  1. Admittedly, I am very late in jumping on the Talisman bandwagon. However, I've been trying to make up for lost time and snatching an expansion or two each paycheck. While looking at various websites (Amazon, Miniature Market, CCG Armory, etc.) I've noticed that the "Frostmarch" and "Sacred Pool" expansions are either out of stock or listed at ridiculously high prices ($50-$60 or more.) Have these two been discontinued or is my timing simply off? I looked over the FFG website, but didn't see anything to that effect. Thanks all for any info!
  2. I always seems to get in to a game as its dying. In this case, Tannhauser. My favorite online store, Miniature Market, has most of the line on clearance. If you're looking to round out the collection, this is a great place to go. Fear not Tannhauser! You have a permanent home in the LeDouche-verse of games! https://www.miniaturemarket.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=Tannhauser
  3. Thank you Triple "A" and zealot12. We figured it was just a run of bad luck and my poor brother got the brunt of it. He hung in like a champ and kept on playing; we were all feeling sorry for him. He's already stated next time, it's the Troll for him.
  4. Good morning all! Picked up the 4th Edition of Talisman and literally just played our first game this weekend. It went very smooth, it was great fun, and we had an absolute blast. However, my younger brother encountered a streak of bad luck and his poor dwarf character was mercilessly pummeled over and over again. This brings up the questions I had to the experienced players. Is there anyway to increase the character's Life? I'm guessing no, I don't see anyting about it in the rule book. With the streak of bad luck, in both drawing cards and die rolls, my poor brother was constantly limping off to get healed. Can Life be increased like the Strength and Craft attibutes? Can greedy characters amass more gold? Back to my poor younger brother. Healing wiped out his gold pretty fast and he had a difficult time getting more. Did we just miss the gold cards in the adventure deck? Thanks all! We're ready for another round this weekend!

The 4th Edition is the previous version by Black Industries (now a defunct company). Ell. Gotcha. Now it makes sense. When I was reading the descriptions earlier, I completely missed the Black Industries tag. Thank you both for the info and clarification.
  6. Good morning all! I recently played my first round of Talisman with a friend of mine and enjoyed it immensely. I was looking at purchasing my own copy of the game however, I'm a bit confused and was hoping someone could clarify for me. What, if anything, is the difference between 4th Edition (I'm assuming this is the current version?) and "Revised" 4th Edition? If I purchase the 4th Edition do I need to purchase the "revised" upgrade? Thank you all for the responses! Any players in the Marietta/Woodstock Georgia area, feel free to drop me a line.
  7. I agree with your post 100%. I didn't pick up Tannhauser until the "revamped" version as well. Now I can't get enough of it. And with all the fantastic figures, factions, etc. coming out in a relatively short time, its a great time to get started! Keep it up FFG!
  8. Thank you for the response Steve-O. The timing was something else; although I am glad I had only purchased the main box set so far. I'm interested to see what 2.0 has in store.
  9. I got the core Descent box set literally a week before they released Descent Version 2. I have a couple of questions for the more experienced folks: With the release of Descent 2.0, is it worth buying the newly released version? Also, with the relase of 2.0, is it worth investing in the other Descent expansions or wait? Thanks all!
  10. I just got my copies of Tannhauser and Novgorod about a week ago, but my ideas have already started. Granted, these are not fleshed out in any way just yet; I'll post more detail as I come up with it. The trick will be finding the miniatures and putting together the cards (any suggestions would be welcome) At some point, I'd like to have: The Eastern Sun: Kung fu experts, Chinese spirits, Japanese Oni, etc. Hollow Earth Denizens: Amazons, Dinosaurs, real "Edgar Rice Burroughs" stuff From Beyond: Creatures from other realities, the depths of space, you name it. Currently, I'm working around the idea of "The SideShow", a group of human (and not so human) "freaks". Mercenaries to the core, "The SideShow" can be found working with just about any faction, though no one knows their true motives. The "ringleader", known only as Hieronymus, seems to have a wealth of arcane knowledge and posses abilities unheard of. Working Roster: Hieronymus the Ringleader Deadeye the Knife Thrower: A specialist in knives of all kinds, Deadeye can hurl his blades with unerring speed and accuracy. Psycho Clowns-Just like the name says. Madame Agatha- Agatha uses her powers of enchantment and illusion to slowly subvert others, building a force that taints both body and soul. The Wildmen-Fighting tooth and claw with unparralled savagery, the Wildmen serve Hieronymus as obdient foot soldiers. Two Ton Tessie-Large, in charge, and ALWAYS hungry, Tessie isn't very particular about where her next meal comes from. Or from who its carved..

  12. I would have never thought to use the Horrorclix for Tannhauser. Excellent idea! I am curious, where did you get the unofficial stats for the characters?
