    FFG will obviously focus on adding app content that help sell the physical expansions already released. The app is free and their main motivation for putting work into this is to have the app help sell physical stuff. I don't expect there to ever be multiple- or non-expansion box app releases until they've done at least one app version of each physical box.

    I would hope its more about avoiding stealing thunder from the new Lord Of The Rings minis game rather than anything negative to IA

    I tend to be rather optimistic and non-judging about these things (having worked on geek franchises myself), but the FFG silence about their own releases does feel pretty weird. I wonder what's going on? I bet there is a reason behinde these things, a decision, but I can't for the life of me understand what it could be...

    I don't get it.  How hard would it have been to just say "Coming soon, a new Hoth campaign for the app" like a month ago.  That would have saved a lot of hand wringing and debate about is the game dead.  And even now, they don't have anything up on the news page about it?  Weird.  I don't follow their facebook or twitter page.  I totally agree with those who said that FFG's marketing people are doing a pretty sub standard job.

    I think that there is the key.  The app already uses units from every box you own, so really a campaign that spans two expansions would really just be the tiles and maybe a couple of scripted unit/villain appearances.  Probably not worth alienating the section of their fanbase that would (somewhat reasonably) ask why FFG was making them buy two expansions at a time just to play the new app campaign.

    The barrier to entry for any multi-expansion campaign may be too high for their liking,
    it doesn’t affect  those of us who already have everything, but many people have been saying how they didn’t plan on getting Jabbas realm until the app announcement.
    if they combined say... twin shadow and Bespin into a new campaign it might be viable...
    that said, all that really does is combine tiles that have never hit the table together before. Hardly a big deal when everything else I the boxes is already usable all the time...

    I don't think FFG wants to go back to tinker with the existing campaigns if not absolutely necessary. That is not to say new campaigns could not have slightly better exclusion rules.
    (Edit: In both meanings of "could" - they might already have, and there should be continual improvement.)

    Yup, would be great to see that CHANGE  implemented. Nothing wrong with that, I can't imagine it's that hard to code in. 
    I did not realize you could even pick multiple xp skills from each tier lol, I always just thought it was 1 of 2 for each tier. That could be a game change for builds.
    my group is going to crack it open this weekend, trying to figure out which party to use. I want to use my freshly painted heroes, I've only done the core for heroes and that team would be easy mode.

    Legion had an initial surge in my area based on the IP, but what is referred to as "weak, imitation" wargaming was not able to hold the interest of my cities faithful Warhammer crew.
    Now this combined with FFGs recent abandonment of Rune Wars definitely has New and existing players weary. 
    IA has had 4 great years of play under its belt, pretty hard to argue with that. The app is a great way to extend the life of the existing game. I'm ok with them just recreating the old campaign stories in app form because i would want to play each campaign multiple times anyway but this way I get to play with my friends, and with different missions.
    Its really the best of both worlds.

    In the Return to Hoth campaign on the first mission I encountered a glitch with an Imperial Officer.  I believe it was one of the initial deployments.  When it activated the Bonus was Squad Training (for each other figure in this group gain Pierce 1 - or something to that effect).

    The Jabba campaign (can't speak to Hoth) is kind of a mix of both, in a good way.  The overarching story was essentially the same as the proper campaign, but they expanded it out with a lot more interactive pieces and "choose your own adventure" moments.  It also fleshed out some of the characters a bit more; Terro in the regular campaign was basically just a generic imperial leader, while Terro in the app got a bit of a backstory and some cool moments.  They did a good job with it IMO, and it's a lot more fun than the first app campaign.  It might still be worth it to you to try it out if you're feeling bored some day (although I agree with you that a standard campaign with evenly matched opponents is more fun)

    Room for improvement then... Losing missions early does have a big impact on fame. (In Jabba's Realm some of the missions have less fighting, so produce less fame as a result.)
    My most recent RtH play (Hard) with Biv, Davith, Diala, Drokkatta (semi-randomly selected) - Won: 4, Lost: 1 (lost the intro), Fame: 474.
    I think Davith did as expected - he's fragile, but could pull good combos in the finale with Cleave 2 from Electrostaff, combined with Falling Leaf and Fell Swoop, and have Blindside as backup. He needed to start with hidden though to be most effective.
    I skipped some of the 4XP skills and got a second 3XP instead. Had a bit of cash left over.
    Biv: Health 17, Repeating Blaster + Vibrobayonet (3XP), Survival Gear, Shake It Off (1XP), Disruptor Pistol + Plasma Cell, Supply Pack, Crushing Blow (2XP), Trophy Armor (3XP)
    Davith: Health 14, Heirloom Dagger, Covert Operative (1XP), Electrostaff + High-Impact Guard, Falling Leaf (2XP), Combat Coat, Blindside (2XP), Fell Swoop (4XP), Combat Vambrace
    Diala: Health 12, Plasteel Staff, Force Adept (1XP), Battle Meditation (2XP), Environment Hazard Suit, Bo-rifle + Focusing Beam, Snap Kick (3XP), Bacta Pump, Dancing Weapon (4XP)
    Drokkatta: Health 15, MGL-9 "Boomer", Charging Up (1XP), Repeater Cannon (3XP) + Shrapnel Rounds (2XP), Structural Exploitation (3XP)

    I agree with this. It would be cool if there was a 5 Mission or 8 mission option for the app. I am not too sure how they would handle the XP cards in an 8 mission situation, though.

    I just finished it. It was 5 missions long, as previously mentioned. 
    I enjoyed it, but I only won a single mission. I ran Shyla, Loku, Saska, and Davith. I had a feeling I would have a difficult time as I had 3 characters who were rolling a white die, but I didn’t expect it to be a landslide loss for me lol. 
    I want to paint up some more of my Hoth figures and try it again in a few weeks. I honestly might try it on regular mode rather than hard the next go around.

    The class card system should tell you app campaigns are 5 missions. (In the RtH app campaign you play 5 of the available 6 missions.)

    Absolutely agreed! There is so much content that I have not been able to touch with the material that I already have, just due to the arc of different choices and outcomes that occur throughout each individual campaign. I also have a ton of Skirmish missions that I have never played, but we're mostly a campaign focused group. There's a ton of stuff that has already been released which adds a tons of different variables to allow for unique campaign run-throughs. Just my two cents!
     
    New content is certainly welcomed, but I would much rather them take their time and be surprised and delighted by new content rather then be on a content treadmill.

    While I agree that we are due for something physical, I have to say the aggressive content release for IA over the years has created a huge library of existing content. Have you guys played through every mission, including Ally and Villain packs?
    My group has played A LOT of campaign, but probably only touched about half.. maybe 60-65% of the total content I bet.

    It is awfully similar to the original Hoth campaign, but there are some differences. The app campaign is very, very objective heavy. More than usual, I mean. There are some changes to the story, which I like. It keeps things interesting. 
    It seems like there should be a decent amount of replayability because there are some decisions that you have to make in the missions and when choosing missions. I liked that a lot about the Jabba’s Realm app campaign.

    I binge played three missions yesterday on Hard mode. The Hard difficulty did not seem THAT much harder than the regular mode in past App campaigns, but the Hard mode in Hoth has been REALLY tough so far.
    Given this, I haven’t won all of my missions so far. It could be because out of my 4 heroes, 3 are rolling white dies for defense, but I think they increased the difficulty a bit. I am happy to have a challenge and I like the campaign so far!

    It would be very easy to turn down the sound and be the only one to see the app, then just use the maps and objectives and substitutes your Empire group activation/actions to what the app suggest and deploy your Open group choices instead of what the app  says (+forget about the added bonus each group gets each round and use your usual Empire-class cards). It would require minimum book-keeping and a bit of tapping around on your tablet, but you would get brand new missions to play! You could also play the whole thing in "fast-forward" before the game to know roughly what's coming up.
    Just saying.. Thinking about it, I guess it would be a bit cumbersome, but doable.
