I'm in Roseburg. I hosted a small but fun Fellowship 2106 Event sponsored by Hero's Haven.
-
Does anyone have a link or know the name of the font for AHLCG (assuming it exists)?

Link for the Fellowship 2016 event in Roseburg, Or on 11/13/2016. We have 2 sets of mats and cards remaining. If interested, please contact me via the FB event page.

...I am a little curious if you are only permitted to stop rolling after you have rolled the white tree, as the review implies and you have to keep rolling regardless putting aside results until you roll the last die. I hope the box size isn't very big as I am running out of space on my games shelf and from the picture it's looking like a standard size.
Once a player sets aside the White Tree, he cannot roll or set aside any more dice for the duration of his turn. A player is allowed to set aside die prior to setting aside the WT, too. If a Nazgul comes up, it MUST be set aside before the WT.
You could choose not to set it aside and reroll it after setting all other die.
-
That about the White Tree. In the rules "The White Tree is only found on the black die", but on the picture I see it on both the green and blue dice. What is right - picture or text?
The White Tree is indeed only found on the black die.

Last years the szenario could be played by 1-4 players. So if you want to bring 4 players to the table make the kit holding stuff for 4 players.
this year the szenario has an epic multiplayer. You need 3 copies of the szenario and a minimum of 3 players to play in this mode = kit holds stuff for 3 players.
Makes complete sense. Thanks for the reply, JanB.

Anyone know why they are only including enough for 3 players per kit this year instead of 4, as in previous years?

Hey, everyone! There's an event this Saturday at Portland's Guardian Games from 1pm - 6pm.
Players will get a custom playmat and custom art Dain Ironfoot. There will be a drawing for the 2013 Khazad-Dum playmat and Shadows of Mirkwood nightmare decks. Come one, come all! New players of all types welcome! Come join the tales and merrymaking this Saturday!
P.S. There will be a $10 participation fee.
P.P.S. You will get far more value than that. Hope to see you there

I'm with you on his ability, but even the Gandalf hero only has 3 for all his stats. IMO, Saruman shouldn't be a hero card based on his character but if he was, I'd wager his stats at W: 2, A: 4, D: 3. Some might argue that his will should be higher because his strength was the ability to control one's mind but that would translate to attack.
Saruman: NeutralThreat 15
W: 3
A: 5
D: 2
HP: 5
Once per round, exhaust Saruman to take control of a non-unique enemy in the staging area. That enemy leaves the staging area and enters your play area. The enemy has 0 willpower. Return it to the staging area at the end of the refresh phase. If Saruman readies, return the enemy to the staging area immediately.

I'll claim #2 and we'll see what happens
I have 2 cycles worth of packs to open so this should be a hardcore, down and dirty learning session. -
3 hours south so I'll have to see if I can get the time off. Thanks for the heads up

From Portland to Medford along I-5, are there any stores running the event?

What's the selling point to a local FLGS to run such an event when they don't sell the LotR LCG product? I offered to pay for the kit and run the event but was told he wasn't interested. This is a shop I've frequented for over 25 years.

"The Damage deck included in this box replaces the Damage deck included in the original X-Wing core set. If players have both, they should use the new deck included in this box."
In that case they better start selling the new damage deck separately.
I may be proven wrong but I don't believe that will ever happen.
I also think people are making a much bigger deal out of this than it really is. It's probably a byproduct of people feeling "forced" to purchase a new Core set to get the new damage deck in order to play competitively (at least at bigger events) in the future. My question is: Why wouldn't someone want to buy at least one new Core set anyway?
I'm a patient man and I'm not really too worried about it, but, it's not so much about being "forced" into buying one but my wife and I play and it would mean buying two MORE sets we don't really want just to play competitively. I know enough about board game printing to know that most of the components in the box are manufactured by different companies. (ie, carboard printed at company A, dice made at company B ...) So I wouldn't see it as too much trouble to just get company C who prints the cards to ship the new damage decks for individual sale like they did with the dice.
At least, that's the reasonable thing to do if it becomes a mandatory rule at some future point.
I understand your position, but the stats for the ships have changed so why wouldn't you want to upgrade your collection? For instance, the First Order TIE gets a shield and the T-70 was boosted a shield and the boost action

No. It would not be a better game. See the failures of Attack Wing for reference.
Come on, it can always be a better game. There is a reason "second editions" are released, with reviewed rules.
But don't worry, before more white knights come bashing, I'm not proposing a reset of the game (your dozens of minis are safe). I'm just proposing some kind of "lessons to be learned after 3 years of X-Wing".
If you've ever played Star Trek: Attack WIng, having pilots separate from ship cards is a hinderance. More cards to deal with and the faction "pure" vs "for gameplay" crowd divided the community, imo. Sure you could have a rule that restricted federation captains to federation ships, but that's not the case. I agree that having fused the pilot/ship cards and chits not only streamlined that aspect of the X-Wing game, but indirectly adheres the community.

My supervisor pulled me aside today and told me how I didn't get back to the post office in time and that I'm a poor performer. He said that he needed me to have an 8 hour day today and since I've gone over 8 hours every day I've been on my route, and that I'm a poor performer. He said that I put him in a 'pickle' and I started laughing. And it made him angry that I was laughing so it was even funnier to me. We got into a discussion about how I took too many stops to urinate while doing my route.
He then asked me if I liked working at the post office. I told him that it's alright. He then asked me if I cared about my job and I started laughing again and he threw his hands up in the air and said, "I guess you don't care!".
I truly couldn't help laughing and if I had a choice in the matter I wouldn't have, but it was nice to inadvertently defeat someone's efforts like that.
Is it true that they time you guys on your route and count your steps? Also, where do you even find restrooms? In our residential neighborhood, you'd have a ways to go to find a restroom open to the public. And isnt there a limit for mileage on the vehicle?
Just curious!
The USPS has a program called DOIS. They input the count for all types of mail on a given route and DOIS gives them an estimated route delivery time. It's usually incorrect as most management fudge the numbers to appease their boss so the DOIS estimate is skewed light. By the way, it makes an estimate on a perfect delivery day which doesn't include customer contact, customer service issues, signature capture pieces, traffic, bathroom stops, donning rain gear, phone calls from school, spouse, etc when problems arise. We carriers give our own estimate, which is the only one that matters, but DOIS is their preferred method of estimation.
No, they don't count our steps but with our GPS scanning devices, they have real-time updates on our positions, rate of speed and actvity at all times. As for mileage, each route has a set mileage but there is usually a 1-2 mile forgiveness.

I deliver mail for the United States Postal Service.
Yes! I knew I'd find a fellow letter carrier eventually

Sadly I'm down in Roseburg with 2 regular players. We're close to running some game nights at our local shop, as well. It's hard to find LotR fans interested in the game at least as far as deck-building is concerned. Another with new players is the number of expansions; it's daunting for them to think how much of an investment it is to get current.

LEGA has it right. The shadow pool is capped at 4 per phase. The shadow card you mention would be better played at the beginning of Stage 2 to grab a boost to the pool.
-
I looked at ebay and refined my search for "completed items only". Some have gone for $5. I think it's something you will have to do a daily search and grab a cheap one when it pops up.
I did find them at FairyGlen for msrp.

I am spearheading a SW LCG community and will be getting my retailer to pick this up. I'm running a demo this Friday and if I can promote a game night with this kit, that will be all the better!

[So. Oregon] Fellowhip Event 2017 is upon us!
in Player community
Posted · Edited by gamestar10
I ran a small event last year that included myself and two other players. I would love to do this again for Fellowship 2017 but need to know any interest before asking my FLGS to order the kit(s). Anyone interested can contact me here via PM.
- Fee will be $20/person
- Will be held in Roseburg, Or (site/date TBD)
Info on the kit can be found here:
