Tempest would be amazing.  It would be an X-wing that trades 1 blue to hit like a Y-wing and go faster.

I didn't see any reasons why you can't write down the points values at home (or wherever else you have internet access) to look at them later.
Do you not own a pencil and paper?
But you have the spare time to argue that you don't have the spare time, I see.
Again, you CLEARLY have spare time when you have internet access, or you wouldn't be here on this forum right now.
Then you can write out the points ahead of time, assume you lack access to a printer.
Then why are you even here?
No, the reason online communities of games are smaller than their totality of players is because only a fraction of players are invested enough to post on forums.  This includes games like MMOs, which are played entirely online.

Armada isn't perfectly balanced. Some ships are way better then others. The overal balance is decent and a wide meta is possible, but it's not so well balanced that it couldn't use some fixes. And X-wing's path was more 1.0's issue. 1.0 was heavily inbalanced. 2.0 has a lot more options to it .
And you don't have to google on your phone the entire time during play. All cards are still there and present during battles showing you exactly what everything does. Only the points costs you need to look up on your phone, but those are not important during the match.

For more flakka dakka: Take one Excecutor 2 with Annihilator. Add GT, LS, QLT and Kallus to taste. PD Reroute on top if crazy. DTT and H9 if max silly.

I thought about this and it'll tilt the game too much towards flak (currently black dice reliability is balanced by shorter range - so it usually can't be used  to flak squadrons attacking someone else) and not every ship would be able to field it (Liberty with it's double black is a prime example).

Rhymer was lame even before Sloane.
Sloane just took him to the Next Level.
He should have been axed long ago.
What IS sad is that many Imp squads, esp the Rogues, are costed/stated to accommodate the existence of Rhymer.

List Fortress. An online repository of Second Edition tournament results. Everything from eight person kit tournaments to System Opens with hundreds of participants. It shows the format, the number of people, what lists they were flying, and the number of wins and MOV (Margin of Victory). All data is voluntarily submitted, so there may be some holes in the information depending on how in depth the submission was.
Pink Brain Matter. This is a recently released site that analyzes data from List Fortress. It can tell you the percentage of Rebel lists in major tournaments since the recent points change, and the percentage of those lists that took certain pilots, etc.
Probability Calculator. This will allow you to enter in a ton of variables for numerous different attacks to see expected damage under various circumstances. For those of us who are math impaired, it’s a vital tool.
Infinite Arenas. This awesome site has a number of tools available, including an unofficial rules reference, a card browser, and printable maneuver reference cards for most Second Edition ships, among other things.
X-Wing Mapper. This fantastic tool will show you all the available final positions of any ship in any faction. Toggle variations for Afterburners, Advanced Sensors, Supernatural Reflexes, or any other possibilities, choose your maneuver and see all the different places your ship could end up.

So every ship in the game is perfectly balanced right now? The Victory and the Pelta are perfectly balanced against say the ISD and the CR90? People make mistakes, they release unbalanced ships. The assumption that they are producing perfect balance now, and will continue to (assuming they keep giving us more product...), is silly. Why would we not want the ability to adjust things?
Regardless, this conversation isn't getting us anywhere. One side wants an app, one side doesn't. Agree to disagree? Just like we've learned to do on many other divisive Armada topics?

I mean, that's why they went with the app to begin with, along with the pregen squads. I was just spitballing a way to answer the objection that you can't play everything right out of the box.  If you're doing the pdf online anyways, it doesn't hurt to print off a current-as-of-printing copy and put it in the box.
I'm a fan of the mixed media idea, personally, and wish armada had an app that could be updated on the fly. I just think that there a valid point in the midst of all the complaints about wanting to be able to play straight out of the box which could have been answered easily.
Sure it would be ridiculously complicated, and people who tried it would see exactly why the move to the app happened.
Perhaps another move could have been to make the app available offline.

How often will it happen that you are list building without internet connection? Maybe lucky living in the Netherlands as the only time without internet is when the provider has a technical failure and those are rare.
But besides that, how often do you need to build a list on the spot? I will never build my list at an LGS as I wouldn't have my entire collection with me anyway. And if you do expect to do that every now and then. Just print out the points list and ok you will have to write stuff down the old way while doing it, but doing it old fashioned offline was already the idea

That's what 3rd party army builders are for. For Armada I also build most of my lists on Armada Warlords and not with the cards themselves. A lot easier then a pdf file and will be supported way after FFG stops supporting the game.
I really don't understand the fuz people are making about it. You can play the game right out of the box, although not with full customization by using the pre-build threat cards and If you want to fully customize go to the app, pdf or 3rd party army builder. That's not a lot of work to do and gives the upside that they can fix mistakes with the plus side of having the meta-game change once in a while without them having to release the next OP ship.

I mean, you’re not required to do anything really. If you want to play the game with Monopoly models and cards against humanity cards as upgrades you are free to do so.
I on the other hand think that being able to points/slot adjust cards in the future as metas shift/content gets out into players hands is a pretty cool thing. Being able to handwave Tarkin down to 30 points, add a dretro to the vic, get errata out into the Wild quickly all sound pretty nifty to me.
Also- do you guys just not play with any of the FAQ or updated rules? Cause, ya know, the only place to find those are shudder...
