Have a look at this guy's site - he's used some figures from a company called Splinter Light minis that look pretty interesting. boromirandkermit.wordpress.com/category/battlelore/ SL also has some great looking Brit/Roman and Saxon figures in 15mm which might work for men. Cheers Craig
