Well, I guess it's an interaction that developers must have overlooked (like *too* many others).
Well, first if you want that to happen, you have to mix two different expansions- which is something I never recommend to do, since it dilutes the atmosphere a lot.
Aaaanyway: Just think of it thematically: a "storm of spirits" is supposed to summon -well- a storm of spirits. So the reason you use Lore instead of fight is that probably you just try to control the spirits as better as you can in order to wipe your opponent off. So, if "revelation of scripts" is supposed to temporarily improve your understanding of forgotten knowledge, so that be.

Yeha, I like Jenny too.
I always loved drawing her, though her Speed of 3 is quite a pain in the a**.
That's why I never fancied healing her

Mt favourite strategy is immediatly getting a bank loan (which she can't fail to pay), and then storming the shops until she gets an Elder Sign or any movement-boosting item (or a Shotgun).
Ah, dear dear dear Jenny

-
If you read the rules carefully on the very last page, they say that
Evade, Combat, Horror and Spell checks are a special type of skill checks, which can be boosted by using certain items (dark cloak, rifle, cross and such). Since Clue tokens can be used for skill checks, they work with Spacial Skil checks too.

I don't have Dark Pharaoh at grasp's reach, but if its description reads "ANY PHASE", then you can cast it in combat. Since it doesn't require hands, I guess it might sound a bit broken- probably an unwanted (untested?) side effect.
But since the Dark Pharaoh is the only possible monster to require Lore instead of Fight, and since he's an easy kill anyway, I guess using such spell wouldn't unbalance a game, after all.

As other people said, playing solo is a bit "sad", but can be fun sometimes.
I remember doing it twice:
the first time I was just curious to see whether it would work or not, and how funny. It worked fine- it's just an alternative to spending 3 hours playing with your PC or videogame consolles.
The second time I just WANTED to find any alternative to studying for a huge and boring examination I had to take a University: so I set up a 4 hours solo game, and still don't regret doing so (yeh, I managed to graduate 6 monthslater
).In any case, you can't get a "full" gaming experience by playing solo: you'll be missing all the laughing, cursing and chilling out that only good friends can yield!
Just one thing: playing 1 or 2 investigators is pointless: it's frustrating and just leads to the final battle.
Pick 3 or 4 and you'll have all the fun

Tell you what: I never minded Gloria much: I always found her a nice and enjoyable character, and among the best gate-closers ever.
Her Special Ability always helps her, and she often returns to Arkham more powerful (item-wise or health-wise) than before entering.
And talking about Minh: well, since gaining Allies is somehow easy (a bit of luck in some locations, or just spend trophies at Ma's), She's basically more powerful than anybody else: +1 to any check is A LOT: allows her to fight just about everything more efficiently than she actually deserves to, no mention that she can roll high Luck in encounters while still having a good Lore.
I can say in my opinion that Minh, Daisy and Patrice are the three WORST characters I ever saw: just too broken to play.
I'd just give them to players at theirvery first Arkham Horror experience, so that they don't get too traumatized.
While I could easily rule Minh's Ally-related ability to grant her just a +1 Focus, I wouldn't like playing her anyway: her portrait is probably the most plain-looking I ever saw (oh well, actually I think it struggles with Daisy "Rabbitface" Walker).
Really, how am I supposed to play an Investigator which I try avoiding to look at just because its (yeah: "its") portrait sucks SO much? I'd rather playing a black monopoly pawn.
(by the way, sorry if I screwed up the sentence above: I'm not a native English speaker you know
) -
Well, I've always been comparing Vincent to Carolyn.
His Special ability is, *of course*, less useful than Carolyn's: healing Stamina is good anyway, but everybody knows how much more important Sanity is.
Both of them have a dull Speed of 3, which ofter makes them boring or frustrating to play.
But still, I'm always happy to draw Carolyn, since her Ability is SO MUCH useful.
If Vincent had just a Speed of 4, he'd be a pleasant draw to me, though I'd still thick of him as a poor man's spellcaster or monster fighter.

Question Two: This was way too easy a victory, for two people vs. Atlach Nacha, which is impossible. Yes, we had extreme luck with constant monster surges pumping out easily evaded monsters, but I just know I did something wrong. Was this really a victory? Can you win with that book? It just felt... weird.
This happened to us too.
Well, nothing forbids that. Also, using it on places where gates open frequently (like the Witch house, Wizard's Hill or the Woods) would often result in a quick re-opening, which would quickly increase the AO's Doom Track.
That book is very useful only in the situation you described, or if there are so many gates open that you can't afford having one more... In those cases, you just close those less-frequent locations (like Hibb's or the Science building) and pray

My group and I like Tasks & Mission.
we just removed the most difficult (well, I'd say impossible) ones- they're so frustrating or pointless that we consider them like a "blank card drawing".
I'm talking about missions like "joining the winning team", "the light of reason" and a few more...

You can use such items *during* the movement phase.
This means that, AFTER the Upkeep phase you can, say read a tome.
This can happen before moving (so for example you can spend 2 of your 5 movement points, and then move with the remaining 3), during movement (for example if you have 5 movement point you can move by 2, receive a Tome from an investigator in a street area, spend 2 movement points to immediatly read it, and then use the last remaining to move again).
This can also happen after moving but BEFORE the "encounter phase" (example: if you have 5 mov. points you can use 2 to enter, say, the Unnamable location, then spend 2 more to read a tome. The least point would be wasted, unless you have some other way to use it).
Something you CAN'T do is: enter a location, have an encounter there where you get a Tome, and then immediatly read it.
As I said, you can't because since you received it during the Encounter phase, you have to wait for the next movement phase (next turn.
Also, you can't read tomes and use items allowed for the movement phase" when you are in an Other World, since you skip your entire movement phase.
Some people wondered whether Mark Harrigan could do that anyway (since he can't be delayed). We ruled him so he can- just a bit more balancement for his rarely-used special ability

I hate Arcane Insight so much.
It seemed to be wonderful at first- but soon we noticed it makes the game *so* easy!
Now we rule it to just allow you to draw the 1st next Mythos card, read it and decide whether putting it back on either the top or the bottom of the deck.
Tell you what: works nice now
