  1. If this has been brought up before then I apologize. I was wondering if there are any novels and/or short stories dealing with the Necrons and if so which ones would you guys suggest?
  2. Does anyone know if there are plans to reprint the Character Folio that was put out whe DH first came out? I got one copy of it and put it up but would like to get some more to actuly use.
  3. For me a big difference between D&D and Dark Heresy is that in D&D (and a lot of RPG's for that matter) once the characters are of higher level there is little risk of being killed unless they are being attacked by a big nasty monster/spell/etc. In Dark Heresy even high ranking characters can be taken down by a lucky shot to the head.
  4. All very good points Graver. Thank you so much.
  5. I’ve just picked up the Rogue Trader book and GM Kit. I admit that I haven’t read all of it yet…so this may be a mute point. Should the Rogue Trader be an NPC like most of us use the Inquisitor in Dark Heresy or should it be allowed as a character? If a player chooses to play the RT is he in charge… Telling the other players what to do all the time?
  6. Sorry... I posted this in the wrong group. Should have been in the Gamemasters group.
  7. On page 42 of Creatures Anathema in the section on “Death Worlds” we learn a bit about the planet Phyrr. To me this is a most intriguing planet and I’ve wanted to run an adventure based around this out-of-the-way planet for some time. The most intriguing part of Phyrr’s story (IMO) is the rumors of strange ships that don’t respond to hails or commands and the hidden pyramid deep in the planets jungle. In the past year I have found this forum to be an almost limitless springboard of Ideas, so now I’m asking for your take on Phyrr. My group is all about rank 5-6 and have been tracking a heretic Abbot and his Slaugth cohorts for some time now and have just learned of his secret trip to Phyrr. The Acolytes are hot on his trail and will arrive at Phyrr’s moon base in our next game. Between the strange ships and the pyramid I am having to control my desire to throw something Necron in here. What are your thoughts on Phyrr? Strange ships? The Pyramid? The Mechanicus of Phyrr?

  9. I've got 3 boys. One is 8, one is 4 and the other is 5 months old. I like to tell my friends that I'm growing a gaming group one kid at a time.
  10. I'm sure that the Tech Priest will come up with something better than this Daemon "Apple" you speak of.
  11. As I run most of the games I’m involved in I may have a different outlook about my favorite books than a player might. First of all let me just say that it impresses me how I have never been disappointed with any of the Dark Heresy books that I’ve purchased. Hats off to everyone at Fantasy Flight that help turn out one of the best role-playing games I’ve ever encountered! As I said before I love all the books that have been published and though I believe that Creatures Anathema is one of, if not the best “Monster Book” of any RPG I’ve ever run, my choice for best sourcebook would have to be Disciples of the Dark Gods. I find this work to be an almost endless source of plot devices and conspiracies for my games. I never grow tired of reading through it and at anytime I feel the old “GM block” sinking in during prep time all I have to do is start thumbing through DotDG and the ideas start flowing like wine! So…What’s your favorite sourcebook?

    DOTDG Art?

Good idea. I'll try that. Thanks!

    DOTDG Art?

Does anyone know where I can download art from Disciples of the Dark Gods or the other Dark Heresy books?
  14. That's great! I love to mess with him like that. He's a good guy though, you know, the one who will show up to help no matter how much heavy crap you've got.
  15. I think so.....but then I collect old games and RPG's like some guys collect comics. lol It's all well and good until I have to move my collection. A few months ago my best friend was helping me move into my new Apt. and after spending all day lugging those heavy boxes of game books in here he made the joke that if I ever get out of gaming I should start collecting stamps, cause at least thay would be easy to move! lol
  16. There wasn't one infront of them. One followed the orks and the others were a long way behind them and closing on them but they had enough of a head start to make it to their ship.....The final 'Nids' were only used as a scare tactic by me to keep them moving.
  17. I would never mistreat it. I love the book and the fact that it is a first and only printing and has some mistakes in it is why I thought about putting it up. It may not be worth much but to me it's a cool collector’s piece. Shoot I still have D&D handbooks from over 30 years ago. Don't use them anymore but they are kind of cool to have.
  18. Ahh.... Now I see it. Can't believe I missed that.
  19. Thank you for the help! That's much better than what we came up with.
  20. I’m going to post this here and in the ‘House Rules’ section. I’ve been looking through my books and other than one paragraph on page 160 of the Core Rulebook I can’t find any info on ‘Untouchables’. So if I just missed it please point me in the right direction. Until then this is what my group and I have come up with for a House Rule Version. UNTOUCHABLE: Is a trait that can be picked up by any of the careers at rank 1(except Psykers of course). It’s free and your ‘Untouchable Rank’ will increase for free at ranks 2,4,6,7,8. Unlike a psyker who buys Psy-ratings (to show practice and training) the untouchable gets theirs for free because they have no control over it. Being an Untouchable means to be a psychic blank. So the psychic ‘Null’ field you generate will grow as you grow in power. The null-field centers on you and spreads out in every direction a number of meters as follows…….. Untouchable Rank 1: Null-Field= 1 + Wil. Bonus in meters Untouchable Rank 2: Null-Field= 2 + Wil. Bonus in meters Untouchable Rank 3: Null-Field= 3 + Wil. Bonus in meters Untouchable Rank 4: Null-Field= 4 + Wil. Bonus in meters Untouchable Rank 5: Null-Field= 5 + Wil. Bonus in meters Untouchable Rank 6: Null-Field= 6 + Wil. Bonus in meters Inside this area of affect no psychic of equal or lower psy-rating will be able to use psychic powers and those that are of a higher rating will only have a 50% chance of working. [Example: If you have Untouchable rank 4, then no psyker with psy-rating 1-4 will be able to function in your null-field. Psykers of psy-rating 5-6 will only have a 50% chance of their powers working.

  22. Yeah...I wish I had that one. lol I'm just talking about the regular first printing of the Core Rulebook by Black Industries.
  23. Dark Heresy RPG Mission Report: Faith and Fire Pt.2 **********************************Report 2************************************ 086.933. M41 Subject: Mission Report Author: Acolyte Cell 116.7G.9K Cell Members: Gallus (Cleric), Sila (Adepta Sororitas) To: Inquisitor Jebidiah Malestorm Location: Listening Outpost X-Z359 Sector: Calixis Thought For The Day: ‘A suspicious mind is a healthy mind’ After the brief but bloody battle with the ork slime, we finished cutting through the blast doors that lead into the docking bay on Sub-Level 1. What we found inside was a truly disturbing .The main hanger blast doors were sealed and welded shut from the inside. The burnt, smoking remains of two ships lay scattered about. From the pieces, we determined that one was a small “Lighter” craft that belonged to the listening outpost and the other was the shuttle that the local Arbitrators used to get here. The rest of the deck was a disturbing scene of blood and gore. Body parts of an undetermined number of men were splattered all over the deck. Burt and bloody entrails were smeared across the floor. One thing was easy to determine, these men didn’t die from the blast of the shuttles…. They were torn apart…… This must have been their last stand. We recovered what data we could from the wreckage of the shuttles and it is stated in the log that both ships were set to self-destruct by X-Z359 deck officer, William Havazoski. In continuing our search of the docking bay we also found an exhaust vent about 30 meters up that seems to have been ripped open from the inside. At 0930 Barda sent the following coded vox…..”‘Sir’s, the tech servitor has been working on decrypting the files you sent over and though he’s not finished he has found something I thought I should report. The logs from the mainframe show something strange. It seems for the past few month’s that the reports from the outpost have been fake. They appear to be the same scan over and over with new dates forged. It would seem that the operators here haven’t done a new scan in some time, but they’ve gone to great lengths to make it look as though all has been quiet and normal.’ During our continued search we encountered and purged three more Orks in the dining hall before moving to the living quarters on Sub-Level 2. Like the rest of the outpost this level seems to have been ransacked. Inside the outpost administrators’ (Merris Blout) quarters we uncovered his personal log. God Emperor save us, what we read chilled us to the bone. The log stated that two years ago he began having dealings with a Rouge Trader named Farran Ghast. {Please note Excommunicate Traitoris record 327.99T.428} Their dealings included purchasing lab equipment, and Xenos DNA samples of Tyranids. He also states that he and the others set up the false scan reports and then removed the scanning equipment in order to set up a lab so that their research could be done in secret. A bio-cloak that he also purchased from Ghast had been installed to mask all bio signs within the facility. That however seemed to be the undoing. ……. According to the last log entry, one of the “Specimens” had gotten loose and because of the bio-cloak they were unable to find it before it got into the ductwork. It was at this time that we began to hear gun fire and orks screaming. A group of about six “Green-Skins” rushed past the room we were standing in. They were firing behind them as they rushed toward the soft dock on this level. Only a moment later did we hear inhuman screams and the “Clickity-Click” of claws on metal heading this way!!! The beast rushed past the doorway chasing the orks and as you can see from the vid-capture {Attachment PT-0084} it would seem that these heretic fools were breeding Genestealers! Sila and I made haste at once for the upper level soft dock. I alerted Barda over the vox and instructed him to send and urgent message to Battlefleet Calixis informing them of the Tyranid outbreak on Outpost X-Z359 and request immediate assistance! By the time we reached the ship, we were being pursued by at least three more of the xenos beast. We barely made it aboard before being overcome. The ork ship bugged out before we could stop it. However in light of events we stayed in orbit until the battlecruiser “Devine Fist” arrived. Outpost X-Z359 no longer exists. According to Excommunicate Traitoris record 327.99T.428 “Farran Ghast” We have standing orders to follow every lead in hunting down this heretic; however we will await orders from you. As always, your faithful subjects May the God-Emperor Protect
  24. I have a dilemma and would like to hear the thoughts of some fellow gamers on the subject. When Dark Heresy first released under the Black Industries logo I was one of the lucky ones here in my hometown that got a copy of it. I’ve been very careful with it in the two games I run. It’s in very good condition. Now here’s the dilemma …. One of my best friends bought me a copy of the reprint by Fantasy Flight. Should I put the old one up so that it doesn’t get any more “wear” or continue to use it and pass the new one around in my bigger group, that has a couple of players sharing books now?
  25. I would allow a character to burn a fate point. That's what they're for. There are a lot of things in the 40K universe that can kill characters,,, Not just guns. That being said.....It is nice from time to time to throw in some taint just to see how the party handles it.
