  1. Hefsgaard said: you do have several turns during the action phase. Eksample: German player has initiative and activates 3 units, one at the time. Then the US player activates 3 units. German player 3 units. ... Until alle units have been activated, killed or placed into OP-fire. Thanks. So everything's clear now.
  2. Sorry if my question may seem stupid, but I'm just going to play my first game of ToI and I'm not sure of the meaning of the action phase. If., for example, the scenario says that each player has 3 action per round, it means that player 1 does his 3 actions and then player 2 does his and the game proceeds to the command phase? I found this part of the rulebook a bit confusing because it says: 'After a player has completed all the actions of his action turn, his opponent must complete his action turn, after which the first player again takes another action turn, etc.' From the above it follows that you can have several action turns (for example 3 actions each) in your action phase? So when would you decide when your action phase ends? I'd be grateful if somebody answered my probably stupid question, but I'd like to play it right and I haven't found any film on the Internet where I could watch the correct order of the phases. Thanks Kacper
  3. Thanks for your reply. Now I understand the situation. I knew that it was impossible for a game with so many fans not to have fan created scenarios. It's a shame that FFG doesn't support their product in a proper way, especially that in the rulebooks for the expansions they say that you can find more scenarios for the game online. I must say that I don't understand the approach of FFG to suporting their products. Now I know that I will probably not buy another expansion, as it is not one of the cheapest games in the market. Of course, I could create my own scenarios, but I'm not talented enough. Anyway, thanks for your answer and let's hope things will change (I hope as well for the Descent scenario creator to be updated).
  4. Hi everyone, I've just bought my copy of ToI together with Days of the Fox expansion. For the last few years I've been playing a lot of memoir 44, but recently I've got fed up and finally decided to try ToI. I hope its more complex rules will make the game more challenging and increase replayability of scenarios. After reading the rulebook online I think that less depends on sheer luck than in Memoir. But what I wanted to ask more experienced players was if there are any fan created scenarios using the new elements and rules from all the expansions. What was really great about memoir was the living community site with perfectly organized scenario site with scenarios from all the expansions. I've looked through some 50-60 scenarios on fgg scenario site, and I think there are only fan created scenarios from the base game uploaded. It reminds me of the Descent site where the same thing happens - tons of scenarios for the base game and terribly few for the expansions (I daresay only for the first one). Is it the effect of the 'fading novelty' or can the scenarios be found somewhere else? It's a bit striking for me that with the arrival of new expansions with such great themes experienced players don't rush to publish their own scenarios. I'd be grateful if somebody could describe the situation to me, because before I decide to buy next expansions I would like to know if I won't stay with just the 6 or 8 from the rulebook. BTW What does the term 'custom' mean? I thought that they were created with the expansion elements (like maps and card decks) but I don't think that's the case. Regards Kacper

  6. leptokurt said: IMO the spirit deck is helpful against each of the scenarios because of it's ability to keep your threat low. Most of the nasty shadow effects don't trigger if your threat is lower than 35 (at least in the coreset adventures). If you have a leadership hero, Dunedain Mark + Warning are going to increase your fighting abilities a lot. Btw, is it a special scenario that you have problems against or is it a general problem? For example, I think that tactics is less helpful against JdtA than both the leadership and the spirit sphere (I'm currently trying out my leadership/lore deck against that scenario, and it has become a lot harder for me to defeat it). I had a spirit/lore deck when I was playing against JdTA and I won about 90 percent of my games. Try Eowyn, Eleanor and Beravor (or Bilbo). Gives you a starting threat of 26 (or 25), so you have 4 (5) turns to draw some cards that help you against the troll or lower your threat. If you have Bilbo you should have drawn 16 cards, so you should have Gandalf or Meeting of the Galadrim by then. Spirit/leadership is designed to challenge THfG. Leadership has it's shining hour against CatC, as I have experienced with my deck, but surely both leadership and spirit should also do well. I am so overwhelmed by this game that I feel like a small hobbit and am still fighting the first adventure. I build new decks just to try how they work in the very first adventure. I think I have gathered some experience with this game after having played the mirkwood for about 50 times, so I will finally try the second adventure today. I'm absolutely terrified with the difficulty level of this adventure (if Passage was 1 I don't want to think what 4 means...), but I hope it will be even more fun than the first one. Thanks everybody for your help Kacper
  7. Hi everyone, As in the topic, after building several decks it seems to me that all my decks lacking the tactics cards and heroes where completely impotent against the adventures. There is no one to kill the monsters, only just questing and healing, etc. Probably I'm wrong, but although I knew that the game was tough on solo players I'm beginning to be slightly discouraged from playing and buying further APs. The percentage of my wins is laughably low. I'd be grateful for some suggestions to relive my enthusiasm for this game. Regards Kacper
  8. Thanks a lot for the clarification. Now I know it was too easy. I have to rethink my abilities then, since now even the Passage will become difficult to me.
  9. Sorry if this question is stupid or has already been answered, but I'm not sure about the shadow effect. Do I place the shadow card only the first time the enemy engages me by going down from the threat zone (I don't know if it called this in English as I play Polish version) or do I have to resolve a shadow effect every time I fight with the enemy? So far I have played as if one enemy was given a shadow effect only once, which was not bad. But today I've decided to play it the other way and the game was much more difficult, mainly due to the fact of the fast attrition of the encounter deck and having to shuffle all the beaten enemies to the deck again. I'd be grateful if someone helped me with this dilemma, because I don't like the feeling that I win because, in a way, I have cheated the game. And besides, it's one of the few games which I ilke the more the more difficult it is to conquer it.
  10. I logged in my first few quests, but I'm concerned that although I can input my losses they are not seen in the overall statistics or summary. I was hoping it was possible as sometimes we can learn more from our failures than successes. Is there any way to make them included in the record? And when we input 2-player games we can only mention one deck which, again, after some time will not tell us much about the reasons of our success. I think I misunderstand the name 'log'. It just seems to be a place to compare average results and not gather data for coming back to later to see what happened during our plays. Am I right? By no means is my intention to criticize the device as it's a really great way to check where we stand compared to other players.
  11. Bones1968 said: Thank You, Most of the other quest sets spell out the victory conditions on the last card. But the second quest card didn’t. I am having a great time playing this game. I am considering quitting my job so I can play it more. So am I Since I bought the game I have stopped doing anything else but played it. I am even thinking of bringing it to work, but being a teacher I think it would be difficult to play secretly. The only thing that still keeps me at work is earning enough to buy all the oncoming expansions and APs My wife only tolerates my new addiction because she hasn't found a name for it yet to give it to my doctor.
  12. I would also like to be added as a friend. I've got another question concerning the log. The points mean that the fewer I've got the better? Cheers
  13. Hi everyone It's my first post here so I'm a bit self-conscious Could you explain to me how this quest log works and what I should do to be able to input my data to it? Thanks Kacper
