They only have STC templates of technology that they had when they arrived.  What they do have is instructions on how to keep their equipment in the best shape possible.  Since they didn't don't get along with the AM, they don't get anymore new toys.  They don't get Predator Variants, Powered Armor past Mk4, Dreadnoughts, or a lot of exotic weapons.  The stuff they do have is better quality than others because the chapter constantly repairs, maintains and builds new ones.

Not sure what happened with the spelling, I ran this through word before hand.

Predator with lascannons was actually made by the space wolves. Later the AM forgave them and let it become a standard design. I am sure they would have a few as the Space Wolves do not care who they piss off as they have their own forge worlds producing stuff for them. So I am sure that the wolves would have shared that information, even if done under the table if asked for it by another marine chapter.

Israeli military allows men and women to serve in combat arms. So the argument that modern day armies do not is false. Also the US military is allows talking about doing it, though I think the issue with if they allow gays in is a more pressing concern at the moment.

Again, I never said they didn't.  Read it again.  Read where I said anything like that.  You're creating a strawman argument then changing the topic.  Why?  Gender is a social construct.  Your Cultural Marxism is telling.  Where in the thread are we talking about homosexuals?  We're not.  But that's a hot button issue for the Cultural Marxists and therefore you cannot help yourself.  You must continue the relentless attack until there's an androgenous grey paste.

Thank you for taking the time to prove my point.

Cultural Maxism? Dude you need to relax, I am actually a conservative. Name calling and acting like introducing 40K to FSM is somehow going to make the world end is just....well crazy. I am not going to start name calling and I think you need to step back and relax for a moment. I Brought up that topic for a reason, that reason is that it does bother me....WHY because I don't think they should be open about if they are in the military. I wont go further then that but I never liked it when my brothers in the fighting holes next to me talked about their latest sexual conquest. Be careful about how you go about defending your opinion. Attacking people over the internet and calling names is only going to get you banned.

All I did was point out that in modern day military coed combat units do exist, and say that women are unable to fight, while for the majority true as they do not wish too, there is a minority that can do just as well as men.

I'll make sure to put some up.

Where abouts do you live though? Most Western European countries have their own Games Days, and the US has a couple, I believe, in different areas of the country.

Near the rocky mountains, in colorado. Most of the Games day cons take place on the east coast.

  4. I have never been a fan of conventions. But If i was going to go to one, it would be a Games day one. Still they are many days away by car or an expensive plan ticket to England. Also the whole thing is a little too expensive for my tastes once everything is paid for.  Have fun mill, send us some pictures.

I was hoping that some day I get to play in a game where the GM rules that there are female Space Marines.  I want to play a man who was trapped in cyro-freeze sometime in the late 25th century.  He knows all of the tech-heresies and is totally familiar with how backward the Imperium is.  In addition, I want to have huge mech that can transform into a car and a robot on demand and makes cool little sounds.

In addition, my frozen guy knows every spell in the 3.5 Player's Handbookbecause I'm half gnome and half troll named Optimus Prime.

No one is going to argue with my character concept because it's not canonso I'm not only totally magical and mechanical, I exist in a totally different universe.

Shoehorn me in please.  I'm ready to roll my stats.

Now your really using the slippery slope argument here. Also your post is meant to upset, because you yourself are getting upset that people disagree with you. Thats fine, be upset, but please do not add more fuel to the potential flame war. Also thats not shoehorning, that is power gaming, and also mixed systems, and lalalala.

    Have a Nice Day.

I'm not attacking your need to have female space marines, on the contrary I embrace it, I know that some people like it, but we haven't talked about why? Let the creativeness flow and maybe we can get some good stories from it, be it index astartes weird and so on. As for being called a zealot I don't know, I was kinda saying that we should stop shoehorning it into "canon" and instead embrace that it can't be.

Also something I find interesting about this debate, what is the reason for your need to have female space marines, is it that there is a girl in your group that don't feel comfortable with a male role. Or is it that there is something else? Is it the lack of choice, that the option is taken from you by the fluff and so on or maybe roleplaying represents some kind of option for a transgender experience? This is really interesting stuff. What about female orks?

The reverse question goes as well, why not female marines, besides the obvious, its not codex so it can't be argument. Which oddly enough is my reason, both the various index astartes (as part of a series they can be seen as 1 book), the codex and the core book states that only boys get to join the club I like to try and play in the sandbox that I'v been given and instead of breaking the rules or trying to come up with new "fake" rules adapt to the universe, that is part of the fun because each setting has an internal logic to it that if you change it too much (or sometimes even a little) you lose flavour.

Only one real point to make here, that is that the universe is GRIMDARK. That is the flavor to me. You can do a lot of stuff to this universe and still does not lose its flavor. Changing it so that there are FSM is not going to change that Grim and Dark....There is only war...millions die each day so that the billions can live on kind of feel. That at the end of the day your more then likely going to die a horrible death and only your fellows will remember it if they survive.

That is the true essence of the 40K universe. To say that FSM will change that for you is unrealistic. Think about it. Now I will never make the eldar and Humans friends, nor the orks and nids friends. What your saying is that by changing one thing, a small thing really in the grand scheme of things, is like saying because I dip (smokeless tobacco for those in europe...Also for the children dont start the habbit. I am trying to quite.), I am going to do crack tomorrow. The slippery slope illogical argument for those who don't know.

The Rainbow Warriors from Rogue Trader were completely different, focused heavily on las weapons, homeworld was Prism.

Everytime I hear their name I chuckle inside. I know its immature, and their naming came before the great Rainbow marches and such (I think it did at any rate.). I just feel they should be renamed such that they do not get mistaken for...for well... Anyway, I have a friend who made up his own celtic army, heavily based off the Space Wolf codex, perhaps I could get the information from him on them and add them to this list. They are very much Irish and not norse, but the ultramarines and blood angels do not fit them as well as the space wolf codex does.

Ok so now that I'v read the book I just get this debate even less, its stated, several times in this canon work that marines can only be male, its repeated endlessly, the GW guys say it, you cannot force it into a canon setting. So with that done, its over, you can't have you cake and eat it. So end that debate and live with it, if you want to discuss how to develop a non WH40K setting that is very much like 40K, but has female marines, or a reborn emperor or what not then go ahead, talk about it, just don't shoehorn it.

Ok.... I guess you missed the other points. That no game is 100% canon. You can call your game canon, you can praise it for following the story, etc. But unless you know an author for BL or work for GW and have your stuff written into the next space marine codex or what have you, its not going to be canon. Deal with it. Nor should you worry about what other people do in their games, if it does not effect you. Its the whole nerd-rage thing that is keeping you from seeing the truth of the matter. The truth of the matter is, that people will do what they see is best. For you that is 'believing' that your game is canon. For others, the truth is that there are female marines.

The problem is that some of you feel that the Canon is a holy bible, or koran. And Thus are acting like fanatical zealots attacking people for thinking differently than you. Sad isn't it?

So I am going to stop wasting my energy arguing with you gents or ladies. Regardless, have fun with the setting and let people from different gaming groups than your own do their own thing. After all another group of gamers having fun and playing with a female marine in their group normally means more copies of death watch sold. That also means the game can continue on.

  9. Your right, and I have said it earlier in the thread, that I can agree to disagree. I am just pointing out that quoting 'canon' to those, who are like me and do toss somethings out for the sake of having fun, is pointless. That is all I was saying. Also to those who cry Foul, that their beloved game is somehow cheapened by those players who do the hello kitty armies or what have you, should take a breather. I could care less what you do in your games. If your gming something and you think FSM are stupid and heretical. Thats your call, and I (if i happened to be playing your game) could care less. If you wanted to have FSM So that your girl friend or wife could feel better about playing, well thats your call and I could care less.

I know that most of the posters here are mature adults, but....well some of the posters get so upset over the idea its funny. Not the hahaha grandma and grandpa went sky diving, but more like listening to that spoiled brat playing halo and trash talking kind of funny. (which in truth is not funny)

That greater good you speak of smells of foul Tau influence brother! gui%C3%B1o.gif

Though I do agree that the Dark Angel and Space Wolf characters would have to work together just like a Black Templar and any librarian would have to.

Our group has the Dark Angel and Space Wolf together from the Demo adventure Final Sanction.

There were A LOT of great moments between those two characters... most notably try to out-compete each other in acts of bravery, killing, etc.

There was a moment where the player of the Dark Angel assault marine was about to make the killing blow on a rebel officer she was fighting and the space wolf player shot the rebel officer dead.

After the battle was over the Dark Angel walked over to the space wolf and said, "That was MY kill ! "  and socked him in the face. gran_risa.gif

The Space Wolf just grinned and said "We'll settle this later".

Like a True space wolf. We do not fight allies while the enemy is near. Not like that cowardly Primach of the Dark Angels.

But in truth I have always seen the duels (from the space wolf side at least) as more brotherly in nature. I will ways try to out do you. Also only I can punch you in the face, and those chaos scum and xenos better think twice before they try to harm them. After all its Brother against brother, brothers against cousins, and the whole **** family against anyone else.

  11. OH NO! They got us. The horus heresy book says so. Dang... Well I guess i better go tell my Girl Friend that. OH wait...She doesnt care. And nor do I. Well it looks like you were just out voted my friend. Sorry.

See how easy life is when you stop arguing about the small details in life, when instead you should be putting more energy into coming up a Better fantasy setting, or curing world hunger.

    Just a Thought.

Hell, I wanted to be a Dark Angel so I could be quiet and taciturn since I don't like talking too much in RPGs anyway.  But, there's that dumb duel with Space Wolves that made me turn away from them...

I am pretty sure that in the deathwatch they do not duel each other. Why? Because they have bigger fish to fry, also their chapters themselves will deal with duels of honor. For that to make you not play one or the other is dumb. I really dont imagine a DA and SW DW marine fighting before every mission, infact I think they would not talk much to each other.

I say this because you can dislike or even hate one of your squad members, but you can still work with them for the greater good.

  13. I thought about it, but instead I made a Grey hunter who was a part of Engir Kraken Dooms Great Company. Ulric wolfkin. He is a tactical marine with the speciality that he can share his chapter specific squad modes with his allies. I thought about a rune priest or Iron priest, but I was more interested in doing a Wolf priest, however I doubt that they would add Chaplin or wolf priest careers, just because it would be ackward for a Wolf Priest to listen to a Dark Angel confess his sins.

    Hi everybody.

First of all i must apologise for my poor mastery of the english language.

Now I can go to the point.

Lots of topics here deals about usefull things, but some other are just useless and in fact quite boring. Maybe would it be better to ask senible question.

    I explain.

Topics about female SM are sterile yes there's, no there isn't, yes there's, no I said...etc... Quite boring.

If you wanna play female SM do it don't ask about us, it is your game. Yes there's no female SM in the warhammer 40K fluff so if you play by the rules there will be none. But nobody tells you what you have to o with your life at home.

Same about the topics made around the fact that their SM can wear a jump pack (and fly, no not jump... fly), to heavy bolters with all bonuses possible, shoot with each in full-auto mode...etc... Also boring.

You want to play this do it but please don't ask us what we think about it.

we are here to construct a game world, make it better andtry to help each others for the best, not talk about subject that will never give any result. Ask for rules tips or house rules, but please once more don't ask us what we think.

Play, have fun, enjoy your games, they are here for our enjoyment.

Page 171 last sentence in the Astartes Jump Pack description ". . . duplicate Flyer (12) trait for up to a minute . . .."

Hehe...All this did was feed the trolls. And now this will be the neverending post...

  15. Actually you can go into squad mode a head of time with abilities like Tactical Spacing. To say that squad mode only activates during a combat round is not fair to say. A Group of Real Marines moving as a squad are always acting as a squad unless they are told to break off and do some recon ahead of the patrol.

As for the many modifiers...I know that in previous editions of Warhammer 40K Salamanders had a -1 intitive bonus. Which made no sense as they came from a heavier gravity world. Heavier gravity means more muscles, which in a lower grav environment means more speed or strength. So Just go with the +10 total for stat boosts. Sometimes GW does not make any sense.

Your Great Curse is awesome. Thats all I have to say about that. As for the command skill I agree with Kenshin. Make it Charm, its more fitting.

Also your Scales Relic. I think that you should just give the wearer a +10 to parry, instead of a -10 to an enemies WS. I think at that point it gets too powerful. Even a Frost Blade is not that strong.

  16. It states to Split them up among the marines. I believe anyway, I will have to read it and pull the page number for you. But that would 21 Req points per marine as they get a total of 63 if they decide to pull their stuff together. Which makes sense, as what can you get for a total of 63, that you can use as starting low renown character.

  17. I read the first part of the custom chapter. I would edit the part about Garm. As it is a forge world who are under the protection of the Space Wolves. Also the planet was named after Garm, a wolf guard to Leman russ. The Planet was named after him when the Thousand Sons attacked it, and Garm was killed by their evil primarch while defending Leman Russ.

Or just rename the planet completely. Still a slight modification is all that is needed as you mentioned that the Steel Dragoons used horus Heresy era armor.
