I win a challenge with Syrio Forel and my opponent (who is the first player) plays A Lannister Pays His Debts killing Syrio. At this point can I activate Syrio's response and return him to the shadows before he goes to the death pile?

Normally I would say no, but shadow mechanic maybe works different in this case...

Well, ktom lastly said that it's strange to treat "leaving play to shadows" different gui%C3%B1o.gif

Maybe FAQ should be updated to read:

Out of play states are the dead pile, the discard pile, a player’s hand, a player’s deck, and shadows area.

Does Margaery blank even the traits?

No. FAQ says that card abilities refers to anything in a card's text box, except for traits, keywords, and flavor text.

These helper texts (e.g.  "Limit 1 Limited Response per round." can make more confusion than helping. But that's my private opinion.

Or is it a player's responsibility to keep track on their own?

That would be crazy. Players can't hide hands.

    Arcaine said:

Also what happens if, in a melee game, more than one player has the same number of cards.

Nothing. "Most" should be read literally.

    Arcaine said:

If Stark plays Valar Morghalis, can I immediately kneel a point of influence to move the poisoned wine from Renly to Robert, thus saving the poisoned wine card from being discarded?

No. Look at the plot phase chart in FAQ. "Any phase" action can be played only in "Player actions" window.

If you had to wait until they were physically removed from the table and the actual card was in the dead pile, you'd never be able to use The Titan's Bastard's "return to hand" effect

    "Aegon's Hill" gui%C3%B1o.gif

You are right of course. It's just so convenient to treat Titan's ability like it was designed to respond to physically placing a card in pile. (I think this card is the only one example of such action.)

    1. I'm assuming this means "Others" is a trait

    Correct.

    Dimlhugion said:

    2. Is it like an "If statement" in computer programming where the "If condition" must be true before the effect initiates?

    Yes.

    Dimlhugion said:

    3. Stormlands Fiefdoms - since it states "Baratheon CARD" as opposed to Great Hall's "Baratheon CHARACTER," does this mean (assuming the first copy came into play on a prior round) you could activate Stormlands to play a second copy of Stormlands for free?

    Correct.

    Dimlhugion said:

    4. Ser Davos Seaworth - suppose I activate his saving response, and then someone else responded by canceling the ability. If I'm understanding the rules correctly, the "THEN" word means paying 1 gold or returning him to my hand is conditional upon the save resolving successfully. In which case, I wouldn't end up doing either of those things since the save itself was cancelled. True / False?

    True.

    Dimlhugion said:

    5. Working off of #4, I would not be allowed to then "re-activate" Davos's save against the ORIGINAL event causing him to be killed, correct?

    Yep. Only once per trigger.

    Dimlhugion said:

However, if a DIFFERENT event initiates within the same window prior to the ORIGINAL even resolving, and this new event would ALSO cause Davos to be killed, would I then be allowed to trigger his save against the NEW event?

Prior? You cannot go back to the previous "save" opportunity, if I'm understand your question.

    Dimlhugion said:

And if that's the case, and I choose upon successful resolution to return him to my hand, would that mean the original killing event no longer affects Davos, as he is no longer "in play" to be killed?

Aside from above part: if Davos is returning to hand, then he cannot be killed again ("Rules Exception", page 15 FAQ).

    Dimlhugion said:

    6. Was Robert Baratheon ever errata'd to be a "King" instead of a "Lord?"

No. That version is not a king. BTW click the link in my signature to find more kings and queens.

    Dimlhugion said:

    7. Counting Favors - does this count towards the "3 draw cap" limit?
    Yep.

    Dimlhugion said:

    8. Maester Aemon - suppose I had a duplicate of him in play. If I activate his response and it gets canceled, could I then "activate" the duplicate in response to the original killing event?

Yes, you could, that's different response.

    Dimlhugion said:

    9. If a card originally has a keyword like Stealth, but something like Arya removes it, BUT you then give the card stealth from another source, does it "net sum" to the character having Stealth (+2 Stealth -1 Stealth = +1 Stealth)?

Yes. BTW See the thread "Arya Stark vs Euron Crow's Eye" below this one.

    Dimlhugion said:

For that matter, do keywords stack (like with Renown, would it be possible to throw Aegon's Blade on Daenerys and claim 2 power)?

    No.

    Dimlhugion said:

    10. Does that mean I could have her discarded on an Intrigue and/or Westeros Bleeds, and then play a fresh copy from my hand on my next Marshal?

Yep, unless you have a card with same title in dead pile.

    Dimlhugion said:

    11. Also, with a unique NON-character card like Aegon's Blade, can those be "duplicated" as well? Could I have 3 Aegon's Blades stacked on top of my Jhogo (only the first one would "count" for bonuses, of course, but I mean could I physically have it happen legally if I wanted to)?
    Correct.

    Dimlhugion said:

    12. How does Icy Catapult work?

Just like any other response. Remember that a Moribund card is considered to have left play but is physically still in play and retains its abilities (including attachments and their abilities) and is allowed to interact with the game as normal until it is finally (and physically) placed in the discard/dead pile or returned to hand/deck during Step 6 of the action window. FAQ page 15.

    Dimlhugion said:

    13. Sansa Stark - suppose I control her and someone ELSE attaches something to her. Can THEY activate her response themselves, or is it up to ME as Sansa's controller to choose whether they get the extra draw?

    It's up to you.

    Dimlhugion said:

    14. Drunken Allegations - can the chosen players kneel ANY character on the board, so long as they are standing? Or does it have to be a character they control?
    Any character.

    Dimlhugion said:

    15. Bronn - Since it doesn't actually use the word "Save" anywhere, I'm assuming by the time you get to the "Save / Cancel" step in an action window, it's too late to activate him, correct?

    Yes.

    Dimlhugion said:

However, I'd also take that to mean you could "pre-emptively" use his ability on as many targets as you can afford, even before a single challenge is initiated, and he'll wind up "saving" each of them in turn so long as he was kneeling prior to each "kill effect" being resolved. Yes / No?
Yes, as long as you can pay by standing Bronn. BTW you can play his ability on Bronn as well.

    Dimlhugion said:

    16. (last one for now, I promise) During Setup, as I understand it, you're only allowed to "place" 5 gold worth of characters or locations (or attachments that say you can use them during setup, assuming you also place legal targets for them). Is that 5 gold limit imposed after taking "reductions" like those found on King Joffrey's Guard into account, or is it strictly based on the actual gold cost printed on the card?

You can't use King Joffrey's Guard gametext, because the game didn't started yet, so you don't control any character (king).

  5. Arcaine said:

Does this mean that when Valar Morghalis is played just the top copy of the duplicate is killed?

That depends what you mean happy.gif. Usually the bottom card is attached as a duplicate, and you can discard it (as a triggered “Response:”) to save top card from killing. So, yes, only the top copy is about to kill, but eventually it stays on table and the bottom one is discarded. I hope it is clear happy.gif

  6. Twn2dn said:

I keep forgetting whether "no attachments" is considered an immunity.

Immunity must contain word "immune" (otherwise it would be hard to say what is and what is not, I think)

    Twn2dn said:

Also, is "no attachments" considered a keyword?

Core set rules contain it in a list of keywords, so yes.

I have harder one happy.gif: is "Wharf Rats cannot be killed" considered a keyword?

  7. I think such FAQ would be a very good idea. We might ask FFG to make such topic "sticky". Official FAQ is too short and it surely doesn't meet my expectations ("If there is a tie between the attacking and defending STR in a challenge, who wins that challenge?" Come on! Are there no better questions?).

Besides FFG could use it in future and include to official FAQ.

  8. ktom said:

Sorry if I came on a little strong with the original answer.

    No, not at all.

I think that flow charts of the phases were added much later than basic rules, and thus the lack of precision.

Unless it is a prove that there should not be player action window before revealing plots - but that would be conspiracy theory happy.gif

  9. "Response: After you win dominance, kneel 2 standing Ironborn characters to choose and stand a HG Lord or Lady character. Then, that character claims 2 power and you draw 2 cards."

Can I stand character which was knelt to pay the cost?

EDIT: Yes, that works just fine. Checked tzumainn.com too late.
