Wh0isTh3D0ct0r reacted to mischraum.de in Game is Officially Dead...
To me it was the greatest LCG I have ever played. It is sad that they didn't treat it better (promotion of the game, some design problems when the game was like I play light side I win) Or maybe it was not all their fault (the delays in production, Netrunner stealing the show etc.). Maybe it was not mainstream enough mechanicwise. But the mechanics and the objective set system were what brought me into and kept me in the game.
It is sad they didn't even give it a proper farewell. Just two lines about how many expansions were produced. If you compare it to the article they gave the Call of Cthulhu LCG...

Wh0isTh3D0ct0r got a reaction from thereisnotry in Should I get this game?
I have found that 99% of the time, if someone has gotten as far as "considering" to buy TI4, then it's the kind of game that person would love!
If things like "long gameplay" or "4X" or "tons of content" or "$150 MSRP" haven't already pushed you away, then this is definitely the game for you!

Wh0isTh3D0ct0r got a reaction from Marinealver in Differences between 3rd and 4th edition
Often times a new edition of a board game has mostly cosmetic differences, usually because a different company is now producing it. But in the case of TI4, they started from the ground up and used most of the best stuff from TI3 but removed or streamlined everything else. For instance, pretty much everyone agrees that researching new technology is WAAAYYYYY better in TI4.
Check out this comparison video...

Did you mean "Venator-class"?

Wh0isTh3D0ct0r got a reaction from Wintercross in Support for Twilight Codex and Official Printing
I second this, especially when it comes to the action cards. With all of the other cards, the print quality doesn't really matter that much, but with the action cards, it is important to have them look as much like the other action cards as possible, which is why I would be more than happy to buy them as a standalone product for TI4.

Wh0isTh3D0ct0r got a reaction from brcowell in Support for Twilight Codex and Official Printing
I would be happy to see future codexes released as physical products (mini expansions) instead of digitally because that allows players to help financially support the ongoing development process.
And I could see this being a new type of business model for FFG's heavier board games, the games where it would normally take at least a couple of years before they release a new expansion, if at all.
There are so many possibilities!

Yep, that's the one.
Thank you all for chiming in with your support too. Hopefully we'll see plenty more people weigh in to make the official printings a reality!

I would also like to add my voice to the increasing clamour for an official print run of the omega tech and anything that crops up in the codex!

Wh0isTh3D0ct0r reacted to brcowell in Support for Twilight Codex and Official Printing
Hi Fantasy Flight Team and the larger TI4 community,
I want to officially express my support for the new Twilight Imperium Codex. I greatly appreciate the hard work and commitment that has gone into these revised/new game components to improve the overall gameplay of TI4, and I definitely look forward to future iterations. I also fully support an official printing of all of the Codex components by FFG at some point in the future (maybe when a few more of the anticipated Codex iterations have been released). I will gladly pay for the option to have professionally printed components from FFG, and as Dane mentioned in a recent podcast interview, this is definitely possible if FFG thinks it would be profitable. So, let it be known that I am willing to pay, and I'm hoping the other satisfied TI4 gamers will similarly express their support!
Keep up the great work with Twilight Imperium!

Wh0isTh3D0ct0r reacted to BigKahuna in Expansion rumors?
Yeah don't doubt it, if they made an expansion, I would be first in line for it no matter what it is.
For me personally if Fantasy Flight Games wants to do something for the fans, the loyalist that have been playing this game for decades. I vote for a collectors edition like they did for War of the Ring. I would hand over my first born guilt free for that, he's 15, he's had a good run, I'll miss him, but definitely worth it.

Wh0isTh3D0ct0r got a reaction from Wintercross in Expansion rumors?
Makes sense, but I for one hope that they do make an expansion because there are a lot of things they could do which would make it an instant purchase for almost any TI player, including those who are in the same boat as you. We'll see.

Wh0isTh3D0ct0r got a reaction from twincast in No More Replacements for Missing Parts
So many little things have happened in the past couple of years alone that I'm a little worried about the future of FFG.
But, I try to stay optimistic and remind myself that these things have a way of working themselves out, even if it's in an unexpected way. Our beloved games shall prevail. Some way, somehow!

Wh0isTh3D0ct0r got a reaction from JJ48 in 2nd ed Raider cancelled?
Yikes. Yeah, I saw this video earlier today as well.
Canceling Saw's Renegades makes a little bit of sense, since you can already get a T-65 and the U-Wing should eventually get its own 2.0 version. Releasing a product that contains a U-Wing before a standalone U-Wing expansion is available doesn't make much sense to me.
But I don't understand canceling the Raider or the Reaper. I already have a Raider, so that's not as much of a problem for me, but I still don't have a TIE Reaper because I've been waiting for the 2.0 version with everything corrected.

I wanted a discussion. I got it. Some feedback useful. A lot of it not. Then I made up my mind. Then people got butt-hurt that I didn't decide what they wanted me to decide.

Wh0isTh3D0ct0r got a reaction from Chudley in Number of supported card pools?
My point here is that I am simply not excited enough about comic books to have Marvel Champions be a slam dunk for me like a SW co-op LCG would be. But I do like some of the LCGs that I have played in the past. So I needed something to tip me to one side or the other of the fence that I was on.
I've bought into LCG's before, so I know how much of a money pit an LCG can be, especially if I don't have a local gaming group who is playing the game regularly. Lately, my player pool has been reduced to just my own household, so I have the choice of either playing games that I already own or buying into a new game that fully supports up to four players (there are five of us, but the youngest isn't quite ready for these kinds of games yet). Marvel Champions apparently does not do that without additional copies, so rather than gripe about the cost or the number of supported players--which are completely understandable to me--I simply choose to focus my money and attention elsewhere.
So then, enter other players who insist that I must see their point of view and that I would practically be a fool to not see the value in this game, and honestly, that kind of turns me off to the game. Why would I want to buy into a game for which I now already have such a negative perception about the player base, given the debate tactics that have been employed here in this thread? (Agree with me, d*** it!!) Some of the people in this thread are the absolute worst champions for this game (pun intended).

The thing is, the more you all push this idea of “How dare you not be as excited as me?!” the more I don’t want to play this game. So, keep the comments coming. I need all the excuses I can get to spend my money elsewhere.

Wh0isTh3D0ct0r got a reaction from jonboyjon1990 in Number of supported card pools?
A.) “Support” and “fully support” are not the same thing.
B.) Fully supporting four players is only one of many considerations.
I’m looking at the big picture, while you are focusing on specific details of what I posited. I added up all the considerations and finally decided “pass.” The more people whose panties get in a twist about that, the more I feel my decision was the right one.
