  1. Good for you, enjoy it. Obviously you and I differ in what we want/expect from the game. And, yeah you could argue that I could just either fill in the parts of this edition, that I feel are missing. Or, convert material from the pervious editions. To which I say "A game that asking me to pay this amount, shouldn't require me to fill in the gaps". Again. I do lik e the game. I just am not willing to pay that much for the whole thing, nor do I want to "Work" to make it do what I want. there are plenty of other RPGS out there. So, have fun and "See ya".

I rearely buy any more then is need to play a game- For example if I were of a mind to play D&D4E (which, BTW has 0 appeal to me) I'd buy the 3 core books and be done with it. - Every other book beyound those are strictly optional. The thing of it with V3 is not set up that way. that is by design. I don't think anyone would argue that the core set is "complete". Not with a straight face, any way...
  3. Total cost. As in once the game is fully released (if ever) . As I said, I can afford the parts (with ease), but when you begin to add the individual parts up, it becomes the most expensive RPG I know of. Core + ATK+GMTK+WoM+?+?+?= wellll....a sizeable chunk of change. Now I don't blame FFG for charging what they can, and I find the game fairly enjoyable, but in the end, what it amounts to is, I am not willing to spend more on it. Again, I like the game. And FFG can charge what they want for it. But I have made my choice, and that is to spend my gaming $'s else where. Who knows, maybe after a while, I'll take another look at it.
  4. The price on this game is, regrettably, is the end of this game for me. I don't fault FFG for wanting to make a buck. And, if I really wanted to, I could buy every bit. I mean lets face it, $50 every few months is not a huge deal. I just can't justify a game that is gonna cost as much as this one does, when it is all said and done. I just don't see it as worth it.

Given that the previous two "Expansions" feel more then a little bit like filler. That is "Stuff that could have/should have" been in the core set + some tokens and card board doodads...I kinda suspect there is some "testing of the waters" so to speak (Lets see just how many pieces can we split this game in to"....). And it's not that I dislike the game. But Well, lets just say that The Gathering Storm is gonna be the "make or break point" for our group-If it's a Great campaign set, we are all in. If it turns out to be "meh" we are out...
  6. What ever is next can by guarenteeded to contain 1) A (thin?) Book, 2) cards, 3) Stand ups, and 4) More cards....as well as a) Some tokens, and b) maybe a map...
  7. We played for a few months. Most of the "fiddly bits" stayed in the box. No tokens, location cards, progess trackers or stand ups were used. Worked fine. We did use the wound, mis-cast, insanity cards, and player stance do-hickies. The action cards are nice and work well. The dice are pretty cool. In the end, though we put the game on hold, until something other then more cards, trackers and stand ups becomes available And to be honest, as time has gone by, I find I am more and more put off by the prospect of ever growing stacks of cards, as the game evolves...
  8. On the whole not a bad idea. But, for me it would depend on exactly how it was done. How many per pack? whats the price? what do they include? Done well, I'd welcome it. Done poorly, it would probably kill my interest in the game. All in all, I think I am with Lebanc, give them to me all at once, preferably with rule expansions, and what not.
  9. Personally I would have rather had the campaign then the tool kit. I am more curious about this book, I want to see them put their rules to use in an extended campaign.
  10. Heh, the simple solution is to exploit these "combat machines" weakness. There has to be some area they are deficient in. Take note of where they short suited them selves, and hammer them with it.

I am not sure I understand the first part of your question. But, no I don't have any reason to think they will be incompatible if/when they release any sort of advanced rule. What I am getting at, is their release schedule, and it is of course just my own opinion. But it seems to me, it would have been a better choice to put out the core set and Gathering storm at the same time. As far has what they put out - the toolkit and the up coming GM kit, well, just me again-but it seems that the majority of this material could have been in the basic set to begin with. In short I am waiting for something more substantive rules wise before I buy any further material (that is after I get my hands fn the Gathering Storm.).

  13. For what ever it is worth, I was concerned about the longevity of a campaign upon my first "read through'. The game is just not built for the long haul.
  14. I am GMing a group of six. As stated above-making copies of needed cards is the best solution. With six, the game can bog down at times-but this is due to 1) Its a new system .(4 sessions so far), and 2) More importantly a dice shortage. Passing the die around is a pain. and 3) Space. But that is more do to the size of our gaming area....
