  1. The Rhymer build is 42 points though And I'm not a fan of running more that 3 TIEs without Howl.
  2. With a Rhymer alpha strike come in slow turn 1 then fast turn 2 so you are in range for your shot. Also helps to have Howlrunner with Squad Leader to give him his target lock if you are facing Biggs so you don't get stuck targetting the wrong guy. I've found Rhymer with 2 APTs pretty devastating and have 90% of the time gotten off both shots too. I've never gotten a second shot with Rhymer when he has two APTs. He draws WAY too much fire. And at a whopping 41 points if one dies in the tube, I'm pretty screwed. Have you flown him with a pilot that has Draw Their Fire to keep crits off of him? I have a Rhymer list where he comes in at 40 points and he has a Black Tie wingman (not the card) who's there to eat crits. I have not. Might give it a shot, but I'm skeptical that dumping more points into getting him to work will pay out.

  4. I find ptl + APT to be underwhelming for its point cost. Also if you end up in range 3 for the first round of combat, Rhymer ofter doesn't get a chance to fire it all.
  5. Because predator works on both attacks of a cluster missile, ptl only helps one of them. Also predator does gimp the dial next turn.
  6. I find it hard to fit Rhymer and Jonus in a squad I like for a 100 points. Does your squad use 4 bombers?
  7. I've never understood putting a homing missile on him. You're paying 5 points for an ability to use a thing you spent another 5 points to get an extra die vs not using it once.
  8. When I got my first bomber, I thought Major Rhymer's ability was awesome. After trying to build squads around him for half dozen games or so I decided he's not worth the points. I've never had any success that warranted his high cost. But now that Predator has been spoiled I have hope: Major Rhymer (26) + Predator (3) + Cluster missiles x2 (8) For 37 (33 if you drop the 2nd missile) points, you can chuck a cluster missile at range 3 and modify both attacks. Against the most popular rebel pilots, rookies and blues, it's like having Jonus next to you for a mere 3 points. With Jonus based 3 bomber squads, I've killed quite a few xwings with one ships in one round, so I'm looking forward to trying this out when.
  9. Uh, Y-wings? Y-wings can fix that with a one point upgrade to get almost an interceptor level of greens.
  10. This would be a fun squad against a Falcon list: Rex with HLC and Predator 2x Royal Guards with veteran instincts and stealth The guard strip shields and then Rex unloads an uber-crits-cannon.
  11. Or 70% of a Howl swarm, at least. True, but on the plus side it doesn't lost it's offensive buff for everyone when a ship dies.
  12. Not that I think it would be the most effective squad, but: 5x Green squad + refit + predator would fire like a howl swarm.
  13. So does that trigger when you're outside of the forward firing arc? I know in the FAQ for Backstabber it says his ability triggers when he is outside the "printed firing arc", but on the YT the 360 arrow representing the 360 arc is printed on the base too. Which do they mean? I assume the same rules apply to Outmaneuver as well. If you read the rules that came with the Falcon, it says it's primary weapon can fire outside its firing arc. It's firing arc is limited, not 360.
  14. The trick with lower PS bombers is to make sure that on the first round of combat you will be able to TL. It works well with cluster missiles, but if you're trying to fire a concussion missile it is harder because your targets may move into range 1.
  15. FFG currently has the Transport listed as May and the Tantive listed as quarter 2.
  16. I've always thought that the Falcon title should let you use a different dial, making you pay a few points for that insane white 1 turn on a large ship.
  17. Could shred target locks, might not let the attacker spend focus
  18. Am I the only one who thinks asking FFG to give out a free damage deck is dumb? Granted, a deck of 17 mini cards should be cheap, but then why can't we just buy them ourselves? I'm pretty sure that everyone who plays this game seriously spends at least 50 bucks on each wave, what's wrong with asking like 5 bucks more for an expansion?
  19. 4 agility dice isn't scary though. Especially when the ship is so fragile with just 2 shields and 2 hull. At times I t will be elusive but other times it will drop like a rock. That's a lot of points to invest in such a fragile ship. 4 dice with multiple focus tokens will very rarely "drop like a rock". It will roll more than 2 evades on average.
  20. Isn't that what they do to use their hyperdrive and then for combat they open?
  21. As written, they would be less effective against higher PS ships because they could use their action to turn the weapons back on before firing. Also, I think this idea is really powerful, probably too powerful to be made into a card.
  22. Why would you use marksmanship on Katarn? Crits are nowhere near that valuable, and you're better off with an insane stack of focus for defense. 'd
  23. Tarn Mison. That's why. Maybe . . . Maybe But I just find it odd that they would write it as such to include a single pilot whose ability is much better suited to the generic R7, and has no particular synergy with an EPT.
  24. I wouldn't go as far as calling it unfair, but a PS3 Defender with an EPT would give a certain kind of symmetry. But it also worth considering that the droid is unique, so the Ewing will probably not get a truly generic EPT.
  25. True. I'll just rephrase it to this: The Only rebel PS3 pilot we have, has an EPT. This would indicate that the likelihood of another Rebel PS3 pilot having an EPT slot is higher than not. The droid was phrased as not working for pilots with PS 2 or lower. I don't see why they wouldn't make it 3 or lower unless the Ewing needs it to have a cheaper EPT slot.
