eihort said: Seriously, though, those pictures really made me miss my old gaming group. They all moved away years ago. I wrote the rulesets for Fantasy Grounds II to support Warhammer v2 and Dark Heresy. They are rules light rulesets so you need the books to play (intentionally so as not to hurt product sales), but they are very feature rich. The new owner of Fantasy Grounds II is approaching Fantasy Flight with a proposal to make an official ruleset for Warhammer v3. Hopefully they can work something out and you'll be able to play again with your buds that have moved away. Fantasy Grounds is great for that. Lastonjones runs a D&D4th game across it every week for me and some of his buds that have moved away. It works like a charm. We use ventrilo to talk and the program provides a very solid virtual table. It's almost like sitting there with them, except they don't have to look at our ugly mugs. If you can't sit down with your friends, it's the next best thing.

Manoeuvres for Monsters - need official statemet
NezziR replied to NezziR's topic in WFRP Rules Questions
Is there an example somewhere of a monster using 'Aggression' to augment a players attack roll? It says 'opposed checks', which is a written mechanic, but they could have been using the term more loosely. -
lastonjones said: And of course, a huge thank you to Nezzir for running this for us so wonderfully. I look forward to playing this system more and as always, it is an honor and a privilege to sit at your game table! When we get an opening at our table, we're careful about who we chose to fill it. We consider the fun factor that person brings and consider how they are going to affect our group dynamic, because Tuesdays are our 'fun' night and we don't want to mess that up. You were an obvious choice to fill the spot way back when and none of us regret it. Thanks for showing up each week and being an awesome player.

Thanks. I built it out of a couple of marine grade 4x8 boards, some 2x4s, and some all weather latex paint. It's very sturdy. It's about 15 years old and you can still see things reflected in the surface. We're located in Nashville, Tn. If you ever get down this way, contact me through the forums and we'd love to have you as a guest player. The South is known for its hospitality

The Iron Ring - my regular Tuesday night group. Great guys and amazing roleplayers. They have been challenging me as a GM for well over a decade now. Left to right is Lee, Charlie, Matt, and Dan. The table is set up and ready for the nights game. Beer has been chilled and snacks abound (healthy ones provided by our resident fitness trainer Dan). Here is the layout for the High Elf envoy - all neatly stacked and sorted This is a shot of the GM area. The books, like the ToA, lay perfectly on the plastic box and stay flipped open to the correct page. All of the bits and cards fit comfortably in the plastic box, including the dice. If you remove the cardboard piece in the core box meant to hold the books up high, the plastic box also fits in the core box (with everything else). The box is a standard card holder box. I think I got it at Walmart or some other large chain store, back in the plastics section. It was really cheap, I remember buying a half dozen of them at the same time. The characters are about to engage the enemy. The Iron Ring discusses their options. This is how the table looked at the end of the evening. Things are spread out and ready for next week. Since the table is dedicated to gaming, we chose to leave everything set up instead of folding the character into their storage boxes. Lee Before Warhammer v3 Lee after Warhammer v3

Manoeuvres for Monsters - need official statemet

You can use A/C against players during 'opposed' tests (see 'Opposed Checks - RB:42). I don't think you can add them to combat action difficulty. -
Keep in mind that I think a lot of this was intentionally left open - to allow the GMs to run games as best suits his style and methods. At least that's the way it seems to me when reading it. It tries really hard not to stifle creativity.

So, since monsters can't take fatigue, and forcing them to do so would cause a wound, I wonder if using a couple of boons to heal a fatigue would heal a wound instead... Hmmm. Yeah, I just sit around all day and think this stuff up.

There's been a lot of talk about how players quickly get better at dice pools and such as they play, that it has a short learning curve to get to the fun part. Well, I'm here to say the same goes for Game Masters. After your first couple of games you get better too as you start grasping some of the games concepts. I had a great game tonight and I can't remember a game so easy to GM and with such great game flow. Tonight was our normal weekly game night with my regular group. It was a spectacular game. Smiles all around. There were a few hitches with our demo game on the 14th, though it was amazingly fun, but tonights game ran smooth as glass. I spent a little more time going over the basic concepts of the game beforehand and we took our time while playing. My old school players were thoroughly impressed and voted unanimously to switch to the new system (after our Dark Heresy campaign wraps). My job as GM this time around seemed much more natural - no hitches, no rule look ups (except for a quick peek at first aid), I was able to narrate using the dice, and to use the dice as a reward system for good roleplay. We used the party sheet to good effect. We had some very exciting rolls. There were no misunderstanding and everyone grasped the concepts and hit the ground running. It was a very exciting game and everyone had a blast. One of my players was dumb-struck at how much he enjoyed it, he couldn't stop gaping at it. I took some pictures. I'll put them up soon with some additional comments.

No, just the fatigue section of it. You can't activate a card boon/bane unless you hit (I'm pretty sure), but you can still use them for fatigue/stress. Not sure about boons/banes in non-combat rolls...
-
No, you read it right - that's how I thought it was and your post confirmed. I just needed some backup on this issue to make sure I was reading it right. Thanks a bunch.

It states that two boons *BB* or two banes {BB} may be used to recover or cause fatigue. It also states that boons and banes are 'fuel' and must be spent (unlike successes). My question is, do you need to be successful in your hit attempt to use them as such? My second question would be, if there are boon/bane effects listed on the card, can you still opt to affect fatigue instead? I would say, yes, you need to be successful, but that seems a little counter productive when considering banes. I would also say that you may choose how you want to spend them, but I seem to remember reading something to the contrary (I just can't seem to find it at the moment).

I have updated the OP with a PDF version of the corrected cheat sheet. It also contains the current community generated errata.

schoon said: The short answer is "yes." In fact, I plan to port Dark Heresy entirely over to the WFRP3 system. You'll be able to find it all here after the game comes out and I've had some time to work on it! It's a bit of a daunting task, since I'll have to do the cards for it as well, but I'm sure it will work out fine. Bookmarked

Manoeuvres for Monsters - need official statemet

The 'official variant' was probably added based on your suggestion. So, thanks for that because I much prefer it. Anyway, it's good to put this to bed. It was a real problem for me -
Manoeuvres for Monsters - need official statemet
NezziR replied to NezziR's topic in WFRP Rules Questions
Here is an official response from Fantasy Flight Games. My thanks to the Warhammer dev team for taking the time to resolve this issue. Going by the rules as written, additional manouevres would cost fatigue. Since standard creatures do not accrue fatigue, instead they must suffer wounds if an effect would inflict/cost fatigue. Performing an additional manoeuvre beyond the one free manouevre on a turn would therefore inflict one wound rather than one fatigue. A group of henchmen working together would only suffer one wound collectively. Alternatively, here is an official variant GMs may wish to use to add even more versatility to the A/C/E budgets that creatures have. A creature's Aggression budget can be spent in a similar way to the use of fatigue to perform additional manoeuvres. Likewise, a creature's Cunning budget can be spent in a similar way to stress to adjust a creature's stance. While a creature's stance is fixed, spending 1 point from the Cunning budget allows the creature to adjust his stance +/-1 for a single check. So a creature that normally has a stance of R1 could spend 1 cunning from its budget to roll R2 for a single check. -
Erik Bauer said: Ok. That's what I wanted to hear. Now my even little possibilities to purchase that thing are completely gone. FFG can keep my copy in the warehouse. LOL - you come in here every day to say that. You've said, "I'm not buying this thing!" like 50 times. We get it man - it's not for you

Manoeuvres for Monsters - need official statemet
NezziR replied to NezziR's topic in WFRP Rules Questions
I guess you could also go with a combination, sort of an array of options: An NPC may perform additional manoeuvres beyond the first by: Taking a 1 penalty to rolls for any subsequent actions Expending points from its A/C/E pool Suffering 1 wound -

Action Card Recharge vs. Fast Weapon Quality
NezziR replied to NezziR's topic in WFRP Rules Questions
@dropping True. I've even had players forget and leave weapons laying on the battlefield - specifically a "Best Quality Skittari Vanaheim Pattern Assault Shotgun". There was much weeping and lament as the dropship ascended. @reloading There are, in some cases, small wraps that contain powder, patch, and shot all bound up in one oiled paper package. All you have to do is slip it in the barrel and then use the rod to jam it down in there (I think it rips the paper and dumps the powder - not sure how it works). That would make for some fast and convenient reloads if you kept a bunch of them on a bandoleer. The packing rod is on the gun (under the barrel I think). Combine this with flintlock technology (no primer?) and you could get shots off pretty fast and may be able to do it with something in your hand. Just speculation in case you wanted to work it in there... -
Action Card Recharge vs. Fast Weapon Quality
NezziR replied to NezziR's topic in WFRP Rules Questions
They can always 'drop' something as a free action. Consequently, you can pick something up with a manoeuvre. So, allowing a sheath + draw is just a neater way of doing the same thing. You could: Sheath and Draw one round, then next round do it again -or- You could drop and draw one round, then next round drop that and pick up the other. It's really the same thing, but it's more heroic to sheath than drop Edit: It really doesn't say that if you draw an potion from your pack you could drink it either - I would allow it. (Remember, you can only drink one healing pot per day or you get the Nurgle Squirts, and since there are no fate points...) -
I thought this user had some great observations: javascript:void(0);/*1258416022794*/ Sample Quote: Then came this weekend and Warhammer Fantasy Core Set. So much contained in so few rule books. Character creation that flows easily. Dice that are different and wonderfully used, cards that hold so much action, customiazation, and interlocking combos...and I have a chance to get back in. For the first time in a decade (at the least, 2 may be closer to the mark) I am interested in sitting down and playing or running a campaign.
