Well, what concepts WOULD they have (and I'm not necessarily just talking about kids, by the way)?

I could also be talking about new recruits for the Ferret's Nest, rogue cards from the Queen of Hearts' army, talking and upright animals from the Land of the Willows (from Wind in the Willows), etc.

Heck, I could even be talking about descendants of famous literary characters, (ie: Arthur Gale, Elphaba Wicked, Nate Chopper, etc.)!

And, yes, those descendants can be kids...

  4. Any ideas for archetypes for this we could come up with? Y'know, analogues for the Bully, the Jock, the Nerd, the Dreamer, the Normal Kid, the Popular Kid, etc.?

  5. Also, based on another thread, I came up with something for Captain Hook:

For a while, Captain James Hook has been having a good time. He's overcome his fear of the Clockodile (though he still flies into a rage at its mere mention), he's killed many Lost Boys and fed their hands to the Clockodile (so it'd have a taste for child), he's instigated a war between the indians and the cannibals, he's trained his animals (from his circus when he was Ravello) into his crew, and he's been coming up with ways to counter the chance of faerie attacks and Peter Pan's flying. There's just one problem: He doesn't know where Peter is! As such, he's been searching the Grimm Lands high and low for Peter Pan.

I called the Crocodile the "Clockodile", because the Clockodile is now part clock, by the way.

  6. What do you suppose the original heroes of the OZ books might be like (ie, Dorothy Gale, Fiyero the Scarecrow, Nick "Boq" Chopper the Tin Woodsman, and Brrr the Cowardly Lion)?

Personally, I think Fiyero (who, before he was turned into the Scarecrow, was in love with Elphaba) is torn between his love for Elphaba and his loyalty to his friends.

While the Wizard can be quite kind at times, he honestly is a bit unscrupulous, and has no powers of his own, and thus mooches off others' work. An ordinary man who came to OZ purely by accident, the Wizard now finds himself trapped in a kingdom under siege, with many people thinking that either he has some plan to save OZ, or is acting out that plan. He has absolutely NO idea what he's doing, and is terrified that he'll finally be exposed as a fraud. His only hope is that someone (ie, the PCs) will step in and do his job for him...

Also, the Wizard inadvertently angered Elphaba when he convinced her to use the "Grimmiere" to create quite a few things that ultimately led to the creation of such things as the flying monkeys, the flying broom, etc. for his own benefit. However, when Elphaba realized what was going on, she took the Grimmiere, the Broom, and the flying monkeys and ran. In response, the Wizard declared Elphaba a "Wicked" witch, and waited for her to either come crawling back for a pardon, or be killed. Unfortunately for him, she did neither, and he had to send in some girl, a heartless tin man, a stupid scarecrow, and a cowardly lion to defeat her. However, a bucket of water isn't enough to kill a witch! They should have AT LEAST sealed her remains in a mirror-lined box! They only realized their folly when she began attacking OZ with a renewed effort and a new ally... the Rotten King!!!

What do you think of my idea for the Wizard?

  10. Also, I think most wicked witches might be willing to work with the Rotten King (if it furthered their own ends), particularly Elphaba, the so-called "Wicked Witch of the West", who might work with him in order to get revenge on the not-so-Wonderful Wizard of OZ.

    >>I see. To be honest, I never read Alice's Adventure in Wonderland. I've only seen the movies.<<

Go read them ... go read them now.  Lewis Carroll was one of the most brilliant children's story writers in the last two centuries - his Alice books do, indeed, deserve all the praise and attention they have received.

    >>and while you are there your reflection is out in the other place causing troubles. It looks just like you, so you may get into serious problems when you go back.<<

The mirror ways are a good idea.  This quote here sounds like it came directly from "Jags Wonderland", not that I'm complaining, it is a wonderful setting well worth taking bits and pieces from.  And, of course, free is a very good price.  ( http://www.jagsrpg.org/ )

    >>The Mad Hatter and the March Hair are...well...mad. But in the crazy, topsy turvy world of Grimm, they have actually become some of the most sane NPCs you'll run across.<<

Can't say I'm fond of this idea.  The Madd Hatter was madd even by the standards of Wonderland - which was saying something.  You would do a disservice to the character by making him "sane by comparison"

    >>They spend their days drinking tea and will tell you anything you want to know if you are able to make them the perfect cup of tea(Home-Ec test of 6). But, even then, their answers are usually riddles.<<

I think I'd do something more in line with how the Hatter is portrayed in American McGee's Alice - the twisted ruler of a Clockwork realm of maddness and horror.

So... what, the Mad Hatter's a student from the Clocktower who didn't quite "take" to being Clockhearted?

  12. Wonderland is ruled over by three rulers: The homicidal Queen of Hearts (who rules from the City of Hope), the less homicidal Red Queen (who rules from the City of Faith), and the mostly-sane White King (who rules from the City of Charity). Wonderland is split in half by the Mountains of Gloom, which, while not as great as the Worlds' End Mountains, still make it quite hard to access both kingdoms. Fortunately, the Beanstalk also passes through the Mountains of Gloom, creating one of two ways through the Mountains. the other is the Guarded Way, a pass which both the Monarchy of Hearts and the Looking Glass Lands have created.

  13. I was just thinking... perhaps some of the players in a  Grimm game might be natives to the Grimm Lands, sort of like guides like in Avatar: The Last Airbender?

Please let me know what you think...

  14. One of the wisest beings in the Grimm Lands, is, quite honestly, Major Caterpillar. He knows just about everything, and what he doesn't know, his network of contacts, snitches, stoolies, and informants will relay to him lickety-split! Of course, his vast knowledge has made him a little rude. He'll most likely heckle you and make you do his his dirty work. However, after the kids adventure for a while in the Grimm Lands, his base suffers an attack from the Rotten King, which sobers him up a lot. He charges a lot less for his services, and nervously smokes his hookah while he talks, which leads the kids to leave after speaking with him, hacking and coughing uncontrollably for several minutes (-1 for Hide and Cool checks, most likely)
