  1. In my area, Legion was very popular when it first launched.....then 40k Kill Team and Age of Sigmar 2.0 dropped and killed all interest in Legion. Can't really blame it on stock as my FLGS seems to have a decent amount. No one is buying though. Its admittedly tough in my area as 40k (as well as now Kill Team) is the dominate game. You always see a game of 40k or Kill Team being played just about any day during the week.
  2. We already got the "something big" they were referring to ....it was the fan favorite Thrawn and his unique ISD.
  3. They also gained a lot too....its still a very popular game hence why they still support it and are cranking out new expansions on a consistent basis. If the player support wasn't there they would have canned it like the Star Wars LCG. My point is all of these collectable games have a relatively short shelf life and will either end or be rebooted into a newer version rendering your current collection what many would consider "worthless". They are sunken cost items and not an investment. By the negative and irate comments that consistently pop-up on forums when this happens whether its a CCG, LCG, miniatures game, or RPG reboot, people seem to not understand the economics involved and the sense of entitlement looms large.
  4. FFG has done that by offering the Conversion Kits. Ask Game of Thrones LCG version 1.0 players what they got when the Second Edition launched a few years ago. (Hint: there was no Conversion kits)
  5. Perfectly stated! Version 2.0 is a new game that in the end will cost similar amounts of cash to achieve equal results you had achieved in Version 1.0. Just because you played and collected Version 1.0 does not entitle you to gain free admission into Version 2.0. It doesn't work that way....its called a capitalistic society where money is to be made by a BUSINESS by providing a service, entertainment, or product and in this case a luxury item. Only you can determine what your 1.0 collection is worth...if you thought this would be an investment or retain value long term you should not be playing or purchasing these types of sunken cost games. The only tangible value your collection has is the enjoyment YOU received from collecting it or playing it or choosing to hold onto it. If you feel you wasted money and your 1.0 collection is of no value to YOU then do not continue to make the same purchasing mistakes with Version 2.0 or any other collectable game.
  6. The feelings you express are shared by many but this should be of no surprise to anyone. Successful games of this type always will evolve into a new version and you need to realize this when you decide to buy-in to a game. There will always be a better version of a product available someday. Only you can decide whether to "buy-in" to Version 2.0 or just be content with your existing 1.0 collection. Your financial commitment and capability needs to be the deciding factor or you will be faced with this contemplation all over again in a few years from now when they release Version 3.0 of the game if it remains successful enough to do so.
  7. Not true. They only guarantee that for Wave I not for Wave 2 and beyond. The Conversion Kit on launch they will not contain all the unique pilots they plan to re-release. Most of the pilots in the Conversion Kits will be generic non-unique pilots with just stats and no special abilities to allow you to field your old ships immediately upon release but not expected to remain competitive without re-purchases of old ships re-released blisters or future newer Conversion Kit purchases. They have not designed 2.0 that far ahead....they would be foolish to do so. The only guaranteed unique pilots in the Conversion Kits will be from Wave I. Same applies to the upgrade cards. Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Lando will not all, if any, be in the Conversion kit. You will need to repurchase the re-released Falcon blister pack when it rereleases in Wave 2 or 3 to get those unique pilot cards. Expect the launch Conversion Kit to have two generic YT-2400 pilot cards.
  8. I agree...it is becoming apparent that the Conversion Kits will give you the dials and initial pilot and upgrade cards to field your old collection immediately but you will find yourself needing to repurchase the re-released blisters to get new and better upgrade cards and pilot cards anyway from Wave 2 onwards. This is HUGE in terms of a need for clarification because I already see folks making some serious mis-assumptions regarding what you really get in the Conversion Kits.
  9. The problem is there are folks out their thinking they won't have to buy anything that is re-released for the next couple years because it will be in the Conversion Kit which is NOT true. In the end you may be better off forgoing purchasing the Conversion Kits and letting your existing models go and just purchase all the new blisters including the new re-releases to get "everything" needed to play particularly competitively.
  10. You can still play them in Version 1.0 ....thats what you paid for. You're not entitled to play them in version 2.0 unless you pony up the cost to play the new version. To think otherwise is a sense of entitlement.
  11. Team Covenant is a very reputable site and those guys have the inside track with FFG ....I doubt they will make this statement without be pretty certain on the facts.
  12. You won't be able to play organized events/tournaments without all the physical pilot cards/upgrade cards for your list. The app is just for list building...you still need to bring the physical gear to play.
  13. Just an FYI for everyone to consider before pulling the trigger on Conversion Kits........It appears from the Team Covenant article that there will probably be upgrade cards in future re-release blisters that will not be in the Conversion Kits forcing you to re-buy your older ships anyway if you want the new upgrade cards and pilots not available in the Conversion Kit. https://teamcovenant.com/learning/star-wars-x-wing/everything-need-know-x-wing-second-edition-x2-reboot from the TC blog article...... "So for many of us the first wave will consist of ships that we already have. We are pretty sure that these re-releases will still have new content in them though, like pilots and upgrades that are not in the Conversion Kits, as well as the aforementioned re-sculpt factor. We already know that the new X-wing has moving S-Foils and the new Y-wing looks incredible, so…" This is important info that NEEDS to be clarified by FFG.

  15. AMEN. This is just a GAME....a LUXURY item.... not a necessity. If you don't have the necessary disposable income to participate then you should not be concerned with playing and you should reprioritize your prioritizes. FFG owes us nothing, they are a company out to make profit plain and simple. If they don't they won't exist. They need to pay their staff for development costs, actual manufacturing costs are minimal in comparison. FFG offered us X-Wing 1.0 and you chose to buy into it and play. No one is coming to your house to take your current X-wing collection away. Now there is a version 2.0 which is a new game for all intents and purposes. It's your choice whether you wish to or more importantly can afford financially to collect and play this new version. There is no entitlement in life and nothing lasts forever. If you believe that, you are in for severe disappointment in your life.
