  1. Rozy said: 1. If Maester of the Sun is kneeling and I lose a MIL challenge I think due to his Vengeful I will be able to stand him and save someone for claim right? No. Standing because of vengeful happens after claim. See framework action in FAQ. Claim is step 2 and vengeful is passive (after step 4).Rozy said: 2. If I use Maester of the Suns ability to discard Darkstar (PotS) during Valar he will come to the game after the Valar so he does not have do die right? That's interesting. Darkstar comes to play after initiation of Valar but before its resolution. I think he doesn't die but waiting for ktom's answer.Rozy said: 3. If 2 is correct then this has propably no point, but still...I could use the same ability: Maester to discard Darkstar if Darkstar is already in play to have a dupe on him right? So do I save all character at once or one after an other, because if the second is true then I save someone and dupe Darkstar and can save Darkstar now... Yes, duplicates can be put into play and responses are played one after another.Rozy said: 4. When I use When I Woke...on The Viper's Bannermen I first "draw" 2 cards and then put them on the top of my deck right? Correct. Bannermen goes to deck at the end of challenge.Rozy said: 5. Is Red Viper(PotS) immune to attaching He Calls It Thinking since he is immune to event or will it become attachement before it is attached? Is he also immune to Someone Always Tells since it is not targeting him directly, I think he is. It will become attachment before it is attached. Yes, he is definitely immune to Someone Always Tells, cause it tries to return him to hand.
  2. ktom said: So you see, there is a lot more practical support for the "attach to X" text being read and interpreted from the non-active, continuous requirement point of view than from the active "initiate, resolve, forget" point of view. Agree. But designers must be aware that it's source of confusion? "Attach Black Raven to your House card and discard all other Raven attachments from play." So, if it is constant effect, then if I play White Raven, the first player should tell which attachment is discarded. Also "Attach to an opponent's character, then draw a card." reads a little weird.
  3. ktom said: Nope. Including Shadows.Let's say that you have a dupe and an attachment on Syrio Forel. You win a challenge with him and decide to use his ability to send him back into Shadows. Are you saying that the attachment and dupe will not be discarded? What would happen to them instead when Syrio leaves play and goes into Shadows? Oh my, I'm sorry, I was thinking that you can't discard dupe to save character from returning to shadows. Sorry for confusion.
  4. ktom said: It must always be true, not just when playing the card from your hand. Hmm... I remember talking here about Motley and my first thought was "discard, cause no longer meets restrictions". But: First there is distinction between "... only" and "attach to ...". Second, with text like "Attach to an opponent's location. Kneel that location." that part about kneeling works only at the moment of playing the attachment, right? And third, Taxed Dry "Attach to an opponent's income providing card." and "If it is Winter, attached card does not provide an income bonus." So if it is winter that attachment is automatically discarded if ktom's right. And that would be a little strange.
  5. ktom said: if you decide not to, or are in some sort of a "cannot be saved" situation Yeah, I didn't think about that. ktom said: the same things always happen whenever a card leaves play - regardless of where it ends up. Except Shadows.
  6. chrassos said: when i have a unique char with a dupe and an effect forces me to take this char to my hand, what goes in my hand? the char, the dupe, both??? I don't know, because normally you want to save the character from being returned to hand by discarding the dupe
  7. Stag Lord said: they can't come back from restes. Stark is my favorite deck and I rely on "stalwart". All I hear is Stark is the worst house, so it worries me that in next CP we will have Septon Cellador (Any phase: kneel Septon Cellador to shuffle any player's deck). Stag Lord said: I bet they're getting a Blackfish back soon and that he will help. That would be wonderful, but if this happen, then I guess it will be new card not reprint.
  8. JerusalemJones said: One of the things they initally announced in regards to the LCG format was that the wouldn't do reprints of the Chapter Packs. Asylum packs are being reprinted. If people want to buy, why not to reprint? JerusalemJones said: I hope that they put off rotation for a long time. Proper design of the cards will help ensure there isn't a need for rotation, and the larger sets every six months might allow for balance for new player to work against older cards. I agree absolutely. Besides LCG philosophy is different. You must buy Core Set, so rotation would be silly (CS excluded).
  9. BrooklynMike said: - Say I have put a duplicate or a bodyguard on Red Viper and he gets killed. I can remove the Bodyguard to save him, but does this count has him being killed anyway and trigger his effect? Nope. Any effect saved or canceled is not executed (so kill didn't happen). BTW what's the point to write "(cannot be saved)" on cards like Bodyguard?
  10. ktom said: It is a consistent ruling from FFG, though. Ok then. I'm glad that sajuhl1987 asked this question - we have small number of characters with immunity, so such situations don't happen very often. Although in CCG era probably there was more such characters and questions about this. So, it would be nice to have it in FAQ.
  11. ktom said: Power on a character is considered a characteristic/stat of the character Is this in FAQ? I thought that power/gold token on character is no different than attachment on character. Besides, Mel seems to me like changing game rule: Power thus claimed is put on the character instead of the House card. This counts towards your 15 power victory total Similar like Mance Rayder turns on new rule: Power on Kingdom locations counts towards their controller's victory total.
  12. sajuhl1987 said: I think it is a passive char ability and that chars with immjunity can still count their power I think immunity has nothing to do with this. Melisandre does not allow a player (not a character) to count these tokens of power.
  13. Pedro Lunaris said: "Response: After a card is placed in an opponent's dead pile, return The Titan's Bastard to its owner's hand." This ability works if The Titan's Bastard is at the dead pile? This question appeared when I played the "Valar Morghulis" plot. Titan's Bastard was in play, and my friend playing tthe Targaryen deck asked if this situation didn't triggered the Response. It seemed to me that this Response could only be triggered if Titan's was in play, and the dead pile is not considered "in play". But, on the other hand, Titan's ability doesn't states anything about where the Titan's must be to trigger this response... First, remember that response is always optional. No card ability works if card is not in play (unless otherwise specified e.g. "Forever burning")
  14. Forgot to say that it's necessary to find also second combination of words (i.e. location%discard).
  15. Pedro Lunaris said: if an effect states that it aplies to the "beggining of the dominance phase", than it would apply before dominance is resolved? Correct. The same with "out of shadows" effect. Artemis said: Are there some cards which can destroy/discard locations? BTW The quickest way to find such cards is to write "discard%location" as a search phrase. This works at tzumainn.com as well as at my site. At my site, after you get search results, you can also use browser quick search (slash key) to highlight and quickly find the string you are interested.
  16. Lavinia said: but should I just keep them? Yes! Lavinia said: Am I allowed to use more than one copy to make my decks, as long as there isn't >3 of one card? Correct. No more than 3 copies (by card title) in draw deck. Lavinia said: are triplicates allowed? Yes. Although its rare thing in this game - players usually do not include unique character more than x1, because of limited draw and dead pile rules. That doesn't apply to locations or attachments.
  17. october said: So the total STR of my participating characters, and I can trigger it when attacking or defending. Correct? Yes. (Of course it's a response to challenge resolution, so any characters excluded before resolution don't count.)
  18. october said: The card reads "After you win a challenge and count 8 or more total STR..." - what exactly does "count X total STR" mean? Is that just the total STR of my characters, regardless of whether they are participating or standing? It's total attacking/defending STR.
  19. Check website in my signature. You can see there what cards you get in each expansion (quantity is in last column).
  20. Toqtamish said: I was not sure if it was just based on printed STR or not. Ok. If a card/rule doesn't say "printed STR", then it's always current STR. Toqtamish said: Ser Ilyn Payne's ability to kill a character in the marshalling phase. Can that be used during the marshalling phase that he is brought into play during ? Yes. The same with reducing cost locations.
  21. Toqtamish said: 1) With an attached location like Lord Eddard's Chambers and Queen Cersei's Chambers can I kneel those locations to pay influence costs still ? Yes. The type of card (be it attachment, location or character) doesn't matter. Toqtamish said: 2) When counting STR for dominance phase would an effect like Winterfell Castle that gives all my Stark characters +1 STR be counted for ? Yes, why not? It gives +1 as a constant effect. There is no condition to meet ("during challenges" for example).
  22. zarius said: And if no one of that ravens come into play it's considered not winter and not summer? Yep. zarius said: And if one comes and later is killed? If it is discarded, then again, no winter / summer.
  23. JBC said: The question is, when Jhogo is returned what happens to the attachment? I ruled that it was discarded because the character goes back to the hand Correct. When card leaves play its attachments are discarded. Just remember that owner of "Snowed under" must choose one of his card too at the beginning of the standing phase.
  24. zarius said: During a challenge between 2 players who aren't me, can I play events that affect them or their characters? Yep.
  25. rC() said: If i have copies of a card like 'Milk of the Poppy' from the Iron Legacy Pack, are they legal to use in LCG play since it was reprinted in the AGoT Core Set? CCG cards that have identicals stats, icons, and game text as the LCG version can be used at an LCG event. If the stats, icons, or game text have been updated for the LCG, the original CCG card cannot be used.
