News about WFRP at Gen Con..?

Herr Arnulfe said: IanBear said: I'm not saying that anyone should look at these games as loss leaders or loss makers, but as most of the work is done by freelancers anyway, all it really does need is a line manger who is willing to get new supplements up and running and then edit them. Unless sales have collapsed, this shouldn't be an overly massive expense! I'm sure there's someone out there for whom moving to Minnesota to line-manage WFRP for $27K/year would be a dream job, but remember, the last line manager suffered a heart attack at 38, the guy before him swore off WFRP afterwards, and the guy before him burnt out within 2 years…just saying. Oh, I totally agree! But some people have done this. I think the guy that took over Dark Heresy was essentially a long time fan writer and playtester? Despite the fact I'd love to write for the line more, I'd never want the boss' job! Endless abuse from fans, regardless of quality, managing the demands of said fans, GW and FFG and a miriad of freelance writers all together. No thanks. But still, it needs to be done by someone for a line to survive!

News about WFRP at Gen Con..?

What most surprises me here is that people find it perfectly acceptable that they think the company's spread too thin! I don't know if that is the case, but if it is, it's not a great idea really. Product quality will be down, and so will the number of releases. I'm not saying that anyone should look at these games as loss leaders or loss makers, but as most of the work is done by freelancers anyway, all it really does need is a line manger who is willing to get new supplements up and running and then edit them. Unless sales have collapsed, this shouldn't be an overly massive expense! As far as I know, many of the freelancers are looking for more work, but haven't been contacted for some time, same goes for some groups of the playtesters.

    A Guide to Grunburg

  5. New Zombie said: so are the player characters represented as heroes in a single warband? or are they hired swords? or do the warbands not include the player characters at all and the mordheim scenarios simply change the landscape of the roleplaying campaign? We're still at the start of incorporating Mordheim into our games, so have 500gc warbands- and as we also have bad guys involved (beastmen and warriors) only the empire has any of our characters in it. Their warband is led by one of the PCs, but the rest of the group are hired swords. Generally we use the PCs fairly sparingly- whilst they are pretty powerful now by WFRP standards, they are still pretty small fry compared to the stats of a hero/lord in WFB. We use the characters on occasion, but as you say, we look to change the landscape of the RP world, and to tell the tales of larger battles that are more difficult to RP.
  6. New Zombie said: ian, any chance you can elaborate on how you incorporate the mordheim rules set into your campaigns? my introduction to the warhammer world was through mordheim - fantastic game. (great podcast reckless lads) We play Mordheim scenarios as seperate battles for the campaign- we fight over a map, capture territories, and use Mordheim for special scenarios- to try and disrupt an enemy before a pitched battle, or to steal supplies and gold which are used to fund new armies. it's great to bring all the aspects together when we can, although we do focus on WFRP.
  7. thanks again for having me on the show guys!

    Why the silence with Warhammer?

Hi chaps, I'm also a playtester, and can also confirm that there's nothing to worry about, and can also confirm that there was a good reason for the silence. As has already been said, FFG have decided not to mention why/ just haven't done so yet, so it's not my place to discuss that here, but there's really nothing to be worried about when it comes to upcoming products- more to be excited about really!
  12. religion is deeply entrenched in society. Priests in services are all burning brimstone and warnings about turning to sigmar. mutants will be burned by the witch hunters, the local citizenry would be forced to watch such a public execution. The average man or woman may not be a great source of accurate information. however they have been fed tales for years that make them *fear* chaos and anything that could possibly lead them into it. Some will naturally rebel against the teaching, but whilst there is no formal education, the average citizen 'knows' of chaos, but probably more from the temple of sigmar/ ulric than any formal schooling.

    Best advaneture for Orks

Hi guys, I'm trying to do a one/two shot for my group to get them into Rogue Trader. They want to play as a group of Orks, which I think will be pretty fun, but I'm wondering which of the published adventures will fit best? Any suggestions welcome...
