  1. Thanks for your reply ninjadorg, nice to know that it is beatable solo and with a single core set. I have every intention of keeping at it. As with any of the scenarios it often comes down with the way the cards come out. My last attempt had me with one Ally and too many monsters engaged. The fact Gandalf's map inhibits one attacker/defender is a real slap in armour. Again thanks for the great work, hope you keep it up, it has made the game one terrific purchase offering a lot of variety. Regards edmil
  2. G'day Ninjadorg, Love your scenarios, awesome work, have managed to beat all up to scenario 5. Which has sliced and diced me considerable. Is this one possible to beat Solo and with one core deck only? I am currently using a spirit / leadership combo but each time I'm totally destroyed. I have managed to get through stage one but from that point on it's all down hill. The latest game yielded me one ally to continue into stage 2 with a couple of lower threat monsters hit the staging area and then engaged and it was good night. Despite the killing fields still find it enjoyable so thanks for your work. edmil
  3. After nine long battles before succeeding to get a win for Chapter 6 I was pleasantly surprised to find chapter 7 a walk in park or should I say Arkham. Most of the action occurred in Dunwich with the Dunwich horror making its move about 1/2 way into the game. It actually worked a treat as the investigators had manged to get some nice weaponry and few spells so while the Dunwich terror increased the doom track the investigators took refuge in Arkham Asylum. Knowing that Dunwich was not going to be pleasant the Investigators decided to steer clear of the place and stay in Arkham. A good strategy as it turned out. 3 gates open in Dunwich, 2 in Arkham and the doom track hit 12. The Terror track stood at 2 and investigators had maximum sanity. As Glaaki appeared Mild mannered Darrell Simmons, who had managed to improve his combat skill by hanging out at the Gym, brandished The Golden sword of Y'hatella, Jacqueline Fine called on the Dread curse of Azathoth and Ashcan waded into the battle with his Tommy Gun and Brass Knuckles. Even though Glaaki resisted as best he could the magical weapon, the Spell, and some of bullets caused massive damage. As Jacqueline Fine's eyes began to glaze she switched to casting Wither with both hands and managed some crucial damage. The investigators proved to be to good fro Glaaki and while he managed to hold off for a number of rounds he eventaully succumbed. Terror track stood at 7. 3 gates were closed and sealed and 8 monsters had been defeated. All in All very little work by the investigators and a lot of luck in the stars.
  4. My copy of the Black goat is fine. But I agree with above contact FFG customer support, they are absolutely fantastic. I contacted them 2 days ago as I was missing a Arkham encounter card I didn't know whether I had misplaced it or It wasn't included in my purchase. The support was the best I have ever had. The card is now in the mail. I can't recommend their customer support highly enough.
  5. Just realised didn't remove BGOTW monsters - no wonder I've been getting wiped out by those monsters that are treated as cultists plus a few other nasties.
  6. I was also searching the forum for a response on this question and a little more. But firstly I've been using the stats of a Cthonian but activating those stats on the moon symbol. The next part I was querying was those monsters that are 'treated as cultists' are they by being treated as Cultists therefore also treated as Cthonians? I have found this chapter to be a shocker. I managed to draw the terrible experiment as the 2nd Mythos the other night and given that I played any monster who is treated as a cultist as a Cthonian I ended up with 4 monsters arriving as the result of the rumor not being resolved. 4 rolls of the die and not one 1 amongst them 4 losses of stamina on each investigator they all ended in St Mary's. Next upkeep phase rolled to see if two of the investigators retained their blessing - guess what two 1's the game was meant to be over quickly
  7. I have played this Chapter twice now with the same 3 characters: Wilson Richards, Dexter Drake and Vincent Lee. In Both game Ithaqua has awoken. In the first all Investigators defeated without so much as the roll of a die - no magical weopons amongst them and highest fight value was a 4. In second game managed to remove 5 tokens from Ithaqua's doom track before falling victim. Used 'Enchant weapon' to enchant the shotgun. even though I only had 2 die to roll I managed to roll a few 6's. The blessing also helped. In game 2 I managed to get 6 gates closed but only one sealed. I may have managed to close all the gates if it weren't for a few bad trips to the OW. The worst part was having to place 2 doom tokens when there were only 2 monsters on the board equal numbers. This one is certainly a challenge. May need to look at the investigator mix again.
