  1. But we've established that the cost of other games is irrelevant.
  2. A starter set for X wing is £30 which is enough for people to take a punt on impulse and I'm willing to bet that's where a lot of interest came from. X Wing is/was also sold in wider outlets; book shops for instance. Not just game shops. I can't see that being the case with Armada.
  3. I'm sure there are enough people like me who were not taken in by X-Wing and waited to see if there would be a game like Armada. Also, why would they be planning a Wave 2 already if the sales figures on Armada indicated it would not be popular? I think initially there will be a lot of interest, but I think that, over time, the game will struggle because people won't or can't keep up with the price of playing. I would imagine the majority of those interested in this game already play X Wing at least.
  4. I think you're being obtuse. Armada is expensive. It has an £80 core set and that set doesn't give you a complete game (300points). The expansions are likewise a lot of money. That may be fine for you if you can afford it and want to purchase it. But the point is that Armada is competing with existing interests and diminished budgets - and time!
  5. I see no evidence of this. X Wing, whether you like it or not, is exceptionally popular. It is a huge seller for FFG. For Armada to eclipse that will be a considerable feat.
  6. Comparisons don't make good arguments: whether other games are more expensive says nothing about the cost of Armada. All that tells me is that other games are even more expensive. But you miss the point I've made: Armada isn't the only game. People this is being marketed to are, more likely than not, players of other games. Armada is competing for a smaller share of the customer's wallet.
  7. This game may well be a superior design to X wing. That is entirely likely. I also do not doubt the components merit the cost. However that cost is still a huge buy in - particularly when it's being marketed to people that already have other gaming commitments. Are enough x wing players really going to be able to afford to support this as well? The price of a single ship in Armada is almost the cost of 1 of each expansions in a typical x wing wave. Not only that, but Imperial Assualt, which is proving very popular, is still relatively new. I have a feeling Armada will be the straw that breaks the camel's back. I think FFG has overreached itself. I'm sure it will sell initially, I'm sure there are plenty of people who will now tell me they are planning on buying a ton of stuff for it and have 3x everything on preorder. Great, but are there enough of such people to build a community and create a sustainable player base - along with everything else they might play?
  8. Three hull isn't the issue. 4 defence dice with an evade token and possibly AT evades is.
  9. The cost of the ship is irrelevant. It doesn't have to fit Autoblasters.
  10. I don't understand this ruling at all. In the FAQ, as iunderstand it, evade tokens are considered a die result, or a modification of dice results. Thus Autoblasters, in the example they cite, cannot be cancelled by dice - and thus evade tokens. So barring another effect (i can't think of one) hits rolled are guaranteed damage. Consequenlty that applies to pilots like Ten Nunb. This makes no sense to me at all. Surely that's overpowered.
  11. What do you think? It's beginning, then. Run something that can barrel roll at PS9, if Fel scares you so much. Or start running Jan Ors. Or start running Ten Numb. Or just point your Falcon's firing arc at him. And there's your problem: a pilot that controls the meta. THis leads to a stagnant boring environment: fel + ptl +AT + SD, every imperial list. I've seen him more than enough already.
  12. Soontir Fel to be able to equip both Autothrusters and Stealth Device?
  13. So far, SFFG doesn't count Huge ships and Aces packs as part of the Waves, they are separate mid-wave releases. Since they haven't announced anything at all for w7 i assumed it was the Raider. I have zero interest in epic ships anyway

Hot shot is great - unless you flub your roll The loop is great but it's not always going to giveyou position. It doesn't take away his blind side which, being a big ship, is bigger. I like IG88 very much, but i don't think 2 IG's is essential. I woudl like a second, but only for the indulgence.

Why would you need 2? At 100 points that's your list entirely. Why would anyone think he's weaker on his own in a list. That makes no sense. A 2 big ship list with only forward fire arcs I don't think is compensated by having 4 pilot abilities. He's still PS 6.
  16. I don't know about no strike, but i hope the people that print and distribute these toys, especially in China, are getting properly paid - unlike the people Apple indirectly employs (and doesn't care about).
  17. Is there a reason that this ship isn't available at all? Unless you want to play silly money. Is it going to be properly reprinted at some point?
  18. And when the adept fails his investigation test and giant score the points, then what?
  19. If that's the intention then that's not terribly clear. I didn't read it that way at all and just asked everyone to build around 48=50 points. I used IG with Stay On Target, Advanced Sensors, Autothrusters, Mangler, Flechette, and Inertial Dampners. I died first Falcon won.
  20. TBH i'm probably going to quit. It's not happening here and I can't justify buying stuff that isn't getting played. Gutted really, but my own fault for assuming it would take off on the basis of being 40k!
