  1. These two auctions are on E-bay and was wondering if people are using other ships to play X-Wing? Early on I saw several posts with people gathering massive fleets of other ships, but nor sure how common this is. So far my group has only used the actual FFG models as any battle over 100pt per side seems to become a bit cumbersome with the game mechanics and time. Rebels: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330947128821?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 Imperials: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-Imperial-Ships-Suitable-for-FFG-X-wing-/330947132032?pt=Games_US&hash=item4d0dfc7a80 Other than the Tie Advanced I do not think I would be happy with the Imperials, but some of the Rebel ships look really close especially the A-Wing and Y-Wing. The battle damage ones actaully look pretty cool. Does anyone know if these are Micromachines or are currently using them? I currrently have 4 of each FFG fighter in my collection, so no real need here, but if someone is looking to do large battles these seem like they would be cheap subsitutes especially sine the FFG ships have been hard to find in stock. Just curious what others think?

  3. I had my doubts about this when I first saw this thread. All my regular sources are now out. I initally ordered only 2 A-Wing/interceptors with the plan to by up to two more locally. Fortuately I did grab the extra two at the LGS before they sold out. While good for me this news is both good and bad for the game. The good thing is that interest is obviously higher than anticipated. The bad is if they are not able to quickly react and restock it could turn players off as well as limit new player involvement. Wave2 hit the shelve less than a week ago and the small ships are sold out at most major online game retailers as well as many LGS. I know I would be rather upset if I had been waiting and in less than a week missed the opportunity to uy because I did not realize thay had hit the shelves yet. Let's hope they are able to restock soon.
  4. Pygon said: I went with 2 of each. Even if I rarely ever use more than 1 in a squad, extras of the upgrade cards are nice to have too. This is kind of my thinking. I bought my brother a Falcon for his upcoming B-Day this weekend. He does not play(yet), but was a huge Star Wars Han solo/Falcon fan so I fugure he can display the model. If he does not pick up the game I might be able to score his cards.
  5. Those will work excellent and free all the better. I have seen the 3D stuff and while excellent work just not what I am looking for right now. I want the ships to be able to fly over/through them like and asteroid.
  6. Daeglan said: Shapeways does have turbolaser turrents while 3D would be nice they are harder to play with like asteroids. My thought is they could simply be obstacles, targets or given a range with attack dice or any combination of the three.
  7. I wish there was a poll option, or if there is how to use it. So, I have seen the many posts about multiple Firespray and YT-1300 builds. I am wondering how many are actually buying multiples of each? To me there is only one Milenium Falcon and Slave 1. With that said some of the upgrade cards make it really tempting to get at least one more of each just for the cards and display the models. Just tough to pull the trigger even at $20 online prices for just a few cards. So, my question is two fold: 1. How Many of each model are people buying? 2. If buying multiples why (to play or for the extra cards)?

  9. I have seen some wonderful 3Dmaps out there for Death Star scenarios. I downloaded a Death Star Map that comes in 8"x10" sections andincludes the Trench. I printed them on Large Labels and applied to Foam Board so the trench can be removed for a 40" x40" game surface of 48" by 40" area. So far we have just used it as a map nad not run the actual scenario I have seen posted. What I would like to find now is 2D top down Turrets that I could place as obstacles like asteroids or incorporate into a future scenario. I have done a search, but found nothing. Has anyone seen something like this? TIA, Aaron
  10. Welcome to the party…it is a great time to join in. I just started in DEC right before the KRT and very glad a friend talked me into it. I mostly do historical gaming, so this is a nice break in the action as I grew up with Star Wars as a kid.
  11. FFG sells sleeves and the size is on the package of each expansion. IMO it is a waste though since they are already laminate and you are not constantly holding them like a card game. BTW, what did you do to armor plate your dials?

    X-Wing Boxes

I am in the same situation. I tucked them away for safe keeping. one of them contains all the duplicate tokens along with extra unique pilots and astromechs since you can only have one in a game. I also saved all the content lists for each expansion in the event I ever need to divide them up for a trade or something.
  13. I can only speak for MM. I placed my order on 2/17 and finally received an e-mail on Friday 3/1 stating it shipped and should arrive on 3/4. I had also ordered a bunch of WoG planes with it to get the free shipping for over $100. My guess is they are working through them in the order received and you should see something soon from them.

    Falcon.

El_Tonio said: Since they are clear the base game is needed to play (and there is really no way to play the game as intended without the base since you wouldn't have range rulers, damage deck, and movement templets), I'm ok with the Falcon not having a target lock since there are so many extra in the core set. But, it would have been nice to have the sield tokens since there are no extra in the core set, since they give you the extra Ion token, and this could be a problem for those with few ships. I really don't think they need to keep providing numbers (or target locks) at this point. Even if you just have the core set, you really have pleanty of those. I'd rather have extra focus and evade and maybe some other tokens that are more commonly used/lost. Well said. I love the game, but so far my chief complaint is that FFG does not supply extras of the core tokens and no means to purchase them or replacement parts (particularly pegs) if some go missing or are broke. Up to this pont each expansion as come with waht you need to play with that ship (exactly what you need), so it makes no sense not to include the extra shield tokens with the Falcon. For those that do not have extra ships that include shileds proxies can be used, but it is just not the same.
  15. Sanguinary Priest said: Just got my wave 2 ships last night (yay!) and my store owner mentioned an interesting tidbit. He said they were selling quick (the dozen mill falcs and starters each he put on the shelves the afternoon before were down to one starter and no falc by the end of last night when I left) and that he tried to place a reorder yesterday to no avail. When he called FFG and multiple distributors, they were out and couldn't ship him anything more. I don't know if FFG got another small shipment from China or if they're staggering the release of the supplies or if they simply underestimated or if they sent most of the lot to big box stores like Target and Barnes and Nobles (who both carry it here in the US)… Assuming some other players chime in after asking their stores about this, it might be a good idea to buy Wave 2 items sooner rather than later if this is confirmed to be true elsewhere as well. Interesting, I know my LGS received their shipment and there was alot of hype in our group. I bought my stuff Thursday when they were unpacking it. I will have to check back after the weekend. I know Target carries the core set, but I have yet to see any expansions at Target, so I doubt they would be impacting the wave2 stock.
  16. I will have 1 each of the YT-1300 and Firespray and 3 each of the fighters. I may do one more each of the Interceptor and A-Wing. Unless FFG announces a way to get more upgrde cards I can see people buying extra YT-1300 and Firesprays just for the cards. Especially the Firespray with 2 stealth upgrades and the Veteran Instincts included. As for running multiple large ships in a single game I doubt it is something I would be interested in, but I am sure we will see many builds that include them.
  17. Well I broke down and stopped by the LGS last night and picked up an Interceptor and A-wing. They were literally unpacking the order when I arrived, so I was the first to buy. Only $17 as I get a club discount and had earned small rewards credit due to prior purcahses. Since I won Slave 1 during KRT I will just have to wait for my MM order to arrive next week for the Falcon and 2ea of the Interceptor and A-Wing. This should hold me for awhile.
  18. Cid_MCDP said: Total conjecture on my part, but like the other posters, I think the KRT was the direct result of the Wave 2 delay rather than an actual strategy. I've not been a FFG customer for a long time, but to me, it seemed at the time either an olive branch to make up for the delay or an extremely timely coincidence. That said, I think Wave 2 is far from figured out completely. I feel like a lot of folks are still kind of looking at them as separate releases in a vacuum when they were designed to work together. Recall that if the delay hadn't happened, there would have only been a couple of months between the intial release and Wave 2. I think there's a ton of synergy yet to be discovered, and that's only going to come with people playing the game with both Wave 1 and Wave 2 stuff. As for whether it was good or bad, I think it was good. Could it have been handled better, were there complaints, etc., etc.? Sure. But again, I very much feel this was a last-minute effort to try and throw the fledgling X-Wing community a bone and ultimately, I think it did more good than harm. The KRT I played in was a lot of fun and although I'm sure folks that were unable to attend local KRTs wouldn't agree, it was nice seeing new faces from far away places rather than the same old mugs I'm used to. Pretty much my sentimates as well. I was lucky enough to win Slave 1 at our local KRT. We have had some fun playing a few games with it since. As I do not have the others in my hands yet there is still alot to figure out. If any thing I think KRT gave the community a needed boost and every one I know is still very excitied about the release of Wave2.
  19. IMO you cannot go wrong with 2 core sets. You get the most for the money and all the extras. There are generic pilots in the core set as well as well as unique pilots like Skywalker. Two of each expansion will give you the ability to easily build 100pt squads for each faction and switch things up a bit until you find what you like. If Money is a concern then still get the two core sets and start with one of each expamsion and grow from there You will then have a copy of all the pilot cards and upgrades and can decide what you want extra. As for Wave 2 I am starting out with 2 of each fighter and 1 each of the Falcon And Slave1. I was fortunate to win Slave 1 so it will lessen the blow. Unless you are loyal to a LGS Miniature MArket seems to be the place to go and I just noticed today core sets are back in stock for $25. HTH, Aaron
  20. First I have heard this. Did you check online? plenty around by me. Miniature Market is one of the best prices.
  21. Picasso said: I don't fear wave two. My favorite list right now is three X-wings and I have all the wave two ships. I think wave two gives you more options that compete against other builds. Exactly! If you are playing 100pt games there is only so much you can fit in a build. The new options just mean that people are trying new conmbinations and will be less predictable for awhile. I still like my 3 X-wing build as well and adding stealth to Biggs with R2/D2 can be a big boost. I only have Slave 1 so far, so we have not been able to experiment to much, but I am definately looking forward to Wave2 ships arrivng. This game is like many CMG games and it will continue to grow and mature as time goes on which is a good thing as it prevents it from becoming stagnent and people losing interest. IMO from what I have seen so far Wave 1 ships will still be very competitive and wave 2 has not broke anything. For every upgrade you add you have to give something up, there will just be more combos to choose.
  22. I would actually suggest a 2nd core set if you can get it at a good price. Even at msrp it will give you 3 ships and all the extras for less cost. most importantly it will give you more flexibilty to build 100 pt squads with just wave1 as it takes at least 3 x-wings or 5 ties. HTH,
  23. definately go with 2 core sets. you will also eventually want at least 1 x-wing and tie expansion as they include cards/pilots that are not in the core set. it also takes at least 3 x-wings to make up a 100 pt squad an 5 ties. HTH,
  24. I just started in DEC and so far I have two core sets and 3 of each expansion except the Y-Wing (only 2). Additionally I have the Slave 1 that I won in the KR tournament. Just starting out I would recomend the the 2 core sets and then 1 each of each expansion so you can learn what you like and go from there. As mentioned above you can make a nice 100pt buld with 3 X-wings, but ties are less points so you will need a total of 5-6 (can be a combination of Advanced and regular) to field a 100 pt squad. In the KR tounamnet I fielded 2 tie Adv and 3 Ties to make my 100pt sq. Had I known how the points worked I would have probably gone Rebel to save myself som $ and only needed to buy 2 expansons. Have Fun!
