  1. FFG, thanks for the welcome news. Look forward to seeing this when it is released. Great news for us all.
  2. Looks like a great deal for folks that live in the area. Might be fun to visit if traveling in the area.
  3. ToI is a good game, and the official word was stay tuned and more is coming. While I too was looking forward to seeing that next box revealed as an expansion, I am willing to take their word and wait and see what they have in store for us. What would be great to see would be an occasional new official scenario released using the existing components. Publishing a scenario now and again on the website would certainly make folks happy. Face it, the reason we want to see an expansion is because we want more. Lack of a new expansion takes nothing away from enjoying the game that we already have available to us.
  4. staying tuned and hoping the small box title to be revealed will be the long awaited ToI third module. Thanks for the word on continuing support and expansions.

    Choose

Picked up Mag Blast this past week as well as a copy of Munchkin Booty and the Munchkin Booty add on. Have not played either yet, but am looking forward to both. The group I play with have played the original Munchkin and had a blast. We are always up for some lighthearted fun between/before/after more serious titles. Sometimes we just play a bunch of silly short games back to back and never get around to a serious one.
  6. AARGH!!! Pirates would definitely be an interesting game. Based on the quality of the other titles I am sure that they could come up with something good with this theme. Plus, with the fantasy elements of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise being so accepted I would imagine they would have more than just the historical aspects to play with if they wanted.
  7. Great idea, and hope that FFG supports the idea. Of course, they may be working on just that same thing which would be great as well. I agree with the earlier posts in that it would be best if the final output is a scenario sheet product that matches what FFG has put out for the game and expansions. Definitely needs to have all of the materials available to date included. Of course the ability to upgrade when FFG releases another module will be a plus.
  8. I like the Tide of Iron system from FFG and was not intending it to sound like they are not supporting the system. Just that they have a lot of new products expanding other lines and that we have not heard or seen anything on the TOI side of the house. The game and its two boxed expansions themselves are good. Additional maps and the scenario guide add to the system as well. It should be reasonably safe to say that we are all happy with what we have now, just that we like it so much we want more. Clearly the sci-fi/fantasy genres are hot items right now and it makes good economic sense for the company to pursue those titles. However, this is a good expandable title to support as well. My hope is that the last new release to be announced (same box size as the last two expansions) is in fact the long awaited expansion bringing in the Eastern Front or the Pacific. We shall see, surely I am not the only one that checks the site frequently to see when they will unveil what it is?
  9. I too look forward to the finished scenario after you finish working out the balance issues. Nice job.

    Scale

The nice thing about ToI is that it does a fair job of capturing the theme without becoming too bogged down with elaborate details. It appears that a good deal of thought was put into the design, but kept light enough to make the game approachable. The original Squad Leader in my opinion was far better than its spawn ASL. ASL has a large and seriously devout following, but the level of fine details in the game make it difficult and cumbersome to enjoy. It is certainly a good game, but the level of detail and realism inserted into the system affect its ease of play. ToI allows the masses to play an enjoyable game experience without the extreme learning curve and investment in time.
  11. I am seeing a ton of support of other titles and recent launches. Certainly I can not be the only one eagerly awaiting the next installment for ToI. Frankly, I am not sure I really care which way they go first...Pacific or Eastern Front. Either way, would be nice to see some news on an expansion, or better yet the expansion itself.
  12. Thanks much for the responses. I kind of figured that was the case and we had just missed this distinction on our first game. No matter, I still think I would have received the severe beat down, but it may have been slightly less miserable.
  13. My buddy and I are new to the game. We played our first game recently and it appears that we got most of the rules right the first time. We did spend a lot of that first game with our nose in the books verifying as we went to prevent doing it wrong and having to unlearn the wrong stuff. That being said, the one thing that I found that we may have done wrong was with the elite infantry. I read in the rules on a post game re-read that the elite infantry get a +1 defense rating versus suppression fire. We added the plus one, but it was for the whole squad. On my second reading it appears that rules confer a +1 for each figure in the squad. So a single base with four elite in it: Should it get a +1 or +4 vs. suppression fire? Thanks for the help.

  15. i picked up Normandy but do not yet have DoTF. At least one of the scenarios includes the British Bren Gun Carriers which are not in the Normandy set. I suppose that you could borrow a couple of American halftracks as standins to play the scenario though. Me, well...I am going to go out and get the DoTF set here in the next couple of weeks so it won't be an issue anymore.
