  1.  I'm not sure I'm understanding what the new books / vaults will be about. For example, the creature vault/hardcover books, will they contain all new material? Or is it just the stuff from the core books put into a different format?

  2.  I did hear some rumors that GW was re-publishing Warhammer Quest (similar to the Space Hulk reprint) this October. :D

    I also think that FFG's license does not allow them to do miniature games based on GW stuff, right? I guess that really wouldn't be an issue with this game, as it's not really a miniature game.


  3. I was also thinking of adding a third faction to the adventure, which would be the townsfolk themselves. I'm thinking they're growing weary and tension is running high, so if something is not done quickly, some torches will be lit up and pitchforks sharpened.

    The party did have some cultists escape from their An Eye for an Eye story, but I don't feel like using them for this.

    Current shape of the story is :

    Party (based in Übersreik) returns home from the Manor, only to find very few people on the streets and much discomfort among the townsfolk. A series of gruesome events has ocurred throughout the party's absence and a witch-hunter has  been called. The gruesome events stopped when the PCs arrived back in town, which will make them suspects to the events. First encounter will be with the underlings of the witch hunter, poking for clues (maybe they're posing as regular people to collect info or something). After the PCs have been given fair warning, the Witch-hunter closes the city gates, detrmined to find the blasphemy that dwells in the city. Investigation track will be set up with 3 parties in play:

    1) Witch-hunter being misled by the cult / culprit towards the PCs

    2) PCs finding out what really happened and who's to blame for it

    3) Townsfolk grow weary of the situation and will become ever more violent and fanatic

    I liked the idea about a merchant taking care of his opposition, so the real deal behind this all might be just that. The merchant (trying to brush off the atention) faked some Chaos ritualistic symbols (as Übersreik may have already gained knowledge from the events in Eye for an Eye). He did not expect things to grow so much and have a witch-hunter come to poke around, so wanting to get a scapegoat, points his finger to the PCs.

  4. I have this idea I want to develop into a full adventure and I thought I'd share here to see what you think.

    Its an urban adventure, where the PCs are in a given town where a Witch-hunter has arrived. Some hiddeous heresy has been detected and the Witch-hunter is bound to find a culprti. The twist is that the evidence found seems to point in the PCs direction. I imagine an investigation track for the witch hunter and PCs, with several event tracks. The witch hunter advancing would be based on his investigation being guided towards the PCs and the PCs advance would be fiding evidence of the consiracy behind the setup. Events would start as brushes with the Witch-hunter or his cronies, to chase sequences through the streets of the town.

    This is just my first thoughts, I'll start writing soon the full details on it. Any ideas will be apprecited. Also if anyone has any thoughts on possible stats for a particularly strong Witch-hunter that would be awesome.


  5. Well, last week I ran the "An Eye for an Eye" Scenario. It was my first time GMing this system, so I got some rules wrong and stuff, but mostly I did OK. We had the 2 main fights and in each of them one of the PCs went down in the second or thirf round. From there, the PCs got more careful on exposing themselves, but still got nicked pretty good. All the PCs ended with critical wounds left over for next adventure, but none were too close to dying that I can tell. Still, they'll have to watch out for the next adventure or I can tell a couple of them will go down in flames.


  6. I've yet to write an adventure for this game (I'll be running "An Eye for an Eye" tonight to get the group going) but I can see how the game balance can be easily affected in combat. We're probaly a little bit spoiled by games that explicitly design monsters in order to provide a "standard" encounter for any group of levels. I kinda enjoy that when playing D&D 4E but I'd like to make a point here:

    It's actually kind of awesome that we can NOT standardize encounters easily. To me this means that every group will make every encounter THEIR OWN, by having to solve it in a different way.

    Scared that the Minotaur is too hard for these guys ? Well, life sucks and there's no necessity for every monster or challenge being encountered to be "solvable" by the group. Warhammer is a Grim and Perikous world, remember? I think this brings something to the table in making this statement truer. Of course, the GM will have to keep an eye out and not make every challenge impossible for the team, or else it becomes boring and a character creation excersise for the players.

    Also, the general tips and advice in the Tome of Adventure is a great guideline for story creation, I believe. The way I intend to tackle this is think a story first and then populate backwards with monsters, not the other way around. Sometimes I'll come up with encounters that may be too hard (hopefully not frequently) but maybe I'll just cheat a little if things get too out of hand. What I hope is that PCs will end up being more careful and pick their fights or find alternate ways of solving conflict

    I don't post a lot on the forums, but I had to jump in the bandwagon and congratulate you guys on the work on this product. I just finished reading the Core set and I'm absolutely impressed at almost everything. As with anything else, there's probably things I don't like and others I'll change, but that's only to be expected. The important thing is that the product is amazing and I absolutely loved it.

    Specifically talking about the "Eye for an Eye" adventure:

    I strongly believe in the power of the sample adventure we seem to typically get in a core book for an RPG. I almost never run this story for different reaons, but still I find it is very important because of one thing in particular: It sets the standard to be followed on how to write modules for the game. Of course GMs will tend to keep in their own "style" and whatnot, but in the end when I read someone else´s adventure, I will only have my own stories to compare with, other than the sample story in the GMs book. So you see, the sample story serves to set an example. I use these stories to see what the game designers came up with in order to use these wonderful new rules and mechanics they came up with. I mean, they've been working on these mechanics and stuff for months, so my money is on them to designing some great ways of using these rules. I also look for pacing guidelines, monster guidelines and a lot.

    Well, you see, you've pretty much beat every expectation I had on the "Eye for an Eye" story. As mentioned above, a lot of detail is given and still, a lot of  "wiggle room" is left for every GM to tweak it to his liking. Moreover, it gave me a very good idea on how to write stories for Warhammer Roleplay.

    Congratulations and keep up the good work. I have high expectations on the new Campaign book that is brewing up based on this story !!

    BTW, is there any plans on releasing an official "format" for people to write their own modules in ? It would be great if we had some sort of PDF or Word file with the right Fonts and stuff. RPGs are very driven by the community, so this kind of nice giveaways are fine ways of encouraging people to submerge into a system.
