  1. I scratch-built the entire walker, so when I made the hatch, I made it hinged right from the start. I haven't cut into a factory walker. Looks like it would not be easy to do w/o messing it up. Be better to drill a hole and make a fresh hatch. Buttons make good hatches...the holes just need to be covered or filled in w/ putty. Polystyrene tubing and wire makes for a good hinge.
  2. Thanks, Man! Added a couple close-up pics w/ a commander sticking out the hatch.
  3. Added the option of a commander for the hatch. (he's removable and the hatch can close. ) Also, the grapple comes out so if it grabs something, I can place the grapple on the target walker. Wish the glare wasn't so bad.
  4. Additional pic for more frontal view and tried my phone cam in different light. Still coming out too light in the colors. And the rust is not as monochromatic as this pic (or the others) imply. But at least it shows more of the damage detail. And the hatch works, btw.
  5. That's pretty badass, Dude. How do you make your rounded hulls?
  6. My zombie horde couldn't deal w/ the Soviet heavy walker, so I needed a walker to go w/ them. Posted the pics over in the warfare side. http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/86291-frankenwalker-painted/ The idea is that it is a repaired/rebuilt derilect. ...working out the stats but so far my idea is for it to have no MG, but have Ludwig guns, Wotan AR armor, the Loth claw which can once/game act as a rocket-propelled grappler to attach to another walker and keep it engaged (prevent it from moving out of range). The grappler idea I got from thinking of the zombies along the lines of Firefly Reavers. The Reaver thing also led me to the idea of "No Core Containment" meaning that anything w/in range 1 takes damage due to leakage of whatever powers these things...just another idea purely for the creep factor. As for the armor, I was thinking a weakness whereas if it takes 3-4 hits in one shot it is destroyed. Not sure yet. Another weakness alternative is "unreliable" where it has to roll a dice every turn and on a hit, its movement is reduced to 1 for that turn.
  7. The photos were taken in the sun, so the paint detail shows much less subtle than my eye sees it. It's actually darker than shown, also...sun tends to be bad for digital pics. Still, not too bad, I think. Scratch-built from the base up. For my rules and stat considerations for this, go here: http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/86209-frankenwalker-primed/
  8. Found that my zombie horde needs some armor. It came close but not quite to winning against the soviets but their armor was too much. Too much maneuverability, too much in the way of ranged attack ability. Thus...the Frankenwalker. (I still need to paint it). Built from the base up. The idea is that it is a repaired/rebuilt derilect. ...working out the stats but so far my idea is for it to have no MG, but have Ludwig guns, Wotan AR armor, the Loth claw which can once/game act as a rocket-propelled grappler to attach to another walker and keep it engaged (prevent it from moving out of range). 9. That's pretty **** swanky! Paint it!

    Viking

Yeah, I purposely wanted them to look like brute machines rather than human copies…no care to the beauty of an android…just killing machines. Making each one different keeps to the garage/lab-built feel. Plus it's more fun that way.

hey_yu said: Looking good. Though the name could use some work. Who cares for Terrans when you have some cool Protoss names like Dragoon, Immortal or Stalker. Anywho, it'll be cool to see a full robo army used sometime. Hey Hey Yu, Everyone cares about the Terrans…without them there's be only Zerg to shoot at.

Hey Enrgie, I proxie standard Dust squad cards at the moment until I get around to making proper ones up. Each small robot has one weapon, an MG, rifle, bazooka, etc., so I just match them to what the squad requires. They are 2/2, same as a soldier. The larger robots are the equivalent of walkers, and also use proxy cards for now. Same game, really…just another flavor to it. Looking forward to the Dust Aliens coming out at some point. Robots will be cool w/ that, I think. Also looking to do some robots vs. zombies eventually.

Repeated post for some odd reason…forum not allowing me to delete it…can only modify with this dumb message…grrr.

BTW, the gatling guns rotate, and the arms pivot. I have yet to remember to make the drop-down head rotate as it should. On a side note, I just started productively working w/ oxyacetyline again, so I'll be making some of these robots (the foot soldier versions) in true rusty steel. Looking forward to this week's scavenging odd gears, pistons, etc. towards this art effort. If anyone wants to see what I produce, let me know….this is a gaming forum--I know, but as this is related, I'll post a pic if anyone's interested, just for fun and bragging rights.

My kid named this one…actually, he called it a "grounded Viking" as in StarCraftII.
  16. Pretty Bada$$, Man. The pilot detail is great and the weathering/wear on armor & planes is supurb.

    The Hammer

Thanks, guys. Eventually I'm going to make cards based on the weapon values of the standard cards from both US & Axis. I built the small bots so that there are MGs, rifles, a flamethrower, and bazookas/rocket launchers. They will be 2/2 so w/ 15, I have 3 squads to go w/ 2 walkers. A decent, workable start. Until I make the cards, I'll use standard cards as they are…keeping it simple.

With the addition of this walker, I think I can play my scratch-built robot army on its own. I make them rusty as hell because they're cheap and dirty, stay out in the rain and other elements indefinitely, and spend very little time and resources on self-maintainence.
  19. I like this look…dark and not too flashy. Practical. The armor doesn't scream "shoot me". The basing is nice, too.
  20. Freehanded? Didn't even notice that. Nice brushwork!
  21. scotty kahn said: Not sure if anyone is looking at these, but I'll just keep posting away. Here are the Grim Reapers all done up and ready to smash some face. Let me know what ya think. Hey Scotty, I like your work. FYI, a lot of people view, but comments are a desert on this forum. Not sure why. Your weathering and coloring are good. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Dust nationality decals, but I like the Dust peripheral stuff like the Axis skulls, "wolf" etc. But that has nothing to do w/ your implimentation, which is finely done.

This walker is actually part of my growing robot army. I did forget to paint certain features, but I'll get them later. Not crucial now that the pics are already taken, lol. Also, the turret is half of a Guinness carbonator ball I pulled from an empty. Getting closer to pitting my robot army alone against the other players in my group.

    Robot nonsense

Thanks, Jkrax, WW Robots is a pretty good inspiration. Here's another for the robot army: "Scrubber"
  24. Lookin' good, Man. That laser team is sinister. Nice detail on the eyes of the other dudes.
