Hurt: Ghatanothoa
I'm against all these unfamiliar old ones coming in and outshining the big guys of the Mythos.
Ghatanothoa unfamiliar??? I reckon it is among the msot important and well-themed GOOs ever. It isn't of course as "famous" as Cthulhu, Nyarla and all those base-game GOOs, but it is still as famous as Quachil uttaus, Glaaki and such.
Yibb-thing, Bokrug and Rhan-Tegoth are quite meaningless to me, instead. I'm a big Lovecraftian reader but I never really read much (if anything) of them (well, more info can be obtained from the Call of Cthulhu RPG handbook, but I'm talking about Mythos litterature).
so...

mamma mia that's keen of you. I usually wouldn't notice a Shoggoth entering my room, unless it asked for directions- I mean, have you ever seen a Shoggie saying anything else than Tekeli-li?

Uh sorry if I didn't reply sooner but you know, I was having some spare time.

LOL
I just realized this thread's title:
"you can't hit "snooze" with a tentacle"- obviously referring to the GOOs waking up

-
Winning a final battle is not a Victory- I still consider it a kind of a draw: it's like standing on a GOO's corpse ande being surrounded by the smoking ruins of Arkham

In any case, Hastur and Ithaqua are my favourite base-game GOOs, so he just deserved my healing.

-
Yeah, I L
O
V
E Qachil (and Ghatanothoa too): he's SO nasty!Being devoured is not a big problem usually (you just draw another investigator -which might be even better than the previous one- and continue playing).
But it's te fear itself. It's amazing. It's TRUE horror.
I just don't like the final cathcphrase "Please, won't somebody help me?"- I dunno, it just doesn't feel much the original short novel's theme.
-
a +5 Bonus from an M9 Beretta?????

Oboy, have you ever fired one of those pieces of junk???I'm Italian (this gun too, I guess you know that), so you might have expected me to defend it but -heck- I think it's among the less accurate and safe automatics out there. Try a Glock, a S&W MP, any Colt 1911 clone or a CZ- those are good automatics.
The M9 is just reliable and sturdy as hell, but both single action and double action triggers are awfully crafted, sights are fixed and its accuracy is closer to a spraycan if compared to any of the above-mentioned guns

In any case, since it's a 9mm gun, its power-wise bonus would be a +3 (the same of a .38 bullet), which you may upgrade to +4 if you consider his high ammo capacity (a .45 is a better stopper, but only holds hals as many rounds).
Cheers

So par = average. Thanks for the info.
I forgot mentioning Tony's Personal History: It's amazing. I love failing it: you just have to hoard a total of 5 Clues and puff! you lose all your monster trophies (if any!) and from then on you gain 1 clue for every trophy you gain.
This failure can be easily achieved during the very first game turn- and will help him a lot in future fights.
I reckon Michael's PS pass condition Could be even better, though it requires more time and is not as effective as it seems to be (he still can't afford failing horror checks again many monsters).
-
(Par? what's that?)
Well, I got to play Tony some 10+ times (sometimes I even decided I wanted to play him without randomly draw an investigator).
I only happened to end up at the asylum once, but it could have happened to anybody else: I just drew an encounter where I was forced to lose 1 SAN, and that was my current amount.
His high will is a great thing. I prefer his 5 Will / 4 Fight combo than Michael's 4 Will / 6 Fight.
If he's so unlucky not to get any weapon with his equipment, he can beg it to other investigators, or shop a little. Eventually, he'll turn to be more effective than Michael and Mark- believe me!

He can get Allies and blessings SO quickly that you'll be surprised! Try him out a bit more.
I think he's the best KH character (I'm not counting Daisy since I just removed her from the game). Well, there's the Wendy issue, but she's been drawn only once in 1 year, so she hasn't got extensive testing yet.
-
My favourite combo:
Shotgun+ "+1 Fight Skill" + Tom 'Mountain' Murphy

Turns just anybody into a meat-splatter! And it's easy enough to achieve

-
I'm surprised to see so many people disliking Tony and Bob: I think they are among the most all-round characters (well, except for spellcasting
).Their high Will helps a lot with their low Sanityi- and they still have a decent Fight and Luck- the latter being *so* useful!
And I find both their special abilities to be among the most useful ever. Tony's, especially. It is amazing. You can get easy blessings clues and allies by just killing a few maniacs and cultists. If you're playing vs. Shub-Niggurath each monster yelds +2 toughness points to him- think about it!
-
I don't mean to be rude, but you should read the FAQs.
It's options 2 of course. If there was a Mythos phase after EVERY player's turn, the Ancient one would wake up in a few table rounds, and you would'n be able to close enough gates!
The "Spellcasting vs. Ancient one" question has been asked by soooo many people... In brief: yes, you have to cast again every turn. So You can't rely on strong spells (like the Dread Curse of Azatoth) very much: unless you're playing with some expansion item/character, even Harvey Walters won't be able to cast the Dread Curse for more than 3 rounds.
Anyway, I agree with you being so confused by saying that the rules are a REAL MESS. It took my group 1 year of playing (and some 30+ games) just to find that fighting a monster ends your movement and your turn (that is, you can't walk-fight a monster-walk again-fight another monster).

Where does that association come from? You should go see Buddhas friend Mara for a little therapeutic chat.
Somebody on Boardgamegeek.com noted that- And since then, it has been haunting me like that tentacle-hentai stuff.
