  1. Don't you guys find that they are cumbersome to use because they are Large, and cannot movie diagonally?
  2. As the Overlord (and owner of my group's game) I try to maximise my competetive edge by carefully reading through scenarios ahead of time with the intent to cherrypick the quest most advantageous for me. I find the planning (combing through internet for advice on quests and tactics against certain strong hero combos) fun and part of the game. That said I do not try to hide important info from the heroes even though it is generally I who present the quest and winning conditions. I make sure that every one knows what is at stake in both encounters. Although if I would know about a certain winning strategy beforehand I would not share it with the group unless the consensus on the net is that it is more or less broken.

  4. I tried to build a runner deck and quickly realised I have no idea what I'm doing. I found a Shaper deck online and modified it some. I know it isn't competetive but is it at least passable (not broken)? 7. This is my very first corp deck. I tried to put together a simple and robust deck with the cards I have available (I haven't bought anything from the Spin cycle yet). Comments appreciated. I need to put together a simple Shaper deck and any suggestions for that are also very welcome. I've got everything up to and including Creation & Control (including two cores) except for Trace Amount and A Study in Static Data. 8. I was surprised at the great experience that OCTGN provided when I tried it out. You should really check it out.

  10. Check out this Reddit thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/Netrunner/comments/1nnuui/new_player_here_whens_a_good_time_to_pick_up_data/ It is a bit dated but has good advice. Also these boards are pretty much dead. Check out Board Games Geek and their Netrunner page instead.
  11. People have already made a lot of good suggestions and offered different perspectives. I just want to reiterate that GMing becomes easier (at least it did for me, to a point) if you look for "flags" that your players are waving. If they are waving a flag that means they want the story to be about that flag, or at least get the flag in play from time to time. Flags stand out but do not have to be Big Things. A player that picks Politico and increases his Charm is waving a flag that means "I want to shine in nice social encounters!". A player that have his character constantly lugg around a heavy Toolkit is waving a flag that means "I want to build and repair stuff that helps us out!". A player that picks out the heaviest blaster weapon is waving a flag that means "I want to shoot things dead!". Naturally it is not quite this easy but I found that thinking like this helped me move away from trying to play "against" the players, as a GM. Players are in general easy to entertain, if you throw them "a bone" so to speak. It is not hard to let the fighter have his fight. The talker have his talk. The X have his X and so on. The goal is to create a cool story. Not a realistic story, or a well balanced story or a tricky puzzle or bad setback. Sure, they are ingredients that can help make the story cool - but focus on the cool first. Looking at the flags that the other players are waving around the table is an easy way to find out what they think is cool.
  12. It's been one of Lucasfilm's most notorious tasks for the past decade! So this is just business as usual and nothing new at all! Lol! Reading through the thread and the linked article it seemed like a lot more was happening. Serves right me for reading the internet. Thanks for the clarification guys. Especially Spjork!
  13. Right, but Disney isn't people. They're a company. For a company the bottom line is all important. I was just perplexed why they think their bottom line would be helped by establishing canon. Having a "lore bible" as Spjork calls it to guide their artistic vision makes sense I guess. Though I am still surprised the'll go ahead with it. I'd assume they would think a strong lead producer or the like would suffice.
  14. None of you answered my question, or if you did I didn't understand the answer. Perhaps my question wasn't well put. Why is Disney putting together a group of people - devoting time and money - to decide what is canon and what isn't? It is perfectly fine to defend an IP without any canon at all. GW does it all the time.
