  1. I'm confused, are you suggesting FFG attempt to pick up the Iron Kingdoms setting/campaign? Or are you suggesting that FFG create a steampunk RPG like Iron Kingdoms? I'm pretty sure Privateer Press is unlikely to relinquish Iron Kingdoms to anyone as that is the basis for their Warmachine/Hordes mini game and I got the feeling that the creator of the setting is a bit of a control freak.
  2. I was thinking about this thread the other day and thought "Time Bandits" and "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" by Terry Gilliam might also be good sources of inspiration.
  3. Well, it's nice to see some kind of solution. I don't think it's a good one though. I don't necessarily want to be "friends" with someone just to be able to PM or be PM'd by them. I also dislike that PM's get sent as email. Every other message board I've used that allows PM's allows the user to access them from within a "mailbox" within their messageboard account. It's common enough to be considered a standard, and it's a standard I prefer.
  4. I haven't noticed that that your first post in a given thread gives 5 points.
  5. It's a term used on boardgaming forums to describe the time it take someone to determine all the options present, weigh pros and cons of each, and choose one. Not exactly indecision, though indecision can be part of it.
  6. It wouldn't surprise me if MC goes the way of the dinosaurs. I not seen much support of this game (by which I mean even carrying the product) at any of the FLGS I do or have had business with in the last 10 years. The only time I see this game was at cons or on online retailers. I do think that right now would be a good time for FFG to reinvest in it and advertise it a bit more. The field of CMGs is thinning with Wizkid games (Heroclix) out of business, Wizards of the Coast refocusing their D&D minis for the RPG and not supporting the skirmish game anymore, though they still have and support the Star Wars mini game. The only real CMG competition seems to be Privateer Press with Monsterpocalypse and Upper Deck with WoW minis.
  7. derros87 said: i have another question. how do you know if you won? where do they post something like that? or do they just send the winner an email? They are supposed to post the winners as per this statement on the "Community" page "Exclusive Advantages" link: "Prizes and raffle winners will be made public on the last Friday of each month in the News section and the Forums" In actuality, as the person above stated, it appears they only email the winners.
  8. A game will run approximately 30 minutes give or take 10. It depends on how prone people are to Analysis Paralysis.
  9. Yeah....and for a spin...make it a game called "Red Shirt" where your goal as a red shirt is to get another member of the away party killed.....
  10. It's been ages since I've read that series, but I remember it being pretty cool. I agree that that theme might make for some interesting gameplay options.
  11. I've attended Gen Con the last two years. FFG has both sold and demo their product line at the con. The items sell for MSRP, but may include con promos depending on the game.
  12. If I just try to print the character sheet PDF, I too get the problem where much of the text gets printed as a string of squares. There are three different solutions: When printing the PDF, look for a "Print as image" checkbox and click it. This produces a sheet that looks as it does on screen. You can get the PNG version of the character sheet. I noticed some strangeness with the margins when trying to print from the browser, but since it is a graphic format, you should be able to use photo/graphic editing software to correct this. If neither of the above works for you, I guess you're left with the option of making photocopies of the the character sheet from book unless a different PDF is posted that doesn't contain the problem.
  13. Sweet. I've been eyeballing this game for some time. I've got some family that are not into a lot of the themed games out there, so I've been looking at for some good abstracts that take less than an hour. This seems to fit the bill...
  14. I've been dying to play this game. From everyone I know that has played it and is familiar with series, it captures the feel pretty well. The game is brutal. Alliances are made and broken at convienence. It's probably not the perfect blending of game and theme, like say the old "Dune" board game, but it seems pretty close.
  15. I would say the "Heroes" IP is kind of lacking in the depth to produce a good game. I would say the "Wildcards" IP based on the books by George R. R. Martin would be more fruitful. The RPG is already being done by another publisher, but I think a board game or living card game based on "Wildcards" would be far cooler.
