  1. Thanks for the replies! Since I don't know for sure what the scenario needs, building a general-purpose deck with some alternate choices for heroes seems like the way to go.
  2. Does anyone know if there are any deck-building restrictions for the Murder at the Prancing Pony events? I'm interested in going, but I'm way behind on cards - the last packs I bought were the Against the Shadow cycle and the Black Riders Saga box. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Yes, my wife and I are pre-registered (although not early enough to get the new domain cards, we were #s 18 and 19). We'll see you on Saturday!
  4. When is the start time for the Regional? Your post above says 12:00, but the Guardian Games website says 1:00.
  5. Quick question about card legality for the tournament in June: will you be allowing older (black-bordered) copies of cards that have been reprinted in the LCG core set? Obviously they would abide by the most recent printing rule.
  6. Unfortunately I can't make it to the event on April 21, but my wife and I are definitely planning on making it to the tournament in June, provided we can get some decent decks together. We would also be interested in a league night at Guardian, schedule permitting. Good luck today!
  7. My wife and I were playing The Dead Marshes and we ran into something that seems to make the scenario a bit too easy to win. We were on stage 2b, but not yet on the final Escape test, when Gollum got his eighth resource token and was shuffled into the encounter deck. Quest stage 2b states that the Quest deck gets re-set to 1b if the final Escape test is failed, but we didn't see it indicated anywhere that the Quest gets re-set if Gollum gets shuffled into the Encounter deck. So we get the three progress tokens on 2b and then dither about exploring locations and killing monsters, waiting for Gollum to come back during a quest phase. He eventually does, and since we've got the progress tokens needed to defeat stage 2b, we do the final Escape test, but Gollum has no resource tokens on him so the final Escape test is an instant win. I'm sure we're missing something, but it seems like you want Gollum to escape early on so he'll come back with no resource tokens on him, although I do realize you run the risk of him getting drawn as a Shadow card, ending up in the discard pile, and having to wait for the Encounter deck to be reshuffled. Any thoughts?
  8. Does anyone know what the difficulty level of The Massing at Osgiliath is supposed to be?
  9. I just picked up the game today. For my first game I played the Leadership deck vs. Passage Through Mirkwood, and I breezed through fairly easily with a score of 39. It seemed a bit easy, but getting Steward of Gondor on turn 1 meant that I didn't have any trouble getting a ton of allies into play. I pulled "Don't Leave the Path" for my final quest card, pulled Ungoliant's Spawn out as my spider of choice, and defeated it right away. I'm looking forward to trying the other decks, and some 2 player games once my wife gets home from work!
  10. Question: Can monsters carry more than one sample token at a time? If so, can they drop off more than one at a time on an altar? If they can drop all their sample tokens off at once, this makes objective 1A in Blood Ties (scenario 3) impossible for the investigators to win, as the Keeper reveals the objective when two sample tokens are dropped at the altar, then wins when a third is dropped off. Even if they have to drop them off once per turn, this means the investigators only get one turn to win, between when the second and third sample tokens are dropped off. Makes for a rather abrupt and unsatisfying ending.
  11. For any players in the Portland, Oregon area, we will be playing all three LCGs every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at Guardian Games, 303 SE 3rd Ave, from 6:30 - 9:00 pm. So far we have a few Call of Cthulhu players and a few Warhammer Invasion players, and we would welcome more! The store will purchase league kits if we can get enough player interest. We can demo Call of Cthulhu or Warhammer Invasion if anyone wants to learn. We don't have any Game of Thrones players yet, but we would love to have some and any would be welcome. Upcoming dates are October 13, October 27, November 10, and November 24.

  14. My main outlet for playing board games is at home with my wife, so we're always on the lookout for games that support 2 players. It's always a little disappointing when I see that a new game I'm really interested in, such as Android or Battlestar Galactica, requires 3 or more players.
  15. I'd love to see a Star Trek miniatures-based ship combat game similar to Wings of War. I'd also like a boardgame based on Deep Space Nine - moving characters around the station for political or tactical advantage would be fun. Realistically, if anything were to happen it would be based on the new film, and since I don't know the plot yet I don't know how a game would go. I always liked the basic structure of Decipher's Star Trek CCG, the idea of assembling the right team of crewmen beam down to a planet, and then having them face unforseen plot twists. A board or card game with a similar structure would be interesting.
