Why would a psyker push?
signoftheserpent replied to Frosty71's topic in Dark Heresy Rules Questions
The psyker system is dire. Sorry, it just is. The old system may have been random (unlike rolling doubles of course ) but it was smoother cleaner and simpler than this convoluted mess. And they've made the powers far too awkward to acquire, and less itneresting. I don't get this at all. -
I suppose international shipping will take another fortnight, hopefully no problem with customs. Or any problems with the binding!
-
Just received an email saying the book should be sent out this week.
-
If that's the case then they could at least let me know.
-
No word from FFG as to when they might be shipping their replacement out. I sent an email a couple of days ago, but no response. Surely a month is reasonable time to at least let me know what's happening with that?

What happened to 2nd edition?

literally; in some places they forgot to use Influence instead of the word Requisition! -
new supplement just anounced fr q4
signoftheserpent replied to Shemov's topic in Dark Heresy General Discussion
Supplemental(rules) material should not be included in an adventure book. Why isn't this past of a more comprehensive rules supplement, like Inquisitors Handbook was? -
Just checked the status page for my complaint and it seems to suggest they are going to send me a replacement which is good news. Hopefully the FFG Astropaths won't have problems with the Warp. Maybe it will arrive before it was sent! More importantly, hopefully it would be a copy in good condition (though I can't imagine them sending one otherwise).
-
FFG will have to take it up with the printers perhaps litigiously. However I have yet to hear from them regarding my complaint: not sure how long it takes to decide to issue, or not, a replacement.
-
No response from FFG yet, other than to acknowledge and log the complaint. I'm not in any great hurry, but I'm not entirely sure how much time is needed to decide, one way or ther other, how to respond.

It could be the increased page count. I wondered that myself. Unfortunately not much can be done about that.

You'll have to go to the Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay G+ community. I can't post pix from there here.
-
I ordered mine online, not sure i can be bothered posting it back to the retailer. If it falls to pieces i might get a new one. I don't live in the US, FFG aren't just going to ship out a replacement anyway.
-
I have; am awaiting a response.

Are there any home remedies?
-
I've not had any problems with other FFG books, though my EotE is a tiny bit creaky. My copy of DH2 is worse. It might hold, but where the page is glued to the inside of the cover (the picture of the cityscape) it is not glued up to the seam and so isn't held in place.

Anyone else have problems with a weak binding in their copy of 2e?

General thoughts on Askellon
signoftheserpent replied to Lionus's topic in Dark Heresy General Discussion
Askellon is starting to sound more interesting; the Aventine write up is just the sort of thing that's needed I think (until it goes pop, of course). Would be nice to hear more about the Inquisition's take on it, but I really don't care to wait six months for the 2e Inquisitor's Handbook. -

I could have done with less information on the gangs of Desoleum, since we aren't playing Necromunda, and more on the actual day to day life within a hive. The baroque stuff, like oathcogs, is all well and good, but how do people live in the hive? This is important for ag ame like this, as it's not Only War or Space Marines. Do these people ever do anything but slave in the factories? Do they get paid? What do they eat? Do they all have rickets from being indoors all the time? Are they all constantly exposed to toxins and radiation? I get that life in the 41st millenium is ostensibly harsh, but the supporting fiction supposes a more rounded take on that setting which is necessary for the game to work IMO. I never finished it but Titanicus is set on an almost bucolic world that gets invaded. -

TBF it doesn't state much in the book. That's the problem; inevitably there will be a book telling us more that will come out months from now when it's much less important. Some of the stuff doesn't make much sense. Desoleum and Juno seem identical. Post apocalyptic overpopulated places falling to pieces. Bit of a yawn. Desoleum's baroque society seems rather self defeating; how are players to interact with it if it's as complicated as it says? They spend two pages describing Enkidu as a mysterious place without explaining why. The stuff about the ecclesiarchy is interesting but the planet being massively deadly with the ground monsters and the forest dwelling tribesfolk doesn't leave much to work with. Myesteries are great, but not when they are so cryptic that even the GM doesn't know what's going on. And that's it for the major planets; the rest of them aren't covered at all. What about the other hive world, the agri world, the mining world and the mechanicus world etc? No mention of the structure of the Inquisition's presence within, unlike DH1 which had a whole list of people and stuff including the Tyrantine Cabal. No Pandaemonium Cabal, for example. Ok so we are meant to make this stuff up. But that's rather half arsed. -
Influence for resource acquisition - debate
signoftheserpent replied to Luddite's topic in Dark Heresy General Discussion
The real problem is what happens when you need something and fail your roll. That can't happen with coins. In Black Crusde you had to wait until you next succeeded an (Infamy) roll before you got to try for that particular purchase again. Don't know if that's the case here. I don't mind the idea at all. Not sure how it works in practice; what happens when you're influence is high enough you can't fail to get an Exterminatus on demand? -
That isn't a DH2 book. can VfB tell us how compatible it is?
-
Ffg seems to think every game will put the forces of the inquisition against one of the gangs of give desoleum.

General thoughts on Askellon

The problem with Askellon, aside from the major planets all (so far) being identikit toxic wastelands inbetween denselypacked hive cities built on ancient ruins, is that there is nothing in it. Calixis wasn't amazing. In fact I don't think it was any better at all, but it was developed: you ended up with a variety of interests and organisations that DH2 has not provided: the Kasbalica, the Cold Trade, the Pale League, etc. Many of these connect to the neighbouring Koronus Expanse, quite deliberately - Calixis was the last bastion of civilisation before the Halo Stars. Now FFG has presed the reset button and all we have are Desoleum Hive Gangs. They haven't carried any of these groups over at all, I think that's a mistake. -
At least cover adversaries for the 4 Dark Gods, not just Nurgle. What about DE? Do we need Desoleum entertainers? Are we to write adventures investigating jugglers?
