That's all well and good, but I'm specifically speaking about game terminology here. There are many different definitions for the words action, maneuver, evade and focus but each has a specific in-game definition that doesn't necessarily equate to it's out-of-game definition. What I'm asking for is a reference in the rulebook to beam weapons, as you seem to be using "beam weapon" as a game term.beams weapon is a term generic used for engery weapons;
in brief:
A beam weapon uses a high-energy beam of atomic or subatomic particles (either photons or forms of charged particles) to damage the target by disrupting its atomic and/or molecular structure. A particle beam weapon is a type of directed-energy weapon, which directs energy in a particular and focussed direction using particles with negligible mass. Some particle beam weapons are real and have potential practical applications for example as an anti-ballistic missile defense system for the United States and their Strategic Defense Initiative. The vast majority however, are science fiction and are among the most prolific weapons seen there. They have been known by a plethora of fantastic-sounding names: Particle Accelerator Guns, Ion Cannons, Proton Beams, Lightning Rays, Ray Guns, lasers, phasers etc,.

Can you reference where the rulebook or any game element references "beam weapons?"so you have no evidence?

We'll have the apocalypse, ragnarok, armageddon and the rapture all at the same time with these. They'll be the assapocnarageddonture missiles.

We have confirmed the Kessel Run is happening over at Paladin on Dec. 22. My roommate and I have signed up, if anyone else does go ahead and post here.
Also, if anyone sees it being run at other stores post here as well. I'd like two shots at a Slave 1.

I also live in the Avalon area, but I do all my games at the Armadillo. Lots of life-long friends there, so I know all the people, and they're awesome. There's about 10 of us (under-estimating) who've bought into the game so far, and I know the owner has put in for the Kessel Run event. There's almost always someone there looking to play.
Amorous Armadillo in Oviedo:

I've been wondering where that place moved to after the Aloma location closed down. Still, if you're ever up for playing at Paladin just shoot me a message.

So I spoke with the owner of Paladin yesterday, he's signed up for the Kessel Run event. Here's hoping he gets approved for it.
-
Still, lots of good games going on. I'm happy to see more people playing, every time I've gotten a game in at Paladin we wind up with observers.
-
I've found that despite the utility of the named pilots, most all of them go down just as quickly as their generic equivalents. With a few notable exceptions, Luke Skywalker and Dark Curse come to mind, my named pilots wind up just being higher priority targets. I don't think I've played with Howlrunner in a game yet and seen him live past turn three. Yes he's amazing while he's out there, but 18 points for a TIE is a bit on the steep side. They're good, but the increased point cost really does balance them out.

I actually live in Avalon itself. Tomorrow at Paladin sometime around 1 is the plan, I've run into others playing on Sundays before. My roommate should be there as well, so the more the merrier.

I'm available any day later this week except for tonight and thursday. I was finally able to get to coolstuff and get all the ships I'll need.
Fantastic. I'll be at CoolStuff on Wednesday, if you want to get a game in then I'm down.

For those interested, I have the evening free tomorrow (Oct 8) and would love to get a game in.

I've been having a lot of luck with two lists I run. They function very differently on the table, and I like variety.
List 1: My preferred list, this squadron features a fair bit of target confusion as well as tactical versatility and flexibility. With the way I run it, I avoid giving my opponent any clear target to focus fire on, and play as a skirmishing attrition game.
Darth Vader with Concussion Missiles
Night Beast
Dark Curse
Academy Pilot x3
List 2: This hits harder, but doesn't have quite the versatility of the previous list. I run my TIEs in formations of three and pummel isolated ships with hard-hitting focus fire.
Marek Steele with Marksmanship
Backstabber
Night Beast
Winged Gundark
Academy Pilot x2

If there's enough people to run a tournament, I'll gladly show up. I called on Saturday and found nobody had registered yet, so I didn't bother going.I was at the tournament on Sunday, and there wasn't quite enough of a turn-out to run a full tournament, but we did run a 2-on-2 skirmish that was a lot of fun. And I know the plan is to try do monthly tournaments/game days going forward.
-
I generally show up on Sundays and play with my roommate, but beyond that there's no set schedule.

The only advantage to having initiative that I've seen winds up lying with critical hits. If you manage to land a crit on the opposing ship with equal pilot skill, shooting before it will help you. Otherwise it makes no difference in the combat phase, as the rules for simultaneous shots mean the ship without initiative still gets to fire.
Also, the tournament rules use different criteria for determining advantage. If both squads have equal point values, you flip a coin.

It looks like there's a tournament over at Sci-Fi City this Sunday.

Whoopsie on the double post.

I'm considering lining my bases with this:
javascript:void(0);/*1348462342570*/
I've got it on the bottom of some coasters I made, and it works fantastically. The washers are a good idea to give them a bit more heft, I used to glue pennies underneath my Warhammer figures for the same reason.

What do you say about this, then? I think the idea in the quoted sentence above is very cogent.
Because were it not for the phrase "this round" then the ability would continue round after round without requiring an action to renew. As it stands the ability modifies the process denoted by the verb "to attack" rather than dice rolls over the course of the combat phase. Because each attack is completely resolved before the next attack is made, each attack is a separate process being taken by the players. By having Marksmanship only fully apply to one of the two attacks made the game introduces an element of awkward bookkeeping with no components to back it up. Every other dice modification in the game that is consumed after being used includes a corresponding component to maintain simple bookkeeping. Making the ability of Marksmanship apply fully to every attack made follows the design conceits, reduced efficacy across multiple attacks does not.
In summary with my previous post, the following support my argument that the focus to critical hit modification applies to both Cluster Missile attacks when using Marksmanship;
1. The linguistic structure of verb phrases.
2. The linguistic conceits of the game.
3. The component conceits of the game.
Now, what about the statement you are referring to sounds cogent? I would like to see your reasoning.

The Trench Run - Rules Question
in Star Wars: The Card Game
Posted
The main question about the Trench Run that I have right now is wether or not the unopposed bonus applies to the Death Star dial. Because the rulebook states you deal one additional damage to the objective, will the non-objective engagement deal damage? By the wording I'd say no, but what would the intent be?
Much like the objective "Fleeing the Empire." At the moment it allows you to place a shielding token after you refresh, but by order of operations you remove all shielding tokens immediately after effects that occur "after you refresh." I'm pretty sure that one's a typo of some sort.
