I'm in Mercer county. Which one are you in?

When I got my copy I coated each face of the dice with clear urethane. I've not had any issues with the paint chipping off since!

Thanks for the info Toddrew! If anyone was going to reply to my topic, I knew it'd be you lol!

As I am sure most of us are aware, there is a division in the ranks as to whether or not Battle Savvy rules are a good addition or not to the system. I find myself inclined to not play with them, but that is not the point of this thread. I'd like to discuss the affect of Battle Savvy on ranged units. I happen to like that ranged units were all streamlined by making none of them collect lore at range. No longer would one have to consult references for the 3 or 4 types of ranged units on the board during a game!
How do those of you who choose not to play with Battle Savvy treat Human & Dwarf Arbalestiers and Dwarven Bolt Throwers? Do they collect lore in your games? Should I just let the common bow and sling collect lore?

A question about the Heroes Expansion
The Cleric's Chant Skill reads, "Enemy units attacking your Cleric Hero roll 1 less battle dice in melee. This skill may not be used when an enemy is battling back. Use before battle dice are rolled."
The Cleric's Herbal Remedy Skill reads. "Your Cleric Leader's troop may ignore 1 hit in melee combat. this skill can only be used once during a melee combat dice roll. Use after battle dice are rolled."
To me, this indicates that the Chant Skill can be used more than once if the Lore cost is paid. Meaning, if I had enough lore, reduce my opponent's hand of dice down to 0 by reusing the skill multiple times before a dice roll. Is this the intent of the skill, or merely an oversight?

-New Topic-
I wanted to know if the Giant Spider is similiar to a mounted unit in that it may perform a persuit and bonus attack since its movement speed is similiar to mounted units. My tendancy is to believe that it is treated like other creatures in that it does not get to perform these follow-on actions. Thanks!

I'm not sure if this forum lets you edit your posts as I can't see a button around anywere so I'll jsut post again.
I just wanted to also know if anyone is playing with any house rules regarding the cleric as well.

I'm interested in getting the relatively new Heroes expansion and I have been taking a look at each of the hero types. To me, the most underpowered hero looks like the cleric. His skill to ignore a hit as a champion seems useless as I can't see him battling with his 1 die mace too often. His other abilities are nice, but they seem too expensive in lore cost to sustain for very long. What are all of your impressions?

Good lord that look mighy fine; nice job! I think you've just set the bench. Did you build the shelving yourself?

I've played Battlelore base game several times, and have come to the conclusion that the goblins are inherently weaker than the dwarves and the extra 1-2 units the French get to compensate (as per the scripted scenarios) is not a full compensation! I can see that having the blue and red short sword units getting an extra move into battle can be used as a nice tactic, but that Goblin Run ruins my plans almost every game, even with supported units! Is this a fair assessment?
Do you generally see a higher goblin:dwarf ratio when using Call to Arms to compensate further?
I was walking through a game store the other week and picked up a copy of Goblin Skirmishers that was still on the shelf. I haven't opened it yet, but I just wanted the community's opinion about whether or not you think the goblin's need the help or not to balance the English.
Also, I've been hearing rumors of a possible collection of the dwarf and goblin specialist units into entire army packs for release in the future; is this something we should expect to see within the next year or two? If it is, would you suggest that I wait unitl then so I don't end up buying copies of units that I already have?
Thanks everyone for your time to help me!

As per the wording on the card, no. A SoS symbol acts as a black flag when rolling for the Battlelore command card, meaning no units can be ordered for either symbol. To my understanding, creatures cannot be ordered using this card then.
-
The earth elemental is not required to be removed from the board if it isn't ordered, unlike the rock elemental, correct?
-
Thanks alot for the clarification Mr. Borg!

I checked the comprehensive FAQ pdf and did not find the answer to my question.
Can the active player play backstab on an opponent's unit that is battling back after an attack by one of his/her units, or is the unit battling back not considered "attacking" for the purposes of this card?
I'd vote that it is not "attacking" since it can not perform the follow-on actions of an attacking unit like gain ground.

Any BL in northern NJ?
