That is what I am taking about! You have to let some things roll off your shoulders and in the end this saying holds true to any game.
The GM is the final Say. Its his world, your characters inhabit it.

If your Asking about the Wolf totem from the TT game, its more of a banner. They do not have a Chapter Banner, they do have company ones. The Wolf Totem, is a banner though, on the same scale of a company banner, while the Great company banner is on the power level of the Chapter Banner. Strange I know but there you have it.

One thing I remember Lynata is that GW changes their fluff all the time. ALL THE TIME. No Space wolf has fallen to taint, Fallen to the Curse of the Wulfen, yes. Warp no...
Then we have the tale about the ship taken by chaos because they tainted some space wolves into fighting for them.... Per the newest chaos Codex....
Retcon can you say?
I Justify the higher damage to the fact that more then likely the Space Marine Bolters have ammo that has more charge behind the Bolt round or having a finer purer Charge that burns hot and thus has more force behind it. Otherwise I would go insane trying to figure out which is which in the Grim Dark.

You can take anything you like from it and discard anything you don't, dismissing objections with a wave of his hand, saying "I am the Kwisatz Haderach, that is reason enough." I've presented my interpretation, nothing more, and while I would hope it agrees with the popular view, by no means does that limit your options.
Excellent point. Fine use of that quote. But in the end its the GM's Call. I for one want to link a DW and RT rule sets. Still unsure how to do that. But that is a post for a different thread.

Lone wolves are the last member of a pack, as such they are all alone in the highly social nature of the Space Wolves. While not an outcast, he has no pack. Thus as a way of meeting his brothers in the halls of russ with his head held high, they try to find the biggest and meanest creature or enemy and attempt to kill them in close combat. Most Fail, some succeed. Either way a Mighty saga is written and the individual is seen as a Hero even to the space wolves.
So ****** a woman would not give you the right to become a Lone Wolf. Instead you would be hunted down and killed like the mad dog you are.

It depends, I normally allow 10 rolls, with the players choosing where the points go. This way if you wanted a master swordsmen, but you roll for only a 39 on your 2nd roll, well then you would be screwed. But for point buy, it depends on the player really. Some do min max and make it obvious, which only upsets me.

After reading the CSM Codex and the capture of the Space Wolves frigate, i believe that such combat can be quite profitable. Aquire more ships from puny humans, use said ships to wreck havoc to whole planets. Nothing is more fun to crash a transport vessel onto a planet and then letting the Plasmadrive go overload. What Planetery Fortress, i can only see a crater the size of a country.
Nerd Rage inbound.
That was false Propaganda spread by the Traitors and heretics. That is all I will say on the matter.
/end Nerd Rage
As for Battleships, I believe they serve a better purpose if left solely in the hands of the imperial navy. Players should never get their hands on that type of ship. It just screams abuse, which is what a private party or company would use it for. A Grand Cruiser is just as useful as a flagship.

- If every action has an equal and opposite reaction (at the mechanical level) then surely even though the shooter experiences as much force as the target the shooter does not die because they do not receive the trauma that the traget does. (shooter actually recieves more energy than the target if you consider velocity drop off for air resistance)
Quick point here:
A Pistol or a rifle has a Recoil spring and is Gas operated (a Majority of them). Thus as the propellent propels the round down the barrel, the spring absorbs the force and allows the bolt to slide back, thus ejecting the round from the chamber. After that the spring pops back, using its built up potential energy, pushing the bolt back. Also at this time (in an AK-47 and M-16) the gas travels down the barrel behind the bullet to a small hole and some of it goes back down the hole and tube to end up pushing the bolt back into place along with the Spring. As the bolt slides home, a small claw grabs the next bullet and pulls it into the chamber.
That is the reason your shoulder or hand is not damaged, along with the fact that much of the potential energy from the bullet is focused on a small surface area. The butt of a rifle or hand grip is a much larger surface area and much of the energy that would cause harm is actually used to reload the weapon.
Thank you for your time.

Not that I particularly care if they have a living RPG, but just because you have a bad experience doesn't mean you should prevent other people from doing something that you could easily just not participate in. Maybe tell the people in your town to stop being jerks?
Tried that actually. Rather nicely, as my FLGS owner thought. The issue is that some people do not care if they hog all the tables, are loud, foul mouthed (now I have no issues with language myself, but some of things they say are just...well stupid.) men and women who most likely live in their parents basements. The fact that they disrupt other near by games does not seem to bother them, though it does bother the other players. The Owner would tell them to go somewhere else, but as there is nowhere else he allows them to stay. Personally I thought it was funny when their game master told off some other players, and the other players walked over and picked him up. Took him outside and put the screws to him for a few minutes. The rest of the day was fine.
Of course Our local cop was in the area, and as he knew about the group and he himself, on his off-duty time he was a gamer and so had dealt with the people, he claimed not to see anything but the dude tripping and falling several times while he was drunk. (Funny thing is that the GM was Drunk as they go to Old Chicgo before the game.)

If they ever made a living campaign for DW or one of their other lines of RPG, I would kill it. The reason is that the Living RPG players in my town are completely overbearing and socially uncooth. So I would recommend never even suggesting that.

The problem is, that as space marines (and at times the IG) Spend most of their time in ships traveling around in space they would use more naval terms. Yes I can see some more zealot chapters, like Black Templars, using your terms. Those like the Space wolves most likely use naval terms, as even on their planet most of the tribes men spend alot of time on boats.
So:
Floor= Deck
Wall= Bulkhead
Front of the ship = Bow
etc.
but for the more zealot chapters I will stick to your wordings. I like it better.

And while RT may be overall better written/structured, it doesnt inspire me the same as DH.I've found that - having run all three games now - Rogue Trader is the toughest to get to grips with and the toughest to run, due to sheer scale, but by far the most rewarding when it pays off. I've had plenty of players express scepticism about it initially, because the core theme of the game doesn't click as easily as the investigative horror themes of Dark Heresy or the military/warzone themes of Deathwatch... but once they've seen Rogue Trader in action, they're sold by the idea. It's the hardest sell of the three, but the biggest payoff, IMO.
Having had the opportunity to shape the setting and mechanics for Rogue Trader, I'm extremely excited about how it's going to develop. Into the Storm was great fun to work on and is a really useful supplement, but I don't think it surprised anyone in terms of its content - as a book of character options, there really is only so much you can do with it. Edge of the Abyss and Battlefleet Koronus (and books further down the line), I feel, will actually push the game onwards and provide much more content to be inspired by.
I wholeheartedly agree with you, N0-1. GMing Rogue Trader is honestly one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever encountered during my years of roleplaying. I'll admit, it takes a hell of a lot of work, but the pay-off... no other RPG comes close.
As for the Edge of the Abyss and Battlefleet Koronus content... well, I think you're right there too. The sheer options they'll open up are staggering.
The issue I have were I live is simple. My Friends all hate roll under systems. We only once played DH and they hated the Roll under system. So they never wanted to play RT, and now that DW is out they are thinking about it, but I suspect that they will still hate it because it is Roll Under. So I have to play it Pbp, over the internet, and the thing with RT is that it is Sandbox, or the most likely out of the three to become Sandbox. So Alot of the effort is one the GM Yes. But it Requires that the players also push their characters to make a Story. Sadly when the Captain Stops posting and disappears its harder to recover then in the Real World where I can talk to other players and within 5 minutes have something they all agree on and keep pushing.

Page 335, with the rest of the info on what types of ships the Deathwatch use (almost universally small, fast, agile ships. Proper naval fighting is for the Imperial Navy).
Thanks! I was going nuts skimming for a stat-block. Can some folks post what they came up with?
If you have a RT book, I would stat it up as a modified Firestorm class. most likely with Wolf in sheep's clothing or Air of the Imperium or something like that.
As for its Machine Spirit...Most likely: Ancient and wise; Adventurous; or A nose for Trouble.

I would like to slightly change that central statement of yours:"...but the fact remains that within the confines of the official 40K Universe, they simply are not known to exist."
No. Do not exist.
There is no wiggle room.
BYEDude you have made yourself known to have that opinion in every post. We get it...if your not going to say how it can be done then go make a thread and post your opinion there so I dont have to come across it. Because I am starting to think that your a child, which I know isnt right and I Apologize, but that is the mental image I am forming of you.
Thanks

There are arguments on both sides but personally I'm going to leave them in. If you have PC space marines without progenoids then you can't have desperate struggles to recover a fallen brothers body against overwhelming odds.
True, so very True.

I would think that the Blood Ravens would make an excellent plot device for a campaign. The stories for their Chapter Master being corrupted by Chaos and their possible Thousand Suns origins are pretty cool.

Sorry to hear that man. I myself have been beaten, kicked around, and otherwise oppressed. Why, Because I was a military brat who was raised in the country offbase. So I supposed to be Richer, have the nikes, dress a certain why, etc. However my father never believed in spending 100 dollars for a pair of shoes, or pants or what have you. I was also kicked around because I hung out with people from a different race. I am conservative, however I was raised with only seeing monochromatic. My father punched me so hard when he heard me say a racist thing, my parents raised me to see that Race is pointless because we all bleed red and have the same hopes and dreams. We are all Homo Sapians. (As such I refuse to answer the race question, if pushed I answer with that I am Human and a Proud U.S. Citizen)
I also spent time in the military and was accused of being a skinhead by one of my sgt. who made fun of me because I couldnt tan, had shaved my head bald, and was blue eyed. He however was not accused of anything for having a tattoo on his forearms that said , "100% N...." you get the idea. Still I never said anything about it and months later he went UA (unauthorized Absence or like Awol for the army, Away without leave) Robbed an armored car and shot one of the guards.
My Point is it goes both ways. I plan on raising my son the same way my father did, we are human, and as such you treat them how you want to be treated.

thats good news i wonder if there is a rpg shop at kandahar? as thats where i'll be most that period

im sure if able and if allowed we might come to an agreement on purchasing and shipping one over if needed.

I know that Amazon ships to US Units in other countries with no extra cost. I had some WW products shipped to me while I was over there. (almost 4 years ago now.) So I would imagine that they will do the same for our English brethern in other units.

If your referring to the Model for Canis Wolfborn, the I will say that it is a terrible model. As for the proposed wolf novel cover, I thought they looked more like lions. Still if you look at the art from the Space Wolf codex, they are canine in appearance, cept for that one gay model. It looks like a giant rat.

Actually my parents are great. School of hard knocks, which means phyiscal punishment was the norm for me. Though as I got older my dad got more creative in his punishments. Hell I live on a Ranch, just think of the stupid **** he had me doing. Now as far as in the 'dont do as I act' my parents in my memory have never done anything that went against what they told me to do. Sure I have done stupid ****, but I have learned from my mistakes.
With that said, I think you need to just look at some religions through the ages. Catholic church about a 1000years ago, Islam now, Herbrews before all that. 2000 years ago Hebrews still used to stone women and treated outsiders terribly. Even christians nowdays do stupid things. Look at that one dude that wanted to burn the KOran. Love your neighbor, unless he is different still goes around.

As the others said it depends on the chapter. That said, War is not a clean cut business. Even in modern day war, these types of things happen. I have never understood why someone in modern day war would be charged and convicted. Most of the time they are not, especialy in the circumstances warrent caution. For instance, I for one would either throw a grenade in or flame the room first if no one answered my call.
"Identify yourselves?"
No reply back.
Pull pin and toss grenade or stick flamer in the door way and roast whatever is in it.
"Room is clear on towards the next."
A space wolf may be upset, but he may see them as weak willed fools who did not do their emperor given job against Heretics and oathbreakers.
