  1. Hey folks,

I was looking for some advice from those of you have more experience as a WFRP GM in thinking about TEW. I'm running An Eye for an Eye before my group starts TEW, and I was curious about the overall pacing of Advances in TEW.

Has anyone got a good sense of how quickly (and when) the PCs should advance in Rank during TEW? The game, in theory, takes PCs to Epic levels, but is it a linear progression where chapter 1 gets them to rank 2, and chapter 2 gets them to rank 3?

Will my PCs gaining 3-4 advances in "Eye" mess up the progression/difficulty in TEW?

    Thanks for any thoughts.

  2.  I heartily agree with the card/token keeper. Right now I'm using sandwich bags for the different decks and a bead/craft box for the counters. I really wish the cards had a better home.

And it seems to be that the consensus is that I should the boxes and use envelopes or bags for the player's characters, too. I guess that is symmetrical...

  3.  Just wondering if anyone knew of a good template for making the little cardstock boxes that came in the core set. I was hoping that the Toolkit would include another one, but it didn't, and I have this near-obsession with symmetry, so having three characters in boxes and 1 in a ziplock baggy is killing my sense of order. ;) (Although the toolkit did help me and my 4 players with the lack of "center" pieces for progress trackers/stance meters.)

  4.  Hey y'all,

I'm going to start GMing WFRP3 tomorrow night. I was wondering, for those of you who are already playing, what's the one thing I need to know? (I'm just running the demo adventure to get everyone acquainted with the rules; the real campaign will start after Christmas.) So, if you had to give one piece of advice about GMing with this rules set, what would it be? (I've been GMing various games since the mid-1980s, so I'm not really looking for "how to GM" advice, just advice on how to GM this game.) Please feel free to share a mistake I could avoid, a rule that's often overlooked, or a trick that makes everything go smoothly. Thanks,

  5.  Amazon now shows WFRP3's availability as "2-4 weeks" and that ordering it now will not get it to you before Christmas. No idea how that impacts pre-orders, but considering that my pre-order said it would release on 11/30, and I didn't get any optimistic emails like Winter did, and with the new changes to the availability page, I dropped that order and went with the war store. About $10 more with shipping, but at least they are reliable. This was my first negative encounter with Amazon, though.

Now if the Adventurer's Toolkit and extra dice would just start showing up...

  6.  Largely irrelevant to this otherwise fascinating discussion of MP rules, but just had to point out that Jyhad (the original version of V:TES) launched in 1994. (And Inquest Gamer called it the best all-time multi-player ccg in 2004, so some people dig it for multi-player.)

Just to make my post relevant, I'd like to say that I'd like MP rules that, to the best of their ability, avoided kingmaker situations where one player can't win, but can decide who else could win.

How am I supposed to interpret his text?  For quick reference it says: "During your capital phase, you may spend damage on this unit as though it were resources."  Does this mean that he can essentially heal himself by turning his damage into resources?  Or does it mean that he can take a damage to create a resource?

My understanding is that you read it the first way. Any damage that is on him can be removed from him and spent as a resource. He can't create damage on himself.

  8. The Bloodthirster seems like a potentially significant part of the Chaos offensive game. However, we had some questions about his wording.

    1) The first text on its card says that "Damage is cancelled." Unlike every other card I can remember, this card doesn't specify "this unit." Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but does the Bloodthirster make all damage uncancellable? (Whether it comes from the BT or not?)

    2) The more sane question (I hope): "After your turn begins, each player must sacrifice a unit in this corresponding zone." Does this include the BT? In other words, if it's alone in a zone at the start of the turn, does it sacrifice itself?

Thanks for anyone's input. My group played a number of games tonight and had a blast, although we did have a number of rules questions that I'll be parcelling out over the next few days.
