Just now, Sonikgav said:Its the fact that it hits everything at Range 0-2 that sells it for me. Thats a huge splash.
Oh I won't disagree on the potential output, and in Epic games (which our group did regularly before the world went mad) I would be 100% behind them. But in a standard 200/6 I struggle to convince myself that they are worth it, even for the board control

Edon Kappehl (58)
Trajectory Simulator (6)
Skilled Bombardier (2)
Electro-Proton Bomb (11)
Seismic Charges (3)
Total: 80Being able to lob that bomb up into the enemy lines on Turn 1 is a threat they can't ignore. Even just from a Psychological stand point it effects their game plan.
That's an interesting build, but I've still not been able to convince myself that the 1 shot EPB is worth 11 points, even trajectory'ed up the table - though I do wish I could use my attack wing templates with Trajectory+Skilled Bombardier to launch them 6-straight up the table
-
I've got 2x HMP and 1 each of LAATi and Xi in the post.
I also got my pre-order in for the next two "waves" at my FLGS
1 resistance box, and one each of the ETA/Nimbus/Tri-Fighter/Jango wave (that will probably end up with more Nimbus and Tri-Fighters)

So the new bomb and the recent point reduction got me thinking about an old list I tried previously that just didn't have enough tools in its box - well as the chassis got cheaper, I thought I'd see what I could get out of it.

Now I am in no way expecting this to be the new meta-monster, but I was surprised at how much artillery you could get on the table with these things.
Thoughts?

Hey @wurms completely understand how the whole world going mad can mess with your plans, my concern was more on the "**** I hope the guys behind this are ok" lines than the "WhErEs MeH sTuFfS!" lines.
keep safe everyone!

Generic greetings!
Has anyone had any contact with Hanson Bro's gaming recently, I've tried to contact them about their token holder through other channels to no success, so now I'm trying here!

You snooze, you lose, I guess.
Yeh, it's called Star Trek Alliance and they got Josh (the guy who created HotAC) to design it. Unfortunately, as with most things Attack Wing, it seems to be in a cycle of delay after delay.
-
To those talking about FFG buying/licencing/copying HotAC, they probably can't as WizKids already bought HotAC for Star Trek Attack Wings co-op campaign system

Hey guys,
Firestorm Squadron are streaming Aaron F Vs Chris B in the Jank Tank Open

Hey all,
Firestorm Squadron Firecast is doing a 24-hour charity stream to support UK health workers, details below

So I've basically been flying Republic Beef since the points change (I prefer larger-base ships normally, so 3x mediums + a Y-wing was about as close as I could get with what is allowed) but I've recently been feeling the need to go back to something a little more mobile. With this in mind I decided to also dust off one of my least used factions, Resistance. Now I only have access to 3 RZ-2's, but I do have 2 Fireballs (and a whole mess of X-wings, and 2 Transports/pods) so I put this together;
Fireballs and friends
(33) Jarek Yeager [Fireball]
(2) R4 Astromech
(2) Coaxium Hyperfuel
(3) Advanced SLAM
(1) Heroic
(2) Kaz's Fireball
Points: 43(40) Zizi Tlo [RZ-2 A-wing]
(1) Heroic
Points: 41(36) Greer Sonnel [RZ-2 A-wing]
(1) Heroic
Points: 37(40) Kazuda Xiono [Fireball]
(2) R4 Astromech
Points: 42(36) Tallissan Lintra [RZ-2 A-wing]
(1) Heroic
Points: 37Total points: 200
I've had a look on Metawing and couldn't seem to find anyone else that had admitted to trying this, so anyone got any thoughts?
I've played the list once so far and I'm not entirely happy with Kaz or Talli, the other three seem to work reasonably well.

Had great fun with Mag-Pulse the other weekend hunting a raider (epic obv) - 2x Separatist Bomber Hyena Bombers with just Mag-Pulse, now obviously hunting and Epic is a bit of a special case, but saving the Mag's for after the shields were down (12 skill 3 vultures will do that) and the crits were devastating

And the final update from this year's event (we have a follow up planned),
Firestorm Firecast have now uploaded the 5 stream games to YouTube

So I'll do a proper post here later, sleep needs to happen soon, but the event is finished and the venue is cleared - and just...wow.
£1,416.04 raised for The Brain Tumor Charity.
Players - you made my first large event as a co-organiser really good (thanks Harry and Martin for helping keep things running)
Firestorm Firecast - Nic you are a legend as were the generous people in your stream.
22nd Gillingham Scout Group - thank you for the venue and food+drink
I'll do proper thank yous when I'm more awake and won't forget the people I clearly am...
-
So with less than a week to go we have about 20 tickets left for the event.
We can now also confirm the Firestorm Squadron are going to be streaming the event for us! Thanks guys!
We have also posted a picture of some of the swag for the event on the Facebook page, head over here to see what we've had donated (it's pretty impressive) https://facebook.com/events/s/the-kamino-open-a-charity-x-wi/2451914275081764/?ti=cl
Look forward to seeing some of you there!

12 hours ago, Blail Blerg said:Dunno. No table time with a fringer. Lend us your expertise.
Well from my limited use of it (5 round at Milton Keynes) I'd say that as long as you can manage the range effectively the finger is a good distraction ship - it's 4 dice gun means that people don't want to ignore it, but they also feel like it's a bad call to use as much fire power as it takes to get through 10 health behind 2 (normally focused) green dice instead of shooting the rest of your list.
It's still over-costed, but we are getting closer
-
1 hour ago, Blail Blerg said:Yeah, the Fringer doesn't seem worth it. a meme squad tho. And perfectly good if the Fringer goes down a bit.
Oh I'm well aware of the meme status of the squad, I did call the list "Remember The Good Times" after all
I deliberately went into Sunday with a fun list rather than a competitive in mind, as the current hyperspace list doesn't really suit my normal style of play (my ships of choice are the VCX100 and YV666).
Anyway, 5pt reduction on the YT2400 chassis?
-
2 hours ago, Blail Blerg said:Now THIS is hilarious. I suspect Miranda hits a lot weaker though nowadays. Wait, she's 42 points base? hmm. About a Bwing...
I mean, she's a 4 dice gun at range 1 if you are willing to risk the shield, and she can run if she needs to. And yeh the points cost is quite nice
kallus' ability triggered surprisingly often, and the Fringer is so rare that the whole "it's less dangerous at range 1" thing caught people out - I will say though, whilst it's fun, the Fringer is still too expensive for what it brings to the table.
-
So here's one that I had fun flying at the UK System Open this weekend, though it would have done a bit better if I hadn't been flying it like a potato for most of the games....
Remember the good times
(69) Alexsandr Kallus [VCX-100 Light Freighter]
(3) Dorsal Turret
Points: 72(42) Miranda Doni [BTL-S8 K-wing]
(2) Jyn Erso
(7) Hotshot Gunner
Points: 51(77) Wild Space Fringer [YT-2400 Light Freighter]
Points: 77Total points: 200
Best reaction from an opponent was "that fits in 200pts? Why does that fit in 200pts!?"
-
Forgot to say in the previous post, I finished 338 out of 486 in the main event.
Ok time for day two..
First my list
Remember the good times
(69) Alexsandr Kallus [VCX-100 Light Freighter]
(3) Dorsal Turret
Points: 72(42) Miranda Doni [BTL-S8 K-wing]
(2) Jyn Erso
(7) Hotshot Gunner
Points: 51(77) Wild Space Fringer [YT-2400 Light Freighter]
Points: 77Total points: 200
This is based on my previous double Lothal + Miranda list, but I really should have flown this version before the event...
Round 1 Vs Nathan flying Quad Fearless Fangs. I managed to destroy one Fang in the first engagement, unfortunately after that Nathan sensibly avoided a similar kill box on subsequent turns. The game finished 50-175.
Round 2 Vs Mark flying Bobba and Emon. Nightmare matchup number one. Mark flew his list expertly. After Miranda took two prox mines in one round I went full defensive, and I really shouldn't have. Late in the game I made a desperate move to try and score some points and went on the aggressive with the Fringer. Surprisingly, this allowed me to kill Bobba and finish the game 103-200.
Round 3 Vs Adam flying Rey and Poe. Adam, you were an absolute gentleman during the game, thank you. In hindsight, the fatigue had set in by this point and I started making some silly mistakes - starting with forgetting to favour offence over defensive modifications. I did manage to get half points on Rey and Poe finishing the game 96-200.
Round 4 Vs Dave flying Triple silencers. This was an incredibly close game, with the final rounds seeing 2 silencers both on 1hp chasing Miranda on 1 shield and 3hp. Again, I went back to old habits and went too defensive again, repeatedly using Jyn to evade instead of focusing or locking to maximise offence. The game finished 175-200.
Round 5 Vs David flying Blackout, Midnight, and Holo. This was my first match against the TIE Baron, and whilst it was a fun game I was definitely not firing on all cylinders for this one. Managed to get Blackout and half of Midnight before the game ended 102-200.
All in all it was a great weekend, and the final was interesting to watch as well. I really underestimated how much of a mental drain 11 games in two days would be, and by the end I was really glad that I'd decided to have an extra night in the hotel rather than having to drive home afterwards.
-
Ok so here we go (these will not be full bat-reps) - this post will cover the 6 rounds of hyperspace from the main event, I'll do another one on extended event from day 2 later.
The most important thing I'd like to start with is saying thankyou to all of my opponents; Spike, Alessandro, Craig, Sean, Dan, and Pete from day one, and Nathan, Mark, Adam, David, and David from day two. All of you were great opponents, with everyone keep things relaxed even in the closest of matches.
So my list;
Wolffe and friends
(50) "Wolffe" [ARC-170 Starfighter]
(3) R3 Astromech
Points: 53(44) Squad Seven Veteran [ARC-170 Starfighter]
(3) R3 Astromech
Points: 47(43) "Matchstick" [BTL-B Y-wing]
(2) R4 Astromech
(3) Seismic Charges
(5) Ion Cannon Turret
Points: 53(44) Squad Seven Veteran [ARC-170 Starfighter]
(3) R3 Astromech
Points: 47Total points: 200
I'm really glad that I switched from my original swarm and had practice with the Republic before the event as by the end of the day I was pretty tired.
So on to the event...
Round 1 Vs "Spike" flying Han/Luke, 200-153 win. First round and straight into a win, wasn't expecting that! Very close match with just a Squad Seven Vet left on the table at the end.
Round 2 Vs Alessandro from Italy flying Luke, Braylan, and 2 blade squadron B-wings. My first international opponent ever, unfortunately I couldn't keep the momentum of the first game going and I crashed out of this game 49-200.
Round 3 Vs Craig flying a scum salad of Fenn, Sunny, Manaroo, and Genesis Red. This was shaping up to be a really close game after first engagement, and then Sunny struck. The much sought-after 5 hit autoblaster shot wiped one of my Vets of the table and the game got away from me from there. 94-200 loss.
Round 4 Vs Sean flying Quad TIE FO and Kylo. This went pretty bad as well, losing 60-200. Swarm was about the only archetype I hadn't managed to get any practice against, and it really showed.
Round 5 Vs Dan flying Ric, Luminara, Wolffe, and Broadside. This was a fun game, we both set-up to joust, and a joust it was. Won 177-121 at time after we had both a Wolffe-off and a Y-wing off.
Round 6 Vs Pete flying Ahsoka, Ric, Wolffe, and Broadside. Another Republic training mission, unfortunately this one didn't go my way and I lost 80-200.
Ended the day 2-4, which was 1 win better than I was aiming for coming into the event. My main take aways from the event were;
variance can really suck, and when your opponent is apologising for not only their red dice being good but also how bad your red and green dice are you know you've hit a run of variance;
the list has got a good hit-point pool, but it really struggles Vs swarms and beefier lists. As much as I will hate myself for it, I might actually need to think about adding a Jedi or Ric to the list to give it more options.

So bit of an odd one from the weekend, I managed to get a LAATi on the table Vs a Double HMP, DBS404, 3x precise hunter droid list. I was originally going to fly LAAT+3x Arc's, but I managed to forget my Arc bases and dials, so I switched to triple generic CLT Jedi + LAAT (list in a sec). Now we were in a rush, so I went from memory on the backup list and didn't check LBN until this morning, here is how my woops broke down;
here is what the list should have been
Jedi with LAATi support
(37) Jedi Knight [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(2) Calibrated Laser Targeting
Points: 39

(54) "Warthog" [Laat/i Gunship]
(5) Ghost Company
(8) Perceptive Copilot
(4) Clone Commander Cody
(8) Barrage Rockets
(4) Shield Upgrade
Points: 83
Total points: 200
And here is what I actually flew
Jedi with LAATi support

The result was a solid win to the Republic, I lost the LAATi and one Jedi was down to 1 hull for a board-wipe on the other side!
