  1. I'll reserve judgement until Ive played Armada but hopefully both. Love Epic as I can field cool combos. The group i play with can only muster 1 CR90 and 1 transport between us. We really need an Imp epic ship of some sort. If not there is no need really to put the single turbolasers on the CR90 and its the short range anti fighter fits or naught. I would love a battle with 2 large ships duking it out as well as the fighters rushing all over the place as well. Even a S&V epic ship in the future would be cool as well.
  2. There has been a lot of hate recently and I have now put the common perpetrators on my ignore list on the whole. The treatment of some new posters is appalling, the Emperor Palaptine fiasco being a spectacular low.
  3. Wave 6 Y wing, Zs and th ecards for the Firespray is a yes for me. Gives a third faction and more scope for fun and 3 way slugfests. Then thats probably it. Not into any of the other ships as i don't know the EU outside some of the Zahn books and old video games. So I think it will be Armada to scratch that classic starwars capital ship epic feel. My cash will go on finishing my x wing rebels off, probably Rebel Aces and another B wing than I'll see. Hopefully an Imp epic and Imp aces 2 for an advanced fix. I'll be happy then plus I am running out of space.
  4. Hopefully Imperial Aces 2. Bomber and Advanced love.
  5. Arghh FFG take all my cash. Want these now.
  6. Buy one of the ships you fancy play with them a while and buy more if you like, fancy more. Nothing worse than buying more than you need. If you want to try cards you don't have proxy or use from the internet, again if you then need the card for competitive play buy the expansion. I am lucky that the group I play with detests mirror matches therefore we share each other's ships hence have had a go at 3x BH and double falcon but only have 1 of each. I won't buy more of these as I would not use them enough to justify and I want to buy whatever the big Imp ship will be and get Armada.

    "Boop" 2.0

I have an old sound chip from a birthday card that is vader. Played a lot for when he is in use. The other thing my group do often is him or sing a little ditty to " Ther ecould be trouble ahead" but we use There could be clangage ahead. Referring of course to that wonderful sound Ties especially make as they run into each other in the middle of the fur ball.
  8. Saw the game in release in a Waterstones (bookshop) of all places , picked it up but was turned off by the lack of models. I am a big SF fan generally and the original SW trilogy specifically. I've been playing RPGs since the late 80s and some 40k since my son played it for a while. Nov 13 the group I play RPGs with split for a while due to work. The survivor and myself had fallen out with 40 K. He had the basic set and we had a game 1 night. 6 games that night later I was hooked and in love with the TIE barrel roll. We only got the RPG mob back together as a whole 2 weeks ago. In that time there have been 4 of us playing xwing every week. If reminds me of the TiE computer game that I loved but some of the newer ships are not for me, they are not in my Starwars, however Armarda!!!
  9. I was in Forbidden Planet, Southampton 2 weeks ago they still had a couple of Falcons and all the Wave 4 stuff. Not sure if they do on line orders though.
  10. Been away on holiday so missed the Armada news. Not the end of Xwing but probably the end of xwing for me and the chance for FFG to continue accepting my cash. I am not really a fan of the EU or Episodes 1-3, Star Wars for me is the original trilogy. So I got some of wave 4 as I played TIE Fighter back in the day but the E wing, YT2400 and Decimator are meh for me. I may get reinvigorated with Ep 7, we shall see. However, the thoughts of Sqns worth of X wings, TIEs and a Star Destroyer or 2, well. Bring it on.
  11. My friend and I did something similar a few weeks ago. Can't remember my exact list but 2 royals and a buzz doom shuttle. Friend had 3 xwing including Wedge. Lost by 1 xwing hull point only. Great fun.
  12. Curses that didn't work. My post was that I feel your pain with the green dice. Epic game last night all ships gone apart from the front of the CR 90 with 2 hull left and me with Soontir at full hull. Opponent rolled 4 hits after a tgt lock. I had focus and an evade, rolled 6 blanks!!! Game over. Needless to say I may well be in the market for some new green dice as I sacrifice mine to the dice gods.
  13. We do similar. Another variant we enjoy is to set a point limit and then run a small scenario. As an eg I told my opponent that his rebel scum had intel that Lord Darth Vader was known to be transiting a portion of space in a shuttle with a limited escort. His mission launch his snub fighters to find and destroy. I built an extremely expensive doom/buzz saw shuttle (far too many upgrades) guarded by 2 royal TIES. He brought x wings. It was a good fight with the scum winning by 2 xwings both with only 1 hull left.
  14. You talk my kind of talk. I know the advanced is meant to be bad but come on, it's Vader! Why wouldn't you.
  15. oddeye, I have tried something similar to that build and took apart a falcon/x/b list extremely quickly.
  16. Played a few games and done this. We took the nearest point of the ship to the gravity source and then increased/decreased the turn, bank, move by 1 as appropriate. It got a bit complicated but was fun. Also done moving asteroids similar to as mentioned above. We used a D6 on each asteroid to denote PS. During the movement phase at its PS the asteroid moved randomly using the GW dice 1 move. If the GW dice came up with the hit the asteroid moved 2 in the shown direction. Great fun until I lost my last interceptor by hiding it perfectly from the Falcon behind an asteroid that then hit me. Boo.
  17. I know that really I'm just after a bit of nostalgia.
  18. I don't disagree with your comments at all but as the Imperials moved to interceptors during the original series and the Rebels added A and B wings I think there was some tech progression and the z's and Y's and TIE's to some degree become obsolete. Really I am just disappointed that I cant take on several z95s on my own in a TIE and win. Thats what I did in TIE fighter, or do we just need Maarek in a TIE?
  19. B for me as the current ships exhaust my EU knowledge and interest. This is mainly restricted to the early nineties computer games. Therefore the Hawk and E wing are meh to me. I also worry about possible power creep as unique new ships are released. As an example I think the z95 is too useful powerful as it should easily be outclassed by the more modern craft. I know this is probably down to FFGs excellent game balancing but z95 should be outclassed canon fodder based on my TIE fighter game experience. I would buy aces and upgrade packs for the current ships and would love to see an advanced fix. However coupled to my almost fluff point above the advanced is a dead end evolution of TIE design and therefore may be should not be fixed. I wait in hope though as I think the advanced needed a fix far more than the a wing.
  20. Imperial as the first few games I played I fell in love with the barrel roll. Saying that I have x wings, y wings and a yt 'cos why not it's the falcon FGS.
  21. Never play tournaments and never will due to not wanting to play with people who think like some on this thread. I play for fun and would always help, aid an opponent. Fly casual is not my mantra, fly laid back fits the bill better.
  22. Shields are good for everything.
  23. Yes, love it. Far better than standard.
  24. In a friendly just over 100 pts match I tried 3 BS with outmaneuver and 3 BS with predator. My opponent had an XB and Falcon. I flew the ties as a flank and a joust. Devastating killing the falcon in 2 rounds and mopping up after. I will be experimenting to try and fit something similar into 100 pts.
