Looking for a game over the internet!

The usual dice bots. You can either see the dice faces (which will be the way to go with 3e wfrp), the results, or the math plus results. So, for 2e, I just took the work that Jesse Burke had done when we played through KARAK AZGAL and improved it: 1) To hit: Highlight your character and roll against your character's weapon skill (same for other skills) 2) Damage: Highlight the opponent and roll damage + modifier. Some of the guys playing savage worlds have "libary" tokens for multiple reference, but that get's way beyond what I would ever want to do. (ulric's fury is just a 50% chance rather than re-reference). It's been fun. Aight, I sent you a friend req. When we both get time I'd like to squeeze in on a game to see how it plays. I've been working on a Warrior Priest lately. -
When's FFG going to put out a Warhammer poster map?

First I was all pffft. Then I was hrm. Later I was all like Hmmmm. -
Read through the rules (of course) - run the 'Day Late and a Shilling Short' demo scenario Read some of the demo experiences in the Emperor's Decree section. Download my quick ref sheet (in my sig). Download this screen as well. Remember that this is a very open game. It's tailor made to allow GMs to adjudicate as the situation requires. If you're not sure about something, make a call and move on. Don't spend a lot of time looking for rules that aren't there. Never let them see you sweat. And last, but not least. Have fun. Don't let anything get in the way of that and your players will have a blast.

Like this maybe? Over Charged Black Powder Weapons: Gunpowder weapons may be overloaded to provide a more powerful charge. This is a dangerous game to play. A weapon firing above its powder capacity can be unpredictable at best. For each additional charge packed into a blackpowder weapon, apply the following: • You may fire 1 range band further than the listed value. • You must add an additional <P> to the weapons difficulty due to the powerful shot. • The ‘Unreliable’ factor is reduced by 1. Weapons without an ‘Unreliable’ trait are treated as having ‘Unreliable 3’ and adjusted from there. • Take 1 stress. Note: All factors are cumulative. Firing a weapon charged with enough powder to take it below 'Unreliable 1' results in an automatic misfire. For example, a weapon with ‘Unreliable 3’ that has 2 additional loads of powder packed into it would: • Fire 2 range bands further • Have a <PP> penalty to attacks • Be considered to be ‘Unreliable 1’ • Cause 2 stress when fired You must spend a manoeuvre to prepare and load the weapon before firing.

Interesting. I've always wondered about Maptool. I wrote the Rulesets for WFRP2 on Fantasy Grounds 1 and 2. Some of the forum members that are here now actually helped with the db population. The rulesets have seen heavy use. Lots of fans. Now that v3 is out, Fantasy Grounds can no longer support the system. The dice for that program are seriously embedded (to prevent cheating I suppose) and can't be changed without some serious code restructuring. There is a request by the new owner to open negotiations with FFG for a ruleset for v3, but if they're talking, they are keeping it under wraps. I'm assuming the new FGII owner will adjust the dice code if a deal is struck, but I'm not holding out hope. How does Maptool handle the dice? It may be time to switch v-tables. I have a lot of friends and family that no longer live close that would love to play. -

Emirikol said: You know what would be a great idea? Is if marketing at FFG could mail people who run WFRP3 at conventions a poster map. Yea, that would be really cool. jh Yeah, and people that run demos. That would be cool. I support this idea! -
There needs to be some new careers that people ignore, like: Pissboy Chum-Bucket cleaner Homeless Person Flapper Electric Donkey Bottom Wiper Cesspool Stirrer Dung Collector (oh, wait, there actually was one of those wasn't there?) Royal Fluffer Chimney Sweep Royal Cousin's Nanny Passerby Royal Taste Tester Village Idiot Seamstress Town Guard Deputy Snack Tray Wench Taffy Puller (take that however you want) Animal control Park Ranger And the final career, most likely to be ignored: Fanboi

Very nice hedge. I have a portrait quad fold screen with pockets in it. I've had it for a long time. I wanted to link it, but I can't find it anymore. I print out stuff like this and put it in that screen.

The best one I have, I think it came from an old White Dwarf. It has an inset that shows the whole world. Anyone know what issue it came from? -
Don't forget Rats, Weasels, and Ferrets!

Ferozstein said: Hum.. I assumed from the AT blurb that the Wardancer, Swordmaster and Ironbreaker are all Basic careers (and as such, they come with their phat lewt right from the start). But yes, in fact that was never explicitly stated. I hope they're not, then. I'm pretty sure the Iron Breaker and Sword Master are advanced careers. Not sure about the Wardancer, but I would assume the same for it. However, I haven't seen an example yet of any career 'coming' with a piece of equipment. It must be bought. The 'trappings' on the back of the card are suggestions for what they would normally have, not what they actually come with. You have to kick your starting money up and buy the items. At least that's the conclusion we've come to in a thread about this in the 'Rules Questions' forum (there has been no official ruling on this that I'm aware of).

Ferozstein said: The Small But Vicious Dog getting its own card idea is simply awesome, but there was also something else in that designer's diary, something I didn't like that much. The Swordmasters are getting theit Swords of Hoeth, and the Ironbreakers have gromril armor. While I don't know all that much about Swordmasters (or High Elves in general, for that matter), giving a starting character a suit of gromril mail flat out beats even the most uber trappings of 2ed careers. Yes, I know, it's an ancient clan heirloom, a dwarf could never sell it and losing it would result in him taking the Slayer oath - but it still feels wrong, over the top and wholly unnecessary. Are you sure they GET them, or could it be they have to acquire them as part of their change to the career?

I have several Old World posters. I would buy another without question. I love maps. -

My dwarven soldier wants a pet rock That comes with a Ranged Attack option doesn't it?

Kaptain O said: TOU already kinda caps out how much fatigue you can have total, I would be just using AGI to determine how fast you can spend it (or how fast you can move) Someone with high TOU would win the marathon, but high AGI would win the sprint. I would probably allow AGI/2 additional move manouevres to be bought per turn - not sure if I would round up or down, probably up but I need to think it over and do the math. Good point. Remember that it takes a lot of fatigue to close long distances: Engage or disengage = 1 Manoeuvre Move close to medium range = 1 Manoeuvre Move medium to long range = 2 Manoeuvres Move long to extreme range = 3 Manoeuvres You may not need to divide it at all. They are still paying for it with fatigue.
-
Yeah, I like the agil cap idea too. I'll adopt that as well. Edit: Though on 2nd thought, I might use Toughness instead. Seems more related to 'fatigue' than agility.

Kaptain O said: fair enough, if it's been errata'd to work like that it's cool. I think I will play using the ACE points, otherwise for just a few measly wounds your critters can be running around like crazy. Also considering putting a cap on how many movement manouevres you can take in a single turn, I don't care how tired you get you shouldnt be able to get from extreme to engaged on one turn. Engaging from Extreme Range would cost 6 wounds. That's a lot. The monster would be exhausted by the time he got there and picked off easily. With most minion groups, it would even mean one of them drops dead before they get there. It's likely I wouldn't take that option anyway. That sounds like the GM exploiting the system. I try to keep my monsters fair. As I've said, I've killed of two demo characters already, playing the RAW, so exploiting the rules for further advantage would just be mean I'm planning a long term campaign. Our test games leading up to that are setting the precedence on how that campaign will be adjudicated. Because of this, I'm leaning a little toward 'cutting the players some slack' till I figure out just how easy it is to kill one of them off. I want them to have a fighting chance at a long term campaign. So, things like 'not over taxing them on caster rolls', 'me not exploiting the rules', and other things that give me an unfair advantage are being evaluated so we can get the most out of the system. We're still getting our feet under us, so to speak.

Kaptain O said: NezziR said: Remember, monsters can also take a wound and perform additional manoeuvres I don't think so, the rules state they dont have any fatigue but that if they are forced to spend either stress or fatigue (say from a critical or special ability) they take wounds instead. It doesnt say they can choose to take a wound to activate something that usually requires a fatigue/stress. Unless it does say it somewhere and I missed that rule, in which case I take it back =P Here is a post from Jay. I can't find the exact link, but it's in this sub-forum somewhere: Going by the rules as written, additional manouevres would cost fatigue. Since standard creatures do not accrue fatigue, instead they must suffer wounds if an effect would inflict/cost fatigue. Performing an additional manoeuvre beyond the one free manouevre on a turn would therefore inflict one wound rather than one fatigue. A group of henchmen working together would only suffer one wound collectively. Alternatively, here is an official variant GMs may wish to use to add even more versatility to the A/C/E budgets that creatures have. A creature's Aggression budget can be spent in a similar way to the use of fatigue to perform additional manoeuvres. Likewise, a creature's Cunning budget can be spent in a similar way to stress to adjust a creature's stance. While a creature's stance is fixed, spending 1 point from the Cunning budget allows the creature to adjust his stance +/-1 for a single check. So a creature that normally has a stance of R1 could spend 1 cunning from its budget to roll R2 for a single check. Jay Little You're right though. It doesn't say that. It's just a little extrapolation based on what it does say.

Thanks. After seeing the 'Thread the Needle' card, I've updated our house rule to: [Rule] Firing into a melee engagement: No one likes accidentally hitting a friendly in combat. While accurate, it's not a fun rule. But, you have to admit, it could be dangerous. Someone could lose an eye! One would assume that if one were firing into a melee that included friends, they would be very careful. Conservative [bB]: Firing into melee combat in a conservative state will cost one additional recharge to the action card used (due to the extra aiming time) and will incur a [bB] penalty. If the action has a zero recharge value, it will add 2 recharge tokens to the action card (essentially making it unusable for one turn as a recharge token is removed at the end of your turn). A miss is a miss unless the card states otherwise. Reckless [bB]: Firing into melee combat in a reckless state incurs a [bB] penalty to the shot. A miss is a miss unless the card states otherwise. Firing into a melee engagement in reckless stance will cause the party to gain 1 party tension. [Rule]

Remember, monsters can also take a wound and perform additional manoeuvres if they need to get somewhere fast. Jay also put up an optional rule that says they can spend A/C/E to manoeuvre. Action cards aren't manoeuvres. That's a separate part of the phase. No matter if they use up their manoeuvre allotment or not, they can still attack if they are engaged.

The Asgardian said: I would love to see more involvement from Jay and the crew with our queries and comments concerning the new iteration of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, but I also see the "trap" that can create when a developer starts getting bombarded with requests and such. I just would like to say that I would LOVE a FAQ as it comes in and hopefully updated as much as possible. I am really enjoying reading the product I have bought, but I am well aware of the lack of organization and some rules hidden well with the "fluff". I can see how a GM screen will clear up alot of people's frustations too. Having the necessary information and tiny tidbit rules all available to glance at by themselves would be great. -ashe- I know a lot of people (including me) got an email say they were working on a FAQ. Until a screen comes along, check out my quick reference in my sig. If you think something should be, or needs to be, added to it, drop me a note.

Maybe I read things wrong, but my understanding was that you got a chance to dump all that power off before you were forced to roll for it. So, you would wait till the end of the turn before you had to roll to see if you were overcharged and needing to wrestle with it to control it. There's going to have to be a 1/2 page FAQ just on spells and casting...

The way I see it, loot in most games is there for the sake of loot alone. It often has little to do with who has it or where it was found. This is especially true in D&D and even more so in living campaigns. This game, being more story driven, the loot is more situational. A beastman is going to have a few teeth and some bones on him. That's his loot. Maybe a gold tooth here and there, but they have no economy. Same with Orcs. To my knowledge they have no interest in gold beyond decoration - which means some big Orcs may wear gold, just because they can, but the runty guys are going to be stripped bare (or maybe hiding a gold fang cap in their dirty loin cloth, if you go in there for it, you deserve it). If you kill a brigand, and you find his hideout, you might find the coin that he's been taking off of travelers. If you kill a dock worker, it's going to depend on how close it is to payday. It's more up to your GM and the kind of game he writes. That's how I've always done it. I never use random tables. Loot in my games is either logically placed or it is the goal of the scenario.
