  1. My only question is this: Is there an expansion that says you can play with more than 8 players? Or did you just have an extra player/investigator anyway? (Lurker and Innsmouth are the only two I haven't played with... er, and I guess Miskatonic.)
  2. Hear hear! Merry Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, or Yule to all! Let your holidays be filled with portals! (Whhaaaa???)
  3. I don't think this has been updated in a long time - there's no one on the map in Toronto! If someone is still updating it, feel free to add me to Toronto, ON.
  4. I enjoy some good Arkham anecdotes - so thanks for sharing, Julia! The one about Zoey the cook in your original post is especially funny... my friends and I have had some similar games... I recall (poorly) one that was especially King in Yellow themed (with lots of expansions in, can't remember specific as this was years ago) and seriously, EVERYONE had either the understudy's script for the play, or the regular script for the play. People were seeing the yellow sign every where, (I'm quite sure we chose the King as our OO), and I think the game ended with the curtain falling down, on the turn of the guy who (was he playing the cultist? I can't remember...) had the real script instead of the understudy's script. A favourite anecdote of mine was when my friend who owns nearly the whole set (just missing Innsmouth, I think?) was playing with me in a 2-player game (maybe during Arkham Horror League #2? The one with Calvin as the ally...) and he was the female character who gains $2 every upkeep. So he's in Another Dimension, and gets an encounter that says "you fall asleep, and when you wake up you learn something new about yourself"... and then he had the $2. We both cracked up, as he shuddered and went "Euhh!". I called him a "*****" the rest of the game, and that's how I think of the character ever since. (the diletante?)
  5. Dadel, Welcome to the madness! I agree with Julia about starting with King in Yellow if you're going for the small expansion first. Also, Dunwich is fantastic - it includes my favourite mechanic in the game: madness and injury cards! I was actually looking for some opinions or reviews of Innsmouth Horror, since I'm debating between that and Kingsport. I've played with Kingsport + base once, and "all the expansions" up until Kingsport once. I like it a great deal. I've never looked at Board Game Geek for anything, really. Especially not anything Fantasy Flight makes, since I know all the craziest people who have looked the old ones in the eye and lived to tell the tale frequent here. (Sorry to piggyback your thread... Somehow it feels more appropriate than starting a new one, though? Mods and/or Dadel if you disagree, I'll edit this and do so.) So far, Miskatonic, Innsmouth, and Lurker on the Doorstep (the purple card expansion, I might have the name wrong?) are the only ones I haven't played with. I am yet to own all of them (as a friend does) myself, however. Merry Christmas, Dadel, and many more happy games!
  6. Hey, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what EXACTLY is contained within the Miskatonic U expansion. It looks like a big board expansion, but as far as I understand it, there is no board. It has Madness and Injury cards. And Nodens and Bast cards. Is it pieces of other expansions cobbled together to form a mega-card expansion (and therefore, potentially saving me money, had I not bought Dunwich and King in Yellow today?, or maybe even in spite of that?) or is it all 100% new content? Is it a combination of old cards from various expansions AND new content? Please, I would love a detailed LIST of what it includes. (And what expansion it is from/relates to, if you can too.) Thank you!
  7. I did the Arkham Horror League back in the 2009/2010 year, the one that heavily featured the new, made-up ally "Calvin". I was wondering if the Arkham Horror League was still going on, but I guess this thread, and the dates for Scenario 2's stickied thread above prove that it's not. It's too bad, I was was hoping to maybe join up a new team in my new city. *sigh* I had a ton of fun playing through (about half?) of the Calvin scenarios. So did my friend who owned all the game expansions. I just bought King in Yellow and Dunwich Horror expansions today, myself… I'm looking forward to breaking them in. It would be great to see another Arkham Horror League competition/event start up again.
  8. What's the name of the Wonder Child character again... From Kingsport? I only have the main board and Dunwich expansion, but I want to include her in a custom game. Anyone have a picture of her card?

The clues our investigators WOULD have started with? Or all clues that appear on the board appear here instead? 2) If we're all cultists, do the INVESTIGATORS count towards the 3 cultists in the streets for the sake of Ithaqua waking up? Ah... so apparently no one's online... and we're about to play. (we had to re-sort everything, 'cause we recently had a Kingsport game...) Um... My guess about the clues is to be the previously unused ones. Which would be none for us - we completely ran out DYING and beind DEVOURED in scenario 3. My partner in crime insistes the Investigators wouldn't count in the sake of number 2, because in a game with more than 2 people, Ithaqua would be summoned right away.

I'm really happy with the win, to be honest. ; Until I was looking at the scores from last year's league's first session, I was really happy and impressed with that score, too... I guess it was the Terror track that really killed us... it did give us a -10 right off the bat. O.o And since we live in different cities and can't get together to play often, we'll be submitting the 9. Huzzah! What I mean to say that we were still playing for fun, but this was our first time scoring it.

  13. Twilight said: Amanda Sharpe was running around with 2 fight +1 skills, but she was having trouble getting clue tokens to do any real damage. I was Amanda in my 2 player game, and I also started with the same skills! ... and... a deringer. ~_~ At max fight fighting Shubby she had 1 die to hit. (since the deringer became useless). Oh, old old one chicken.. XD
  14. Ex-zactly. ^___^ (that was what I meant, although it is possible the first time I played Harvey I used his less-sanity damage ability incorrectly, or else was only casting 0 and 1 sanity cost spells.. I believe the latter to be the case, since my cohort has always been strict on the rules.)
