I know your not asking to sell but someone could miss read your post as a wanting to sell post .so just to remind you the is no selling on here.

now if you have a Han solo AA to trade which one do you have as armada(spring kit 2016),imperial assault (national championships 2015) each have one, and x-wing has two,(one is a world promo from 2015 and is a drawing ,the other is from I believe the winter kit from 2014 and is a picture and from board game day so is fairly common).

    hope this helps

wblackthorn reacted to sinclair5150 in A Bad Rule, an Unfortunate Situation, and a Misguided Choice.... Reflections from a Roanoke Regional Top 8
So even as I begin to write this I know that it's probably a futile effort.  Internet forums and Facebook posts are rarely, if ever, the place for debate.  Never the less, I write.  I was one of the Top 8 in Roanoke this past weekend (#8).  I'm not part of Nova, or a podcast so I'm not speaking for any of the other 7 players.  I'm just a schmuck from a small town who enjoys competing in x-wing events and having fun.  I've not read all of the forum posts or Reddit threads on this topic since Sat. nor will I.  I don't need the the online crowd to pressure me into anything.  Amongst all the debate over Intentional Draws regarding this event it has also been a subject of curiosity, at least early on, of "did they all get together and decide this?"  "Was it a protest?"  Words like "cartel" are being put out there.  To my knowledge, either here or on their FB group page, only the Nova guys have spoken about it and they have used phrases such as "we" (thus, probably unintentionally, seemingly referring to the whole Top 8).  They have indicated that it was not a protest.  This has thus given the community at large the assumption that the entire Top 8 was of one mind and, unfortunately, associated us all with some of the, shall we say, less than respectable verbal actions that some of the top 8 have spouted.

So where do I stand?  First, then entire thing went by quickly.  The final round pairings went up with a crowd hovering around the sheets.  A joke was made something along the lines of "what if the entire Top 8 just drew?"  I don't remember the exact quote but it did seem jokingly.  Players dispersed to collect their stuff and get to their tables.  I never spoke to a single one of the other top 8 during this time but it quickly became clear, as I got to my table, seeing and at that point, hearing, the other top 8 tables talking with a TO and performing their desire/decision to take the ID.  Without knowing their reasons, here is what went through my head in the short time I had.... In the first Regional of the season, how powerful a message would it send FFG OP if the Top 8, that included the 3 time World Champ, a Worlds Top 4 and a well known podcaster, all took the ID?  Would it be enough to protest the rule in this manor to get them to change the ID rule ASAP?  So I made my decision.  The next thing I know, my opponent is there as was the TO.  Having never done it before we awkwardly fumbled our way and my opponent officially offered me the draw and I accepted..... as a protest.   A short time later I had a moment in passing with the gentleman running the twitch feed and we both expressed our hope that this would send a message to FFG.

Now, having said that, and truly hoping that after all this that FFG will QUICKLY change this rule, did I make the right decision?  Would I do it again?  No.  I made the wrong choice.  I don't like the rule and even though I thought what I was doing might help bring change, I still should have said "no, I want to play out my last game."  In the short time I had I mentally projected onto the others, especially Paul, this notion that we were making a point.... apparently I was wrong.  That's my fault, not theirs.  We didn't talk and they never actually said that, so I shouldn't have assumed that.  I've seen the posts by some of the Nova guys, including Paul.  They have clarified that it wasn't a protest, that, while they don't like the rule, they used it simply to secure their Top 8 place, no more, no less.  You know what, that's their choice and it is currently allowed, so that's their right to do so.  However, that being said, the tone that at least a couple of them have taken, as well as the other vitriol that has come about...... Nova doesn't speak for me.

I made the wrong choice and I regret it.

This was to be my only Regional this year and it's now something that I'll just have to forget, lumped in with one or two other bad events that I've been to in my 3+ years of playing this game.  I want nothing to do with name calling, or FB ranting.  No matter how nice or how... not nice,  the comments will be on this thread I won't argue back or probably even comment.  For what it is worth I just wanted to give my reason, however misguided it has turned out to be.  I've unfollowed the Nova FB group page, as well as some others, because quite honestly I"m disappointed in the tone of some of the represented players.  I know that some have said that some of them were openly mocking lower tier players at the event after the ID.  I personally didn't hear any of that so I can't speak to that.  But I know what I've seen in their online response and I don't want to be associated with it.  Everyone has their opinion and that's great, but unfortunately like everything else it seems that all we can do is resort to name calling anymore.  I'm disappointed in both Paul AND Doug Kinney for their comments and rants.
As the 2 World Champs I'd like to expect better, but you know what, I don't know either of them outside of some online comments and their appearances on podcasts.  So my expectation of them is on me.  No one is perfect and anytime emotion gets involved bad things are likely to happen.

So in closing I offer my apologies for this mess.  I thought I was being apart of something to help change a bad rule.  At least a part of that is happening, I'm sure FFG is wide awake to this issue now if they weren't before.  Again, that doesn't make the decision right however.  I don't expect a rush to my defense either.  I'll go back to playing x-wing eventually, mainly local events as I'm not the type who has or probably ever will travel to Gencon or Worlds, etc.  Hopefully this rule will change and this will all be behind.  While I've enjoyed listening to podcasts and reading discussion on forums, etc.  they don't define this game or the "meta" for me.  Personally I think too many, including myself in the past, have put too much stock in what the world champ thinks, or what the Scum & Villiany, the Nova's, the Mynocks think .... or what Fly Casual should or should not mean.  Again, I'm guilty of this too.  I also agree, as some others have pointed out that the problem isn't just the ID, but also the current round structure, number of players, dealing with drops, etc., etc.  But I'm not a math guy so that's for others, smarter than me, to debate and discuss.  I also want to express that the Regional itself, the building and the TOs, did a great job and the event ran smooth.  The staff at Star City Games were nice and on top of things.  I hope that all of this doesn't reflect on them.

For those who read this post, thank you for your time.

    What a great post.

Thanks for a thorough and thoughtful response. I recognise that with my 'righteous wall of text' I lumped a lot of people in together - somewhat unfairly and also made individuals figureheads for others and other viewpoints - again, unfairly.

As I said, my rant was really, more me venting at the accumulating effect of experiencing 'gaming whining' across multiple platforms, over the last few weeks.

My mistake was putting some of the individuals in this thread in my crosshairs.

Sorry to be THAT guy - but unsurprising and typical 'gamer whining' going on in here.

    In summary:

    - RG, IO and Sabs become too powerful and dominant, with many players stating they're broken, damaging the game and calling for bans/nerfs/errata

    - After allowing enough time for testing, seeing tourney result, FFG introduce errata

    - Players whine because the new versions of the cards are 'too different' (which is exactly what was called for). Players also whine because they don't have proper card version of the errata'd cards RIGHT NOW, despite FFG including images of the new cards in the article. Print them out, put them in the sleeve - simples

    - FFG then includes the errata'd RGs in the very next prize kit. Double sided so that you need less of them. So that player's need to attend less tournaments and so that FLGS need to buy less kits. This also means that it'll take 3 kits to release the errata'd cards instead of 5.

    - Players then whine that the cards are double sided, that they're 'different' to all the other cards now, are 'unusable' in campaign and replace the alt art cards. Players whine that they have to 'pay' for these cards, because the only way to get them is to attend tournaments. (Aren't you doing that anyway, because you like and play the game!?)

    - Players also whine about tokens not being included, the value of the kits being reduced etc etc, despite them trying out something new with the HP trackers.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

    - They include single sided cards and then they've either got to remove the Alt-arts or increase the price of the kits. Result: Whine
    - They include the tokens, then they've got to remove something else, make the erratas double sided, or increase price of the kit. Result: Whine
    - They don't include the health trackers and people complain about the kit's being boring or tired. Result: Whine

Maybe by now I shouldn't be, but it always amazes me the capacity for gamers to whine about stuff.

Thanks for the suggestion to report about Command Cards. I don't have a match by match report of Command Card use, but I can talk about my experiences with the Command deck as a whole, and some things my opponents did that I had overlooked and/or were surprised by with their Command cards.

First off, I have a really simple answer about Son of Skywalker over New Orders - I actually subbed in Son of Skywalker as a part of a series of game-time decisions before my first event on the 10th. I'll go back and edit my previous replies and reflect this, and I'll post the updated Command Deck here as well.

    Urgency
    Points: 15//Cards: 15

First, I want to make notes about the Command Cards that didn't help me too much in my past two events:

Explosive Weaponry: This card I really like, but I was never able to use it. Either I was unable to draw it at the correct time, or my opponent maneuvered in such a way to make Blast ineffective. The threat of an effective Blast 2 from the eSaboteurs is enough to intimidate the opponent into not leaving figures adjacent to eachother. Despite never making use of it, I'm of the mind to keep it in the deck. There have been rumblings of Trooper lists breaking into the meta, and this is good insurance to make maneuvering Trooper lists around the map frustrating for my opponent.

Inspiring Speech: The effectiveness of this card really depends on when you draw it. Three times I drew it beginning of game, and that was huge in setting up shots late Round 1 and early Round two. However, twice I drew this card late, and Gideon was never able to maneuver adjacent to two other figures to make full use of it, and it was just as effective to use On My Mark instead, allowing Gideon to stay in the backfield.

Rally: Going into this season, I had a difficult time choosing between this card and newcomer Set A Trap. I opted for Rally to protect from status effects, but in all honesty, I never used it. If I did pick up Stun from an opposing eSaboteur or Bleed from a Wookiee Warrior, I was usually able to clear the Stun with my first action, then return fire. In event two, match two however, I was wishing I had the card in hand. My Luke had a Stun token while baiting out the opponent's Wonder Twins. I feel I'll be keeping it; I can't shake the feeling that if I had Rally in hand, that match would have been over much more quickly.

Slippery Target: Another card that, like Explosive Weaponry, is more of an insurance and deterrent for Wookiee Warriors or Vader/Royal Guard Champion going after my eSaboteur objective carriers. I was only able to play it once over my matches, but it did keep a Focused Wookiee Warrior from smashing into my eSaboteur. This is a card I'm going to focus on making better use of. It's effects of disrupting action economy is almost like Stun.

With that out of the way, on to which cards won me games:

Celebration/Of No Importance: These are pretty straightforward. In an environment where low cost "support" uniques are present, I always had Celebration in hand when I was finally to single out and burn down an opponent's C-3P0 or Gideon Argus. In contrast, because more than half my list is non-unique units, I was also able to use Of No Importance late in the game, turning those durable eEchos into only a 6 point gain for my opponent.

I Can Feel It: A very well rounded card. Twice I was able to save Luke from death, turning a blank to an xmen result. I'm yet to use it to modify Luke's attack dice or use the VP function, but the versatility here is wild. Very good card would use again, 10/10.

Lock On: This is the insurance you need in a mirror match. In every game I faced Leia, me opponent rolled that frustrating xmen exactly when needed. Luckily, a few of those times, I had this in the wings to drop damage onto her. Without it, your eSabs are at the mercy of fate. Again, I'm not saying anything surprising here.

Negation: This is the real MVP here. While I was only able to use it once, my opponents frustrated me with it. While some feel this isn't worth the 1-point investment it requires, my opponents were able to cancel my Take Initiative to stop double activating eSaboteurs, or my Urgency to stop Luke from rushing up and assassinating Leia. While nobody was able to do it, canceling a Celebration/Of No Importance is also a pro use of this card.

Cards my opponents used to great effect included Devotion to fish for Son of Skywalker, Element of Surprise, Hard to Hit, and Stealth Tactics. Outside of Devotion, these cards are all about mitigating the "swingy-ness" of the white defense die. Games are won and lost with that xmen result, so removing that chance (or doubling it) is worth the cost of admission here.

Overall, I'm pleased with how my deck performed. I never felt like cards were "useless", and those that didn't get played are those insurance cards for a specific type of list that I'm yet to face. I'm happy to field all sorts of questions about my list/deck if there are any.

So FFG: please put out a booster pack of the new cards shown in your article.  Bundle it with another IA release and/or sell them for a reasonable amount (less than $5) individually.
