, the challenge is generally that gloss varnish is thick and will often make it look like the armor has a clear varnish over top of it rather than that the armor itself is shiny.  I have found my best results are by brushing multiple layers of a very thinned gloss or satin where I want it.  This lets me control the thickness and placement rather than clear coating the whole thing with a gloss.

You can see this in my Imperial guard helmets and Much more subtly on some stormies

Had to use the awesome 4k camera at work, as my DSLR is getting repaired (as it died for no reason last week!)

Not the case of Para Bellum's Conquest, their first sprues are filled with extras and they got multipart high quality minis, and it is their first project ever. In my opinion it is a matter of wanting to give you more for your money.

So Legion was my first exposure to painting minis. My first rebels were terrible. Poor detail. I stripped the paint, reprimed, and took another stab at them. These are much better.

    Jedha Occupier Tank
I've added lot's of extra parts to hopefully make the tank look "lived in".
The crew have been stranded on Jedha since the Death Star firing test on the Holy City. A group of loyal soldiers abandoned on a dying world with no chance of evacuation, left to fight pockets of resistance.

There actually aren't that many imperial troops in that battle in RoTJ. If you look at the wide shots of them holding the rebels prisoner before the ewoks attack, there looks to be about a platoon's worth, maybe fifty or so. They stupidly run off into dense terrain that favours their opponents. Their defeat is plausible in the film. I've never liked the ewoks, but they're the least of that film's problems.
